  1. Neca asked for stupid Mentorhelps from the players to welcome me as a Mentor. I guess this is my life now...
  2. Can you tell me what faults you find with my suggestion? Because I see a lot of faults with traitors being able to consider anyone they want to be a valid. I imagine that any system that lets you pick your objective only lets you pick what TYPE of objective you want, be it to steal something or assassinate someone. You don't get to choose what you steal or who you kill.
  3. One of my main reasons for having Traitor turned off in my Game Prefs is that I'm not a fan of some of the objectives they get. If I could pick 3 objective of whatever type (kill/steal brain/steal AI/steal X/protect Y) I would definitely turn them back on as an antag option.
  4. James Friendly is a nice fellow, agreeable, good-natured, approachable. If only there was some word I could use to describe him that encompasses all of those attributes.
  5. Alternatively: "The Captain may not fire anyone from command without good reason." Requiring a vote is silly. Agreed. The Captain is the head of staff for Command after all. Just like any other department head can fire someone in their department with just cause so too should the Captain. Freeform laws are a major source of fun, and this removes that entirely. There's absolutely no harm in a Captain asking the AI if it minds him uploading a "fun" law and the AI approving of it. The Command staff should not have the right to force silly or pointless laws if the AI is being played by someone who doesn't care for them. A single poorly worded law can mean the difference between a fun round and a frustrating one for any AI player.
  6. I think it's fair to assume that the Captain's locker is more likely than not to have at least one high-value item in it.
  7. Just FYI, IK3I, if you plan on doing stuff like that again: I don't think the Captain's spare ID is necessarily considered a high-value item (although you would think it is) but if the Captain stored one of the actual high-value items like the nuke disk or something in his locker suddenly you stole it without knowing about it, breaking the self-antag rule.
  8. Nor is telecommunications but that doesn't stop people from messing around with it and adding all sorts of colors, censor scripts, and such. I would argue that none of that is "beneficial" as per RD SOP but there are still those few people who do it and don't seem to care that it annoys everyone else.

    Tigercat is 100% correct.
  10. Good news! They do!
  11. That's fair enough. I still think there should be some limiting factor, like once you log out you can't log in again for 10 minutes or whatever. But I'm definitely thinking less strict than I was before.
  12. I'd be open to this but I'd like to see a few tweaks to what I've seen suggested in the past. 1 - Do not make it so it's only available to prisoners. If it's limited to just prisoners we may very well see people committing crimes in-game just to play with the VR. Add a few machines in the locker room or fitness room that regular crew can use. 2 - Make it only allow a few non-prisoner crewmembers at a time. The Gateway already causes problems on low-pop rounds when half a dozen people run off into the Gateway and leave one or more departments understaffed. If there's only 3 VR stations available in the locker room and potentially some limiting factor preventing someone from staying connected forever then crew will have a reason to go back to their job. Obviously some people will still want to faff about but that's why there's a holodeck, boxing ring, and arcade machines. 3 - Allow prisoners in VR to communicate with non-prisoner crew in VR. Everything said could be logged and/or the Warden could monitor the VR with the camera console in his office (potentially the AI could have a camera "network" that allows it to monitor VR activities too.) This would allow prisoners to scheme with their accomplices outside but still run the risk of being overheard.
  13. Welcome to Paradise!
  14. NTSAM just wants to fry Vulpkanin. I'm onto you! But for reals, whatever Admins want to add for adminbus is fine but this certainly isn't something that should be available to any old player.
  15. Technically security should be cracking down on you if you're researching illegal tech. If you give them fancy toys, however, they're quite likely to look the other way.
  16. I would much rather people make suggestions like this so we can discuss their merits than to have people not make suggestions because they're worried about someone calling their suggestions shitposts.
  17. While I appreciate the sentiment this sounds like it could have a pretty significant impact on the round. A traitor who randomly falls over (even if it's every 1000 steps) is going to get dunked on hard. A player who can run just a little bit faster is going to have an edge against most antagonists. The "clean freak" trait would be completely wasted on someone who doesn't do any cleaning. One of the big draws of this game is that everyone is on more or less equal footing with skill being the deciding factor in most outcomes (although who gets a stun off first is usually a big decider too).
  18. I definitely recently had a situation where I ended up as a changeling while playing my character that was supposed to have all secret antag roles turned off. Thankfully Tully removed it when ahelped about it. It definitely seems like Game Prefs are tied to the ckey and not the character slot.
  19. I honestly wonder why there's ANYthing in the game that isn't constructible and/or deconstructible, and surgery tables are one of the big ones. The only step to setting it up is to use 5 sheets of plasteel and select it from the menu. What if it was more like a regular table, where you craft the surgery table assembly and then activate it where you want the table, then weld it in place. To deconstruct just unweld, wrench, and you have the assembly again for easy transport. Alternatively make it draggable rather than something you can carry around. Either way, yes, please, make it deconstructible. While we're at it can we make those plastic flaps removable? Maybe make it a long and involved process like removing an r-wall so people don't default to removing them to break into places. And make constructing them take sheets of plastic which is reasonably difficult to get so people can't run around blocking off hallways with them. Oh, and movable, removable, constructible conveyor belts when?
  20. Barbers caught running with scissors should be bucklecuffed to a chair and forced to listen to the entirety of Weird Al's Running With Scissors album.
  21. Hey it's that one guy from the place with the things. Hi guy.
  22. I'd like to point out that this is already a thing. Looking at the Guide to Plants some plants have a listed "rarity" value which is the point value they're worth if sent back to CentCom on the supply shuttle. I haven't actually done it myself but mass-producing something like Ambrosia Deus should be a pretty nice way to rack up supply points.
  23. Yinseng you can label buckets with a pen. I haven't tried labeling beakers but I imagine a pen could work for that too.
  24. A mech-mounted taser. I was wrong. I swear, though, that there's a mech-mounted weapon called the AAC, either the laser cannon or the ballistic weapon.
  25. sdtwbaj I was referring to HereticChurch's idea of barring someone from round-start antag after an antag round. I prefer your idea where the chance of being an antag goes up over time until you are selected as one.
