Cause Rapture was the inspiration of what an underwater city would look like instead of big bubbles.

I do notice the neon signs though, any Hylotyl city inspiration? Somebody else plays starbound besides me? (Also ,good God is that wallpaper material.)

  2. I like the idea of freeing up antags, but I'm not too keen on the only proposals provided, which seem to be murder-centered, it may be more interesting to add additional varities of the nonlethal objectives as well, such as multiple protect objectives, stealing of multiple high value target, maybe leaning towards objects other traitors have in order to also cause a bit of tension between antags as well as crewmembers, and possibly some motives or quirks such as having a bonus for completing an objective without being violent or leaving the station at certain alert levels. Maiming and disfigurement objectives are particularly interesting when people are left alive, the goal should not only be to increase antag freedom, but to increase this freedom in a way that can make things more fun for both sides.

I'd like the whole ID thing without necessarily requiring the death of a crewmember, allows for some hostage stuff and imprisonment with the antag. It'd be interesting to see how that turns out, or maybe a new objective involving something along the lines of "make sure X is in prison when the round ends" using the same sort of system that detects whether a traitor is free or not by round end.

In short, it's an interesting system, but I'd actually like to see if we can add a large number of RP promoting or more interesting objectives, in addition, something not included in the above post, I'd also like to state my support for rule changes involving antags, and being a bit lighter on them, as they recently seem to be under very heavy scrutiny.

EDIT: Do want to note, in reflection on Flattest's post, I echo the same concerns, as more murder won't lead to anything incredibly good. It'd be nice to see what other things we could also do to support more interesting antag things, though currently sec appears to have the attitude of shutting down antags as efficiently as possible instead of understanding that they're just as much of an instrument of the round's enjoyment as the antags are, and increasing the knowledge that the goal should not necessarily be 'winning' should at least be looked over. Prior suggestions mostly consisted of the removal of green/redtext, but that's incredibly controversial.

  3. I don't have any particular roles, but I've got names, which is nearly everybody I have ever seen, met, or heard of. This will be a list of all I can remember off the top of my head.

  4. Rev sort of became a murderfest because it would snowball from a few people who had no idea what they were doing to a whole station of revs killing just about everything that didn't have a big red R or blue R next to it. Unfortunately, they usually ended up bombing the shit out of the station that they needed to capture, and killing shitloads of Revs just to get at a single command member. As an admin, this gamemode is possibly the most unwieldy because most of the chaos stems from the level of control the rev heads have. If the rev head is good at leading lemmings, you can guarantee the revs are going to win with very little hassle and less bombings, most of the time however, these lemmings flip their shit and become pyromaniacs the moment they hear the flash go off. It's not that rev itself is a bad gamemode, it's more or less that people don't seem to be able to handle it reasonably without causing things to spiral out of control.

More or less, there's a reason why it's considered a badge of honor to solomin a 100+ pop rev round, it isn't really fun for the revs, nor the players, depending on how long or how crazy it gets, and it results often in a major imbalance between calm and action shifting mostly towards action with zilch for words the rest of the round.

Rev is an awesome roundtype, but only if done right, and history shows that usually people aren't able to keep the tide under control for long enough to make it as good as it could be.

  5. With the Noir mode on the det glasses, I can only imagine that a few gameplay scenes may find their way in here, cult, possibly? (Keep up the good work, a middle finger a day keeps the stress away.)

  6. Memory? Who needs it! Where's the fun in staying in a wholly consistent, sensible universe filled with people you know when you can be terribly confused and not understand what's happening? (Dark quota is properly fulfilled, looks pretty damn high detail, nice!)

  7. Part 2, Electric Boogaloo: The admin's word is not always law and does not always do things 100% correct, when in error, do not feel threatened out of an admin complaint because you think we might ban you for complaining. I know of nobody who was banned for making an admin complaint so long as they didn't outright insult an administrator in the thread with something along the lines of "Sure, just keep yourself on that power trip, big guy." Keep things civil and it'll be dealt with just fine. If you don't feel comfortable lodging a complaint, talk with a senior or greater administrator, it's our job to deal with internal complaints to 'watch the watchmen' and make sure you guys aren't being abused or stepped on.

That said, some people feel like their complaints will be cast aside or that they would be wasting an admin's time. Admins are volunteers, and we want to spend our time helping out the players, the entire goal of the position is to make things a more pleasurably experience, and trying to get through an issue that's been bugging you is a part of that. You aren't bugging or agitating an admin by giving them some work to do, and without it, we really wouldn't have a need for the position in the first place. If it can be solved IC without breaking rules and without them having borken rules, don't worry about it and talk with sec or command, but if you feel the need to call an admin in on something, we won't be bothered by your request, so long as it's not a "BAN X FROM Y FOR Z!!!11!!1!!"

  8. Don't look at me and the other nerds like robots, we like to play the game too! Have some fun, don't think that just because some guy's got authority means that they don't have time to have a conversation with you!

  9. I despise the auto de-lister! If we could have the server performance for listed, it'd be great! My main issue is the lag caused (curse you goonlights, curse you and your pretty sparkles!)

  10. I'm actually a big supporter of current maint because of its current expansiveness and freedom of movement. The maintenance actually feels like a part of the station that could be expanded upon, and currently leaves a lot of room for improvement. There are a few glaring errors I'm aware of, such as the arrivals maint layout and random R-walls or windows around, but for the most part, I actually really like the changes that have been made due to that PR. I enjoy wandering through maint and having both more potential to find things and, when observing, more potential areas for micro-events and antag potential in certain spots. The current maint has more opportunities for privacy than the prior maint, giving antags a wider selection of areas to hole up, and a number of rooms that a filthy maintdweller or greytide can refurbish to suit their needs. I'd really like to see a randomly generated maint, as suggested above, as it's been a pipedream since very early on in my gameplay experience, though I understand that that comes with coding difficulty and mapping of particular modules. The previous maint, to me, felt far too small and, while serviceable, didn't really amount to much gameplay wise, though odd to say, the changes brought on by the PR made maint a bigger part of station life by creating reasons for people to head into maint, by allowing for more civvie construction projects and the creation of small 'businesses' much like the rebuilding of maint bar. I'd ask that an alternative to previous maint be created in the meantime, as this sort of larger maint style seems to add more than it takes away, though considering it takes a large amount of time to map and code a completely new area, as well as going through the PR system, it's a request too tall for me to expect anything from.

tl;dr New maint adds a significant amount of freedom for antags and maintdwelling civvies and seems to make maintenance, however messy, a bigger part of station life considering the current uses of it. I've recently seen people create personal rooms, workshops, businesses, refurbished areas such as the art room or robotics lab, and I've personally used the rooms for events on several occasions in the past week. I ask that this sort of large maint style isn't completely removed from the game without something to create this sort of feel, as I am currently both intrigued and excited by the results of the current change. Though I request and alternative, I realize it's likely too much to ask for.

(Why is your tl;dr half as long as your full text.) tl;dr;dr Maint good, me like, not like small maint, small maint not good for cave civvie and bad man.

  11. For me, every round is linked to the next, so I try to keep as much remembered as possible so I can tell a good story IC or talk about something interesting with a "Remember that time when..." during a slow round. I keep IC friendships to the level where I won't be breaking any OOC rules, though I might end up in legal trouble for stealing a pair of insulateds or a tool-belt considering my role as civvie almost all the time. It's a hell of a lot less fun for me personally to head into a round not remembering anybody or anything, and I'm fairly glad this part of the game is that open-ended.

I try to keep people entertained and active with long, drawn out retellings of prior events, and a few jabs at things they might be doing at the time. I won't let things get in the way of their work, but when they've got the downtime, I don't bar myself at all from prior rounds, even sometimes hinting at previous affiliations and, in the event they were a vampire the last time I saw them, joke about tasting copper or I'll present them with a monkey as a 'snack'. Nukies are completely different people, Shadowlings are nerds and I'll only talk to them personally if I can figure out who the are and actually want to be known, and for Cults I'll ask if they'd finished "insert Lovecraftian novel here" since last shift.

For round continuity, I'll reference that the station has a 'broken clock' and complain about everything being reset to 12:00, usually accompanied by a joke about Steve, the CC intern. I do try to keep my jobtype consistent, however, as much of my work is either as a civvie or an MD, though on occasion I'll flick to something else for a bit of a refresher, command and sec aren't really my gig, though I have looked at HoP a little bit in the past. P.S. Quinton is a big NEEEEEEERD! <3

Were we to redo SS13 from ground up, I'd rely on something like IPCs to take the role of Cyborgs - they are much better intertwined with the rest of the game's systems and are already their own bunch of niche mechanics (EMP REEEEEE).

That said, I have yet to see a solution that would please most of the playerbase, considering how popular IPCs are as regular crewmembers.

As an IPC player, I do agree that I'd have to gut you if you ever planned to do this.

  13. Slade, muh special bastard.

S-1 He's a pacifist, the hell does he need strength for? Even when he does need to hit something like a carp or spider he hits like a wet noodle. Guy's rusted to anything too, which doesn't help.

P-8 As a bit of a maint dweller, he tends to see a lot more than other people, especially with the loot I end up with, usually mesons by round-end and a few other bits and pieces that make dwelling far easier than normal. He also ends up in a lot of situations because of hearing, usually, screaming, doors, jackboots, breaking glass, usually attract him to spots.

E-1 Much like strength, he won't hit a fly, even one toolboxing him to death, the guy ends up dead nearly every other shift I play, and every time the spooky ghost such and such happens he's got all of about 20 health instead of the 200 a human mob has, so not only does he punch like a wet noodle, he takes just about as many hits as one too.

C-10 I don't see it, but apparently you nerds do. There's been a number of times I've needed something from players that talking's solved completely for me. I used to talk my way out of antag objectives, changelings murdering me, vampires screeching me to death, shadowling conversions, and nuke op executions. The hell do you guys let me get away with so much?

I-7 The guy's old, not really smart, suppose this could double as a wisdom stat. He's got a decent bit of knowhow from being on-station for about three years, but he's hardly a savant.

A-3 He's rusty and forgets to eat half the time, there's usually not a time where he's any faster than anybody else, least, not that I can think of.

L-10 I seem to find a way to get into and out of just about everything, and manage to get just about anything I need from maint regardless of the time the round's been going on. Player-wise, he hardly ever dies, even if he should be dead, and seems to inexplicably survive just about any of the stupid situations I manage to place him into. I distinctly remember a round where I help a traitor kill me off and dispose of the body in space, only to be revived several times over the course of the round, regardless of my body's location.

  14. Sax is obviously a staple in any good artwork, also, I see an old dude in the top left, I demand to know what other old people I can scream with exist at all times. Scruffy is currently the bet screaming partner I have considering Quinton isn't as old as I thought his character was.
