Yes, because medbay doesn't have anything to do and just spends all the rounds stoned. ;) 

As for your second opinion, I'd say it won't be worse than super-bullshit-SR-magical-resurrection. This IS making antag's life harder. And playing a medical staff member less fun.

Having someone dedicated to get rid of people, who.. let's say... break in to the ORs during operations, or steal medpacks, or just slip you when you're attending a pateint because it's all damn funny...

That sort of thing, you know? :)

That's the thing that medbay guard should deal with.

I 100% agree with this. When I first started playing the game I played Paramedic a lot, always had a defib on my back, enough supplies in my belt to heal up critical victims, and it was super exciting for me to try to get to people in time to revive them. Once I discovered SR it took the thrill out of being a paramedic and working medbay in general. I don't think SR is going away ever..but maybe it DOES need a time limit like a defib (longr than a defib...but similar...10-15 min?). Like maybe once the body starts rotting a bloating its too late. Which would make sense. Sorta weird to be like "This body is heavily decomposed...wait...SCIENCE!! All better now. Lets forget your blood has coagulated, rigor has set in, and your skin and organs are rotting. Maybe we need a new post for this.

I've updated the "job request form" I created to give to the HOP. The previous one entailed a lot of work on the HOPs end because it required manual permissions to both medbay and sec to be given. This is both time consuming and I've had several instances (honestly more often than not) that I wasn't even given all the proper permissions and needed to wait in the HOP line again to get it fixed. I've now realized that the Brig Physician has all the proper access required so the new form just has the HOP changing the requestors job to Brig Physician, then a custom name of Medbay Guard. Easier for the HOP, HOPs line moves faster, less margin for error. Everyone wins.

The Brig Physician thing might also be useful for anyone who might be working on actually programming this class into the game. Some sort of copy n paste thing. I dunno shit about coding so maybe I'm blowing smoke. Hope it helps

Heres the new form:. Copy n paste it on a piece of paper n hand it to the HOP. Also helps to get permission from the CMO and HOS first depending on who the HOP is.

I play Medical pretty much exclusively and would really like something like this.  When you have graytide walking right by doctors and then spamming the medical storage as if Medbay is a fucking Help Yourself Pharmacy it's really annoying, but not quite worthy of calling for security to run half-way across the station when you know they aren't going to get there before he leaves anyway.

Also, when things are hectic, someone assigned to get anyone who isn't a doctor or patient the hell out of medbay would be great.  It's really annoying when Cryo/Cloning turn into a traffic jam because people are either just standing around wasting space or trying to play doctor themselves. 

As far as SR goes (since it got brought up) My problem with it is that if you have a chemist who knows what they are doing you'll have 300 of them 5 minutes into the shift which means it's more or less unlimited.  It's not just that it's powerful, it's that it's effectively an unlimited resource.  I think making it take 20u per pill to work would make the supply far more limited and keep the Paramedic job valuable.

Medbay honestly doesn't need the guard. If antaggery goes on, it's a good thing, because it takes Sec like half a minute to respond, unless they are on patrol. That's the beauty of the design of the map. Medbay should be a vital target to hit, and hitting it should have impact. A designated guard just isn't necessary, nor a good thing, because it throws off the balance of the map.

Edit: When I see complaints about greytide, that sounds more like a root problem than something solved by an extra redshirt.

I might make 'Medbay Bouncer' or 'Orderly' one of the alt titles for Bouncer in the PR.

Bouncer with various alterations would be useful so as you say, they can work where they choose (or where needed)

Bumping this due to playing in the test runs on Metastation. The resources to create this class already exist: 

Take the locker and it's contents from the sec checkpoint in Metastation medbay.

Take the current map used for Paradise and change the northern most isolation room (which are *NEVER* used) from Medbay into a sec checkpoint. (They just completely overhauled all of maint so I imagine one little room isn't that much work)

Take the code for brig doc (which already has all the necessary access), copy and paste, change the name and some appearance gear. For a uniform I've tried a few things but my favorite has been white jumpsuit, white cap, jackboots and black/fingerless gloves.

Done deal. Medbay guard is then born. Overextended security force on the overpopulated server gets some relief. Antags get a bit more of a challenge.

It's not just antags job to make the game interesting, thier opposition is meant to make it more interesting for them as well :P

It'd even give antags another potential location to steal gear from like they already do with the arrivals checkpoint.

I'll even volunteer myself to create the wiki page for this class as long as someone who is capable of adding it to the game does it. I'll do anything I'm capable of to help make this happen.

I'm aware this isn't something that can happen overnight I'm just trying to keep it alive till someone says they are working on it lol

Do I need to start a topic in code discussion or do I just cross my fingers and hope? Who do I have to befriend? I need to know where to start lol

The Bouncer PR is still open, though it would appear to have fallen by the wayside.
