  1. You're assuming most of the crew care. It isnt stacked against the chef unless he's a target. It's a minority that play for "sec vs antags". If you're outnumbered just accept you're not gonna deny them all their greentext and focus on the real threats. Accept that the blueprints will get stolen. And maybe recruit more sec members, call ert, etc. I prefer the odds against me personally. 2 sec vs 10 tators is way more fun than the reverse for me.
  2. It's only retarded if you play to "win" by "beating" the antags. Otherwise it's just a tough round for security. But that's ok, balancing the game around "antags vs sec" isn't really needed as the most engaging stories generally come from desperate situations. Play for the story and not to deny greentext and suddenly it turns from retarded to awesome.
  3. Someone saying "Person X is a traitor and punched me once" should not give everyone the all clear to murder them. If you want lynch mobs chasing "valids" then other stations are a better bet.
  4. Firstly, it's not meta knowledge to know about things security are briefed on. Every TSA agent knows about terrorists and shoe bombs, ofc NT would know about the Syndicate and e daggers. Secondly, actually enforcing what every character is supposed to know is bloody hard. Unless it's canon that everyone is brainwashed between shifts, then who is to say my character hasn't worked with the syndicate before (esp if a collab), arrested them before when working as sec officer, or just overheard them talking? If we wanted proper "stealth" items, then mechanically restricting it is the best idea.
  5. I've always considered this the difference between a security guard at a shopping mall patrolling the various tunnels etc, as opposed to assuming terrorists are going to attack and searching everyone for bombs.
  6. Necaladun has retired as of this time, although it'll take awhile to weasel all the bastards permissions out of the system and hand things over properly.
  7. my char slots are full :( This'd be a great idea imo.
  8. We've considered a few things like that, but the major worries we had were with elitism and it causing problems for people being treated poorly due to low playtime, and people with high playtime acting as if they're in charge/the boss/etc (esp for nukies), when playtime =/= skill.
  9. The truly robust teach others to be more robust. If you can't teach others, then you're not really that robust.
  10. Rather than on a per-PR basis, I think a reward for the top X number of contributors in Y amount of time could work. Make them compete for it!
  11. A task force isn't needed - anyone can comment on PRs, issues, etc. I encourage anyone who feels like doing so to do so.
  12. Surprisingly, more maints etc doesn't actually mean faster merges. More people to discuss things in general slows things down, as more people need to be consulted and agreed with. A lot of these would be much easier with less people. The 538 reported issues isn't really something more maints would fix. That requires people to actually code fixes to, and then go through them. Anyone is able to do that, they don't need special roles to do so. A lot of them aren't even relevant anymore, and could easily be marked for closing if people just put the time in. We prefer in general to use text, as that is logged and can be referred to more easily. We actually do have days where we spend a couple of hours discussing these things, every week. Recently things have been a bit slower than we'd like, IRL has gotten in the way, and IRL>spessmen. If you wish to help, I suggest going through the issues on the github, and/or helping others clean up their code and review it.
  13. Lightfire has retired from their position as CM and GA. o7 @LightFire53
  14. Common sense would say the Captain is more expensive than Renault, but, as Tay said - there's no price tag on anything. The whole "minimalize" part doesn't say prevent expenses either. Corp is an awful lawset.
  15. Superheroes, sidekicks, and command staff, in peace talks. (Meanwhile, a the real heroes - engineering, stop a tesla release).
  16. Here's an old one! http://tastyfish.github.io/paradise-death/
  17. After an extended break, Darkis95 has returned, and will be a Trialmin to re learn the ropes.
  18. I see no reason why not? Can anyone think of one?
  19. TullyBBurnalot has retired from his position as Head Of Staff, and will be put out to pasture in a field of paperwork. DarkLordPyro has been voted in as his replacement. All hail the new DarkLord.
  20. Nurses, Surgeons, and Doctors aren't the same either - alt titles aren't meant to all be the same job specifically. It might work as an alt title for coroner (which could also use medical examiner as an alt title), but considering the virology department is the only one to work with disease, it makes sense to me that's what it'd be an alt title for.
  21. D20: Stupidly destructive, should be S level. Cham Sec Huds: Stealth items like that are a bit weird, C level would make sense to me for something like this. Meat Cleaver: Although stupidly damaging, it is just a meat cleaver which doesn't scream "syndicate" to me as much. But considering the damage it does....I'm torn here. Voodoo Doll: It's pretty clear anyone who has this is up to no good, and the whole...black magic aspect of it...But because it's pretty minimal influence wise, I wouldn't mind it being more acceptable to be caught with. Dart Pistol: The ease at which RSGs are able to be obtained is another issue, the dart pistol is as powerful as chem is at the time. At the very least, it should be a weapon, as it's clearly not NT tech. Syndicate Pistol: Because these are part of maint loot (although just with 1 shot), S level is a bit of an issue here. I'd like the "syndicate" aspect to be removed from it, tbh - 10mm pistols exist IRL, and I'm pretty sure they're not part of the syndicate. Riot Pistol: Yeah, C Cham Jumpsuit: The main uses of this are infiltration - and because identity theft isn't actually in space law (yeah i know oversight etc) i think it needs to be illegal if someone manages to prove you have one. Missing Items: Agreed, as does every single nuke op item - Maulers are technically not contraband? :p 4 seems to much for me. The simple answer is - don't carry multiple items of contraband at a time - or just don't get caught.
  22. Not at all. If you had two toolboxes, one did 10 damage, the other did 11 damage, with no other differences, then one is objectively superior. If you've never seen two people engage in a toolbox fight to the death, observe more - you'll see it quite regularly. As an admin with attack logs, trust me in that it happens. Other races having bonuses with no downsides justifies them being nerfed - not giving a strong combat advantage to your preferred race of choice.
  23. Player vs player, a 10% brute reduction means one is objectively stronger and going to win in a toolbox-vs-toolbox match or the like. After 10 hits, they'll be in crit, but you won't. Lore is not justification to make someone that objectively superior. It not being a "competitive" game does not mean we're going to ignore such balance issues - especially when there are so many competitive aspects to the game. Making one race objectively superior in combat would be a terrible move to the overall balance of the game. Skrell have a few very minor plusses and minuses. Headpockets, but are able to be murdered by ethanol quicker. Minor, flavourful things that have very little impact on combat.
