  1. I've given you two chances now to just succinctly re-write this in a way that isn't just annoying to read. "Respect" isn't writing with flowery, wanky prose, it's respecting my time and making it easier on me to judge the situation.

All in all, you're making a huge deal over what is fairly simple - powergaming does indeed cover 'pre-emptively' preparing for antags, and 'listen to the admins' is one of the rules - if you have issues with what is going on, you take it up outside of the round

Please. I'll ask one final time - just write properly and succinctly and tell me what your problem is. As a fan of literature, I hope you'll recognize that brevity is the soul of wit.

  2. You've been on the server a week. Don't tell me how to hire staff. Knock off the "dear sir" crap.

Tell me what happened, stick to the facts, and stop writing like this is a personal hobby. Be succinct and professional in your approach, this isn't here for you to have fun with - this is for complaints about admins. Go write in a journal if you want to have fun with it. Show some respect.

Was this complaint wordy? Yes. Writing is an enjoyable and therapeutic gift

Reading this is not. Repost it, sticking to the facts. Admin complaint forums are not for you to have an enjoyable theraputic experience. By all accounts, this looks pretty accurate - you were overprepared, and failed to follow admin instructions.

I'll give you a day or so to repost a proper complaint that isn't just a waste of my time. Show some respect to me and make it easier, this isn't the place to vent or tell me how to hire admin staff. You come off here as kinda insane.

In a few settings I've seen that's the 'official' term, but on the street it's wet-ware, just like cybernetics are called 'chrome'.

Bio-Chip Injector I like. No risk at all of it being confused with anything else. Assuming nothing better in the next few days I'll go with that.

  5. This is great, thanks for this. One tiny thing I'll add as a thing I try to do for my characters is give them a favourite food. It's minor but it helps keep my characters mentality in mind - eg, my greytider loves junk food, my unathi sec officer wants proper fresh meat, my grey is happy with nutriment because it's just sustenance. Little preferences like that start to add up to fully flesh someone out.

  6. CentComm officers are allowed to enforce 'common sense' decisions like not letting the clown be command staff. This is to help enforce an MRP environment.

This does not need to be made more apparent because you're the only person who has had a problem with this in ~8 years.

If you want to play a member of command, I advise you pick a role that is not the clown. Or mime for that matter.

Complaint is without merit and resolved.

  7. Hi there,

First of all, I very much need to address this:

On 10/16/2021 at 10:06 AM, dip said:

Brief Description: Banned from the server for swiping an unloaded nonlethal weapon from the bartender - something that 100% could have and should have been handled in-game by SEC. Falsely accused of self-antagging and was told that civvie assault against me was permissible by Paradise Station rules.

This is not what you were banned for. This shows you've either completely missed the point, or are intentionally lying here. Here's the actual ban reason:

    Quote

Explain how you were not trying to ruin a round by stealing from and harassing a bartender all shift on the forums. Also explain how you're not trying to play the victim card by saying he broke the rules by "using harm intent." After 600+ hours you clearly do not understand the rules nor spirit of the server.

You weren't banned for swiping the shotgun. You were banned for stealing it as a non antag, and shooting the bartender with it. You cannot claim self defence when you're being disarmed of a weapon you just stole off someone. You stole from him, then attacked him with the shotgun, toolbox, and your fists.

As a non antag, you should not be stealing from and assaulting other crew members. Again I remind you - it is not self defence if YOU provoke someone, steal from them, then shoot them when they try to disarm you of what you just stole.

Additionally, it appears you have misread the ban message. It means that you should explain on the forums, not that you harassed him on the forums.

Ionward was correct here, your actions are not in line with the rules. If you're not an antag, do not go around robbing and shooting fellow crew without admin permission.

Complaint is without merit. In addition:

On 10/16/2021 at 10:06 AM, dip said:

I was not attacked in self-defense, I never harmed my assailant.

The logs show otherwise. In addition to you lying about the reason for the ban, I would like some explanation as to why you are lying to me in this admin complaint.

  8. Hi there.

I've just read 15 pages of forum posts, followed by ~30 page of our resident log bot @Abydos's investigation into what the hell actually went on here. I'm going to make this as short and snappy as possible after all that...which is going to be difficult.

First of all I want to say this was an incredibly frustrating and bullshit situation you were thrown into, and I don't blame you for getting angry about this. Having this many lies spread about your actions and people not believing you would frustrate the hell out of even the most veteran security player out there. It took extensive reading of logs to see what actually happened here.

@LightFire53 was correct in that you shouldn't have stripped the headset - that should be reserved only for direct threats, such as "fellow syndicate come break me out". Minor thing, no big deal, don't worry about it. It's a minor point of SoP honestly. Lightfire was right to remind you of that - it's a really frustrating thing to get your headset stripped, and is often a prelude to being murdered.

Lightfire missed a lot, and I can't fault him there at all - there is a hell of a lot to go over here, and it can't be easily done in game while the round is flowing, especially on an empty stomach! Admins in game are human after all, and have limited time to review things. Had you communicated everything in a calmer manner I think it would have gone smoother - but considering the absolute bullshit there, I don't blame you for getting worked up. It took multiple admins and a few hours to resolve this all.

The level of greytiding and lying about the situation to other security you were in has resulting in harsh administrative action for the player in question, who was very liberal with the truth...to say the least. There was some clear OOC bias towards his player, and had anyone taken the time to stop and listen to what you said, this would have gone much, much better. The magistrate should have listened to you - it is clear he stole security items, was in possession of contraband, and resisting a search. The logs have shown the PDA was not taken by you, but by the same security officer who grabbed the ammo. I've talked to them, and they were very confused and getting false information, on top of other stresses in the round unrelated to your action.

Please in future remember admins don't have all the information, and to try to keep calm while you explain things - if you tell an admin you're going to take a minute or 5 to grab a glass of water/beer/smoke/whatever to get yourself together, they'll respect you a hell of a lot. Everyone here was pretty stressed out and overwhelmed, and this made things worse and worse. In the end, the person at fault for this was the person who committed multiple crimes then lied repeatedly about them.

I'm happy to consider this resolved - @LightFire53 was in the right do at the way he did with the information he had at the time. Other players - including yourself - were overwhelmed and stressed. The criminal in question was intentionally frustrating you and breaking server rules to do so, and has had administrative action applied.

Thanks for posting this, and I'm sorry about this whole situation happening. Multiple admins have expressed their disgust at the way you were treated, and think you did very well given the circumstances.

  9. Hi there,

All in all this is a really, really ridiculous situation. Simply not yelling about performing fellatio on your brown cock would resolve this.

Randomly talking about fellatio because 'it's funny' is not the kind of environment we want here. Yes, humour is absolutely subjective - and in this case, the admin staff are the ones who get to pick. We want a certain decorum in the server, and while we don't require you to wear a monocle and top hat, we do want people to act with a higher level of class than an imgboarder.

All you really have to do to get unbanned is agree to act a tad bit more seriously and not be easily mistaken for a 4channer.

    Explanation given, complaint resolved.

  10. I am tired and rather busy with some IRL bullshit so excuse me if I don't go for a long time with this.

So to be clear - you don't want to play if you can't go around saying 'nya' and calling everyone Senpai?

I hate my ironic parody tigiri katana chan to be the hill i die on i really do but frankly this really felt like over-reach from your part  when i played regularly we had characters like that if not much worse on the server all the time and they got no lash back.

That's possible the dumbest hill I've seen someone choose. Amazing. Your choice here.

I don't care to argue the merits of MRP vs LRP/HRP here or anything like that. This whole thing is absolutely too stupid. Just don't be a cringe anime person please for the love of god. Think of how it looks to new people logging into the server - I wouldn't want to play on a server that allows that and sure as hell don't want to headmin one. If an admin tells you to stop a gimmick, stop the gimmick. If they tell you not to commit suicide because you can't say Nya, just go to cryo. It's that simple.

Complaint is without any merit at all and can be considered resolved, Senapi. Nya~

  11. Sorry for the delay here,

It seems this is a case where the initial 'plan' would have been acceptable, then spiralled out. As @LightFire53said, had he knowledge of the future developments he woulda cracked down on it, so I'm satisfied he took the correct actions based on his knowledge.

Remember, if in doubt, ahelp! Even if we have all logs on, we can miss things in the spam, or when we go to get a drink or something.

My stance is concerning contextless, pre-emptive situations.

Very much this. Escalate things based on the context - nuke ops coming? Go nuts to spot them. Antag hanging in one area being trouble? Sure.

Pre-emptive escalation is shitty, but doing it in direct response to a specific threat is something else entirely.

If there's an actual threat that somehow requires this, that's one thing - same as any other response and preparedness. It very much counts as 'overprepared'. If there's something very bad like slings, or cult are continually using the incinerator as a base - then it comes under 'an attempt to fight back', and thus should only be done with authorisation, overseen by security etc.

  14. We're aware of the issue with the recent increase in rads from the recent PR, and ansari has made a revert for it - https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/16445

The Supermatter is a WIP, and will take quite some time to get to the levels we're happy with. We want it to be dangerous, but sustainable. It's a hard balance to get. We've been constantly tweaking this game for years, and there's never been a time when we're happy with the levels of everything.

    4 hours ago, LtGerbal said:

Please take your time. And pretty please hurry.

Yeah, we can't do both. That's ridiculous.

Our coders are unpaid volunteers. This kind of attitude is exactly what has turned off so many, and why they are so hesitant to engage in a lot of mass communication with the community. Please remember there are actual human beings - again, unpaid volunteers - doing the work here, and this kinda of attitude can be very demotivating.

In general, you can message heads about this kind of thing or ask in coding chat in future. There's also a forum for code discussions.

    Ps

@ExusAlike you're not supposed to but what you said was dead on so I'll let it pass.

  15. Hi there,

While murderboning all of security 'just in case' or pre-emptively acceptable for antags in general, it seems this was done specifically and strategically to attempt to take out the HoS - specifically:

    On 7/27/2021 at 4:31 PM, LightFire53 said:

they were making use of things such as PDAs, Security ID's, and a voice changer to further their actions.

This seems more than just murdering security for the sake of murder, and to be directly related their goals of taking out one of the hardest targets on the station.

    On 7/27/2021 at 4:31 PM, LightFire53 said:

As I treat PM's with confidentiality, I was not open to providing all the details to another player. Mitchs had pressed further, but came across in PM's as someone who was unhappy with my response, which is not an uncommon response to when I don't share all the details of actions I take. While I did not officially close the conversation with them, I had felt my last statements were sufficient.

Admins don't need to explain details - especially if it would reveal IC information such as it being part of a greater plan. "Legit" is really all they need to tell you, and you can ask for more clarification after the round.

    On 7/27/2021 at 4:31 PM, LightFire53 said:

Acknowledgement of wrongdoing or disputing of: I disagree with the statement that my judgement call was wrong, nor with the statement that they were "murderboning" security. It's not like they were going loud and causing a ruckus non-hijack, they were stealthily removing security from play to further an objective held by the head of security. I would also disagree a single statement of accomplishment would be bragging. This entire situation would be different if they had no security related objectives.

This makes sense to me, and seems in line with the antags objectives, and the rules about tackling people to further your plans. Security is a dangerous job, and does carry more risk than usual of this sort of thing - eliminating a bunch of security along the way is something that is bound to happen. However:

    8 hours ago, Sixzma said:

they didn’t even bother to loot and instead just throwed my body down disposals. Honestly I don’t know about the other officers, only know Mitch side of the story.

This probably should have been ahelped tbh, as this is the part it seems to be going over the line, which doesn't seem part of what Lightfire referred to when talking to the player and Mitchs. Creating a ruckus and using the PDA/IDs of security and a voice changer to get into the brig is one thing, but this is the point at which it was going into 'murder all of sec' territory, and the plan had been abandoned with the goal of just eliminating sec. It doesn't seem @LightFire53was aware of this, so in future I highly recommend ahelping these kind of things. One sec taken out as part of a plan is one thing, but if we get multiple sec being killed (Especially in medbay like that) then it points to a pattern.

I'd likely recommend noting the player to see if such things continue, and/or talking to them if they're online at the time - @LightFire53 probably knows more of the overall context so I'd like you to say what action you think should be taken given the extra information?

  16. The brigbay isn't really meant at all to be a full treatment centre. It's intentional that they are lacking in many supplies - the kits and sleeper are enough to stabilize people and get them to the real medbay. It's meant for boo-boos and stabilization most of all.

It's meant to be more of a medic role than a doctor/surgeon/etc. While you can set it up to do more, that can be said of any role or department. We have no intention of increasing the healing power of the brig phys at all.
