  1. I played for a bit on other servers with this sprite set. For me it's not really a matter of adjustment; I'm just not a fan of them to begin with. I don't really see why we have to change our sprites, they really looked fine as is.

  2. I can't decide if I like this idea or not. I do definitely see it being abused to be a total ass, but I also can't deny it's kind of funny. Perhaps the *spin emote could be used to remove it.

I know this is a somewhat different topic... but making borgs crew isn't particularly sensible, nor does it change anything. As well, if someone wants to pin a medal on a borg... I mean, yeah, it's weird, but it's not exactly breaking the Geneva convention, space/ time/ physics or even really SoP. There aren't any morale issues to it, either.

  3. The issue with xenomorphs is that is basically takes everything bad about the instant stun system and puts it into one mob. When I first began playing SS13, I used to love xenomorphs, but the changes they received over time were... ridiculous, to say the least. Hunters alone are capable of stunning nearly everything in the damn game, at both close and long ranged distances.

While I am in favor of difficult game mechanics by all means, I think it's a bit much--yet, it's become a requirement for xenos in order to get anywhere, for the most part. Terrors are much better, in this regard. They're powerful, easily capable of taking a few hits and decimating people--but they're slow and rely on traps such as webs, or guerilla strategies for their victims until they have sufficient numbers. They're a lot more interesting to fight or deal with as a result.

On topic C I see where people are coming from, no one should willy nilly be like "Huh yea, you know, fuck my freedom and all, make me a tin can please." (although insane characters are allowed but you aren't allowed to use them as a excuse to break rules) but theres also of course the balance implications, especially when we have a thread where Necaladun gave the all clear for borgs to valid hunt. It's understandable that some players really just want to play borg and enjoy it, but those players number few and if they really want to they can still just cryo and spawn as a posi brain. I don't think we should allow IC borgings. Maybe to make up for it however we change the implant SOP to be that robotics is the first place you go for implants, as well as giving the RD more control over allowing what types of implants (Even though they can already veto basically anything they want, unless ordered by the captain). Maybe make it so implants, like borgings currently, require a written forum signed by the Robo, The person who wants the implant(s), and the RD/Acting RD/Captain in that order if the former is un-available. But have combat implants and the like require HoS approval (as they currently do)

I agree with this, but I think it would be best to potentially start small in regards to changes like this; it'll be a fairly large cultural shift.

  5. We did this before and it was reverted by yours truly because it was jarring.

I use door bolt lights far more than I do timers. Most things that people want timers on them can be modified at the start of the round and left alone for the entire shift.

Lights, however, have many, many uses; primarily in being sneaky.

Perhaps, however, we could have a thing for, say... shift + middle click?

  6. Bit unsure as to how I feel about this--although, it does make me think I should add a section to my suggestion thread for SoP, about MMIs/ positronics being slotted into mechas.

I can definitely see the reasoning behind this suggestion, that being a person put into a Ripley would likely want mining comms. However, when it comes to things like MMIs in durands or gygaxes... ehhh.

  7. Point C itself isn't presently going to invoke 'overwhelming IC and OOC restrictions' aside from potentially adding a sensible psychiatric checkup.

While the topic itself does tie into point C, the suggestion at hand will likely only make an impact for players who want a certain type of roleplay. Many roboticists will likely still perform borgifications with the proposition I've given; nothing about it has, at this moment, suggested or required they don't perform borgifications. It merely gives them the option to decline.

just want to point out that I feel like this sentiment has two separate opinions that are a bit at odds with each other. If someone wants to be a "low-impact" cyborg like a janiborg or service cyborg, it makes little sense to restrict them to the extremely small pool of roundstart borgs for something that's primarily just a fun/rp-driven role. It can actually be significantly worse for the station (depending on pop and department population) if the two roundstart borgs fuck off to do low-impact roles.

Obviously you don't want two secborgs to start, and then have five people come in and get borged so that you've got seven secborgs running around making life miserable for everyone, either, so the sentiment that cranking out borgs at-will is potentially quite bad as well.

But I think it's relevant to bring up that there are some cyborg roles that have a lower influence but are still quite fun, and perhaps they need to be distinct in a way that allows people to play them without getting lucky enough to roll roundstart Cyborg, and taking up a crucial slot for cyborgs that are more impactful. I might argue that it should be easier to get borged as a crewmember if you want to play those roles.

Overall I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment that leaving crucial roles like medical or sec in order to be cyborged is really bad. I think it should be a thing that's primarily for civilian/assistants or people with a good IC reason to ask for it.

I think another forum thread for this discussion would be best; this is fairly off topic to the actual proposition at hand.
