  1. Jesus, Issac, I spent a whole round of nations as Captain trying to talk you down from scientopia/Vulp genocide the other day. I do like this notion of objectives, however. What if, 30 minutes after roundstart, every head got a fax from a non-NT corporation. "We understand you have a situation and we're willing to rescue you if you do something for us. We have several requests but have sent the requests we want from each department to their appropriate head..." ...but instead of that happening, i.e the RD getting Science's request, they might get Security's. Everyone gets a random fax. All of the faxes together need to be fulfilled which will unlock a shuttle call home. This would require every department to work together. Maybe the faxes get redistributed every 15 minutes thereafter in case one department doesn't want to play ball, there's a chance a peaceful department might get their list. But how to code this? Or what the requests might be? That is the tough part, I think.
  2. I do like the notion of engines. But if science does their job correctly and mining is half-competent, you'd be able to make the max engines pretty quick. What about doing something like the mechs? If you have the option of putting the pod into "overdrive" that gives you a speed boost of 1 but triples battery use and maybe does damage to the pod over time?
  3. Really? Most rounds as medical, I've seen the CMO get their Odysseus. And then proceed to neglect them for the rest of the round.
  4. Despite knowing next to nothing about atmos, sometimes I play atmostech precisely because they do nothing all shift. I sit at the computer and watch alerts and press buttons.
  5. I think pods were a little fast to start with. I'd be interested to know the specs of the nerf - how fast pods were before and how fast they are now. But I agree with Flattest that at least some nerf was deserved.
  6. I think this is a fair compromise. I think it should really zap battery life though, making them only feasible with hyper-capacity cells and giving even the bluespace battery a run for its money, because let's face it, any Science and Supply departments that are halfway competent make them possible by 13:00.
  7. As Captain recently, I awarded a certificate to a crew member and thought it would be cool if there were frames for papers/photos also.
  8. +1 A better solution than an Engi autolathe.
  9. Wow, I am so dumb. I see a mustard-colored name and think Lemon for some reason. Probably because there's only a few mustard names. Sorry Tastyfish, thanks so much for this!
  10. Eh, I'd be fine with an NO2 environment for some vox I can think of, yaya?
  11. I say give the sprite a secHuD (spider with sunglasses!), make it that he'll go hostile on wanted mobs or xenos/borers/cult constructs/etc. (How do we handle friendly ones via xenobio?) His hostility should be limited to disarm/stuns. Maybe a special chem injector could be added to the Syndie uplink that would make Araneus hostile toward loyalty implanted crew (and not just disarm/stun) Araneus should also have some sort of command that will make him docile, if only clicking on him with either help intent to pacify or disarm intent to activate. And one other thing. When Araneus identifies a mob that he can attack, let him come on the radio like Beepsky and instead of "Beepsky says: 'Responding'" make it "Sergeant Araneus chitters"
  12. I don't know. Maybe... if you spend a KP in one round, you can be allotted a bonus KP in the next (server consecutive) round (max of one bonus KP). But this doesn't taste good to me.
  13. I think camera assemblies in the engivend is enough. As a proud supporter of Cargonia, I'd hate to see our relevance diminish any more.
  14. So, the implementation of the multicolor pens is awesome. Thanks so much, coders. I've been playing Captain recently and noted that the Captain just has one black pen in his office, and being one of the most likely to send faxes, he should have access to other colors as well. Can the standard be changed to "anyone with fax machine access" gets at least one multicolor pen? Perhaps the Captain can get an engraved fountain pen like the Rep to stand out from the other heads.
  15. rude. Allowing the captain to circumvent SoP if they believe it will keep order and productivity on the station should be written into sop. Didn't mean to be rude, I honestly thought that was a troll comment because of the implications. I mean, we are here to develop SoP to prevent things from going off the rails like that. That said, I agree with you in part that the Captain should be able to ignore SoP in situations. "Captain's Prerogative" as Picard used to say. Ignoring SoP however to do medieval punishments, however, is not where I mean that to go. And it looks like Tully has that covered.
  16. I just did; nothing happens because the paper would have to have an explicit attackby() that referenced the virus dish, or the virus dish would have to have an afterattack() to specify for this to happen---neither of these are the case; the only place the virus dish is references, outside of Viro code, is making "ruined viruses dishes" with microwaves. You can click the paper ONTO the virus dish, and it will shatter it (50% of the time), but abusing the hell out of the disk (which both of you are suggesting) by itself, by clicking it on the wrong places or onto something is literally impossible. I'm not saying it's impossible to shatter a disk; I'm saying it's impossible to shatter it in the manner in which you both are describing. I don't know what to tell you, Fox, I just don't. It's not impossible, because it happened just the way I described it. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.
  17. And I'm saying you're flat out wrong, both based on personal experience, and based on the fact that what you're describing literally cannot happen under any circumstance as it's not coded. Literally the only thing that can break it is by hitting a disk with something else; you can never break a disk by putting it in the wrong spot or hitting it against something. It literally cannot happen. Fox, I'm sorry, but it happens. We're not lying to you. It breaks against paper from the disease analyzer. Check again.
  18. I sincerely suggest you actually demonstrate your point before throwing around accusation (hint: I used to play medical and science exclusively)---I also sincerely suggest you demonstrate how that's possible, as there's literally nothing in the code that make it shatter other than the condition I just mentioned: https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradis ... ces.dm#L38 I break samples all the time by accidentally clicking them on papers output from the disease analyzer.
  19. Well if we don't outright ban it, per my suggestion earlier, it will be de facto allowed. That's why I made my second suggestion. Tully, a lot of people have strong opinions about airborne/contact viruses. I've encountered it IC, via ahelp, and in this thread. Either ban them, restrict them or explicitly allow them in SoP, otherwise there's going to be several times when viro will come to blows with the crew over unwritten SoP.
  20. I've ahelped before as a viro and have been told to make my viruses inject only. (may have been ahelp, may have been unsolicited) Honestly, as a viro I would like to release my positive virals airborne. I hate being a door-to-door salesman for viruses. What about this: If a viral agent approved for release is not injection-only, the virologist is responsible for providing the CMO with an adequate supply of curative antibodies before releasing the virus to the public. The CMO will, in turn, inform the crew that antibodies are available should someone not seek to be infected. That would satisfy my objections.
  21. This should be enough reason on the eventual Janitorial SoP to say that bodily fluid cleanup becomes their sole concern upon a confirmed virus outbreak. (along with donning their biosuit) Though, perhaps the CMO could be required to make notification to janitorial staff upon a virus outbreak for this purpose.
  22. Got you covered there, Von Bon. My proposal already requires the Captain's (and CMO's, no less) OK along with heads notification to even release a contact/airborne pathogen. So the Cap is basically authorizing a release that could be without consent of the infected. My reasoning is that virals mess with diona crew, and an airborne/contact pathogen shouldn't be released without a damn good reason, the crew knowing and the heads approving it.
  23. Regarding Virology: The virologist shall make any intended viral release inject only. Any intended viral release that is spread by contact or airborne must be approved by the Captain AND the CMO and announced to all heads. The virologist shall not leave virology's quarantined lab if infected with a unknown or harmful virus, or a beneficial virus that is spread by contact or airborne, unless they have the CMO's consent. Approved viruses shall not be distributed to another person without consent unless authorized in advance by the Captain.
