  1. In a game featuring constant chaos, there has long been the question of how free security is to dispel it without crossing a certain line and ruining the game. A while ago @Anticept proposed this change to procedures to help bring things back under control when the fecal matter hits the rotary air dispenser: https://nanotrasen.se/forum/topic/10572-alert-procedure-change/ Interest eventually died out. What changes do you think could be made to make Code Red situations(where things are actually bad, not just because {antag} is "confirmed") a bit more easy to manage? Additionally, should being outside your department without good reason on Red( see Red SOP) be ground for Workplace Hazard charges? Is there another practical way that can be upheld? Or should that element of SOP be scrapped?
  2. >not disbanding IA and allowing the HOS to conduct field executions on a whim
  3. Seven bans were issued to ensure the incident would not be repeated.
  4. Level 1 Biohazard designation is reserved for ERP, allowing tactical teams to more readily assess the threat and deploy counter-heresy tactics.
  5. Erm, for real? Has that actually happened? Yikes. Vox are pox. Dogbeasts spread disease. The most efficient course of action is cauterization by superheated plasma. Yeeeup. A true king among security players ;)
  6. This has always felt like a "we have it because /tg/ has it" sort of feature to me. It's either a McGuffin with a potential to backfire(BSA), or something that theoretically has a use, but will seldom see it(DNA Vault and Shield).
  7. While I can appreciate that it is a player issue, why is there a need to defend the titles to begin with?
  8. Pink Vulpkanin Pink Tajara Pink Unathi Pink anything that isn't IPC Vulp names with "fluff" or "floof" in it Certain individuals making a "floof" PDA chat. Silent HoS players, especially of the floof variety Wardens who do not tend to their ward. Captains and NT reps that think they have any usefulness besides staying out from underfoot of more competent people Any legal staff that aren't of a certain green-haired variety Chemists. Janitors bartenders BaRP being the only RP- think unlisted days Mimes People who fuss about SOP without considering context Sentences delivered without accounting for context Did I mention silent HOS players? outposts Gateways Fun
  9. I once had a "lawyer" help a changeling escape who was due to be executed on account of being a changeling despite their cooperation. As uncouth as that may sound, thus were the legal orders. The lawyer did not care, helped them bust out, and fled the station. Me: "Have you even read the SOP on IAAs?" Them: "I'm not an IAA, I'm a lawyer." I have brought this up before, and I believe the Defender title needs to be condemned to flame, and lawyer is sketchy at best.
  10. Don't worry, I've got a random-name char for that.
  11. Begin incident report: After more than a month, Asset #20326472, employee Quinton Sommer, has been accounted for and recovered. He was found in a small derelict outpost at the edge of company space, where he claims to have been marooned Attached are the relevant debriefings and reports. Medical Examination Security Assessment I had a long-ass interview and everything written up, but I must have hit a wrong key, cause it's gonezo. RIP tl;dr: Quinton helped shut down some insurgents back home years ago, and some of the former members kidnapped him and marooned him in the middle of nowhere as revenge. I really did have a long thing written out. Damn. Anywho, a month in spessman-time really does feel like a long time. Be back to bust heads till I'm banned very soon.
  12. I literally tasered a clown for no reason, and when he complained over the radio, someone non-security said "Shut up clown, you're just saying that to get out of some crime you did." I was crying tears of joy.
  13. Well, if it was my own skin on the line, I'd establish a clique with a bunch of other ultra-humanist characters to stay alive. But, getting to wear the HoS coat and chase baddies would be fun (though getting glomped to death by a slime might not be so pleasant). Though the absolute first thing I would do would be adjusting my beret.
  14. 1. If you are a silent HOS, you deserve to get eaten by your pet spider. 80% of your team's mindset comes from you being seen and heard. That goes both ways though, so if they see and hear you being clueless, you'll be ignored/deposed super fast. Do not be the HOS who disappears into the tunnels alone. 2.Do not rely on your robustness alone. The danger you should pose to criminal scum on the station is not that of one man in an armored coat with some extra gear, it should be that of a cool-headed commander with a well coordinated team of ruthlessly organized and prepared mercenaries. Robustness is a requirement if you take a more hands-on, aggressive playstyle, but a few months playtime otherwise will suffice. 3.Be prepared. Make sure your people are prepared. By this, I don't mean hoard chems, implants, and gear, or any other form of powergaming, but be ready for whatever comes at you. If you and all your contractors don't have maxed sensors, a crowbar, fire extinguisher, radio, and extra cuffs on hand at all times, you're wrong. And get scanned for cloning. 4.Don't rely on electrode-stuns. Disablers and AOE stuns will give you a lot more bang for your buck, and will deplete less quickly. Don't let your team forget that pepperspray and flashes, while useless against you, are quite powerful against the unprepared suspect. 5.Use your warden effectively. Make him keep records up to date, manage implants, and generally keep things from piling up on you while you're away dealing with things. 6. Last but not least, use your brain whenever you can, plan, think, strategize, observe- but failing all that go with your gut. Now get out there and score some valids.
  15. Hmm? Another cringy vulp character back from limbo? @The Respected Man, you get the flamethrower, I'll break out the chainsaw.
  16. I submitted three questions to the Community meeting thread.
  17. Pssh, please, Just make it Martial Law all the time, fix greytiding permanently.
  18. 1-I'm not an atmosia player, but generally view increases in difficulty as a good thing; what's the status on fastmos? 2- I heard a while back about security, in simple terms, being OOCly allowed to be a bit mafia-esque and crack greytide kneecaps. That viable? 3 In relation to the above question, port Baystation "stomp" feature when?
  19. I mean, if someone is hogging a subdepartment or room's resources to the detriment of the department, that's something the Head of Staff or Captain should be available to correct. That said, I've not really ever worked a department where this really applied. Could you give some examples of "calling dibs" in and of itself being harmful? Do you mean hoarding resources(petty crime, btw)? As for enforcing SOP.. well.. The two options are to tie it into space law, which I don't inherently have an issue with-but recognize could go horribly wrong, and giving IAAs more power- which I definitely take issue with.
  20. Metagrudging and playing Head of Staff roles irresponsibly/maliciously are both already bannable and jobbanable offenses respectively iirc. If you're being metagrudged, ahelp.
  21. Vox-tiders. If you go hard and beat them into the pavement and toss them in a cell, a small militia will have formed outside the brig by the time you've set the timer. Now, I'm an oddball and love putting down rioters and xenos en-masse, but the security team as a whole shouldn't have to put up with that. Granted, I haven't seen this in a little while, but I'm inclined to think people will still do it if the conditions are right.
  22. 4. They don't run around screaming "skreee" and stealing random articles while being a foul-smelling nuisance.
  23. Other species make excellent target practice.
  24. One reason per post 1.They're not Vulpkanin.
