  1. Forgot to put this dumb comic here, lol featuring koik, kikeri, and The One Who Saws

  2. Wanted to try a couple of different perspectives. Basically I wanted to have one sketch of Cecilia at a high angle and another from a low angle. My idea was to make it look like she was being reflected in something like a pond or a window, but I'm not quite sure I got the angle right for that. It turns out you can gank one of the deadliest megafauna in the game by just swarming it with killer tomatoes. I admit I've sort of shelved Kirsten as a character (as it so happens, she shares a name with a server regular who's been around for longer so I prefer to avoid confusion), though I still like her design. Edit: Since this, I've elected to compromise with a name change. During a particularly slow round, the librarian swapped out the 'Space Law' book in the brig lobby with a satirically awful Star Wars fanfiction that had been retitled as 'Space Law'. Again, it was a very dull shift up to that point so everyone in security had a good laugh about it. Slaughterdemon. Laughterdemon. I sort of messed up with the blood splash pattern. Initially I'd drawn the bright-red puddle, but then added the darker tone which I thought looked a bit more convincingly like blood splatters, but I couldn't be bothered to blend the two together. Something interesting I've noticed is that antag roles and security both manage to feel like an uphill battle to the person playing them. I think it's because as an antag, the player only needs to consider success or failure in terms of their own individual experience while players in security tend to view 'success' and 'failure' as something that's measured across the entire department and shift. And some miscellaneous tabletop stuff:

  3. Been very busy and my attention span has limited me to simple vox doodles What I imagine Tokorizo and Kikeri's first interaction was like as polar opposites

  4. Vox, for a long time now, have been an integrally unbalanced race. Back in the days of yesteryear, they had a feature removed that made them space proof, but...nothing else was changed to compensate for this loss. They still remain an unclonable race, same as the significantly more powerful Slimeperson race, and only retain very small plus sides compared to the race's immense downsides (bones that are easier to break, a 20% vulnerability to brute damage, relying on specialized internals, etc.). I'd like to put forward a few potential suggestions of features to add to the Vox, and to open discussion for other features and balance, to make them feel more unique as a 45 karma race, and to hopefully help balance them out compared to other comparable races. Here are two of the features that have been discussed in discussions I have been in: Making Vox Faster: Lorewise, Vox are a speedy race. They tend to avoid combat where possible, and will only fight if necessary. It would allow them to evade harm easier, and I don't feel it would make them any more powerful in combat, as the listed 20% Vulnerability to Brute damage remains, ensureing that any hits the opponent DOES land is more likely to cripple the Vox player in question. Another way this could be implemented, is in a speed-burst ability instead of a constant change, as per their lore page: "Despite their size, Primalis musculature is highly dense and capable of extremely powerful and rapid movement. Primalis physiology is ideal for sprinting and repetitive tasks, with experts surmising that the Armalis may be the predominant military force in Vox Society, while the Primalis seem engineered with labour in mind. Despite their engineered physiology, Primalis are still largely susceptible to the build-up of lactic acid in the muscles--rendering their often short bursts of speed little more than that, darting from task to task." Natural Shock Insulation: As described on the wiki, Vox Primalis have a tough, highly resistant outer layer, born of their intention of being the labour race for the Vox as a whole. Along with their natural gift for engineering and construction, it would therefore make sense that they would also have natural insulation due to the thick keratin scales that reinforce their skin. It would add an interesting feature to the race, while remaining not too powerful as too make them the ideal choice for powergaming players: gloves are easy enough to obtain if you know how, and traitors have simple, cheap access to combat gloves as it is. This thread is open for more topics of discussion, or suggestions that others may have to improve and change Vox to be a more interesting race, and to give them upsides to make up for the downsides they face.

  5. Also on this topic, the current Vox sprites actually make them physically larger, and easier to attack or interact with, than other races. It's minor enough, but really noticeable, especially once you have a Vox and any other race standing side-by-side. Dwarfism would bring them more in line with the other races in terms of clickable area.

  6. I'd like to weigh in a possible trait that was mentioned during voice chat and that they could be flashed through eyewear and even possibly stun them. Kidans take that extra brute damage but most brute damage is in fact close combat situations and the only event this trait could not be utilized would be when the kidan is a changeling and can just blow out the bulb or EMP implant but consider experimenting first as those could be seen as a only temporary fix. Flashes are relatively easy to replace and obtain thus stopping the murderous de-sword or changeling from using an arm blade to cut you to pieces and if the kidan has thermal eyes, it's a risk and reward scenario. This could be double edged-sword trait where the kidan has to use a flash or flashbang and it manages to be used on themselves, it's a possible game over unless they are planning to beat the shit out of you. In other words, "skitter skitter, click clack. I'm a fucking ant. OH FUCK THE LIGHT, IT BURNS MY GIANT EYES! WHY DON'T THESE SMALL/GIANT GLASSES PROTECT MY GIANT BUG EYES!?"

  7. Personally Id love the dwarfism bit, its alwyas odd seeing full sized vox, when their supposed to be 3-4ft tall.

  8. I'd like to think not dying to EMPs was the sort of 'buff' Vox got when their spaceproofing got removed, but if you want to keep in line with lore without getting too out of hand, maybe something like Vox start with dwarfism could suffice.
