I don't necessarily think this should be the case, as any ban is considered net negative, and hard to avoid the auto-pilot of what bans entail on Paradise. There are a lot of rules, and nuance.

I'm anxious you mentioned I didn't include the summary. I was hoping that account wasn't considered net negative, and would actually be weighted on my reflection of the incident. Recalling my actions, I thought I put "received" or similar on the response. That means I understood.

When reflecting on this, and the tone of the your response Tourte, I think there is some indication there is an assumption I'm here to just be a problem, but really on the flip side I want to make myself useful to the community I enjoy.

If I may, I see what you're talking about how this was not considered a responsible action, as it's started several times in the wiki that:

On my account here, what I was trying to achieve was doing paperwork, and seeing how the flow was being handled. It went like this:

Asked for some Diona pods at botany. Told no eventually. Then I went to do the paperwork, had the HOP signed it, copied it, presented it to the botany department without luck again. This time I went back to the office with the paperwork, and forwarded it to related heads of staff. I also had looped in CC as I was just being a bit naïve considering CC would maybe just file the thingy, and be done with it. I don't really know how it looks on the admin side, but it's in my nature to see how it would be handled. To my surprise, I ended up committing a faux pas. I was actually filled with anxiety as I worried I was about to be banned or something, but it was a lighthearted response which was a fun learning experience in the end.

As a final note please recognize this is not a complaint, but a comment based on my interactions with staff. I don't know where it's appropriate to post these, as this forum most closely matches the an area for comment.

I changed the clown to a monkey. This seemed to provoke admin comment as the clown was likely upset I did upon them by chance, and turned them into a monkey without any pretext definition. 

In this case my proposed justification was to cause attrition as there was obviously a very tight command structure.

Full description of events:

To elaborate, I had been turning people into monkeys already in genetics because lots of my time was being taken up by people asking questions, or just being nosey.

I wanted to target high level IDs like the CMO or RD with the monkey injections, but 3-4 people found their ways to my demise for any period of time.

I managed to defer lots of suspicious blame to the other genetic staff, and wasting away at the command chain through attrition.

I think the issue with the clown is primarily little pretext, and was random. Was this action considered a net negative? Please let me know so I can make alterations to my playstyles.

Thanks again for reading this. I'll try to be good at taking better notes for everyone, and I was a bit confused with the encounter with admins so I wanted to have some time to reflect, and allow for comment here.

The handling admin was very nice, but scared me as they told me I should know better after 1,000k hours, so I was worried it was certainly considered "net negative", but wanted to be on the record with my due diligence here. In the future when admins contact me, I will try to put my account here for comments by staff.

I also wanted to apologies about the brevity of these, but with more feedback I wanted make these reports as smooth as possible.

Ultimately demoted, and cluwne gibed for faxing a completed requisition for Diona pods to CC.

IAA doing paperwork. I think since I did not go through the Captain, or Magistrate, as I should have tried before faxing CC, a wrath of consequence was given to me.

Is it normal like a dice roll when I do this, or should I expect more consequence in regards to my net negative as a player?

Basically it was a fun response. With my recent record I wanted to know if everyone was in the loop about my possible issue. I want the admins to have fun too, and I think of my faxes as little quests. I used to make faxes all the time late when I was bored, which where usually ignored. Just need some feedback.

I'm saying that it shouldn't kill someone who is slipped, just can cause manslaughter changes or attempted murder charges because maliciously applying it is deadly from an RP perspective.

Hello,

I've gone ahead and caused myself to get banned with my mischief. I choose not to offer much context besides my forum post history, but I would like to make a general complaint on how space lube is handled.

Space lube is an overpowered mechanic in other contexts; one of the worst types of stuns in the game. I do not always go out of my way to grief with it, as I learned from my earlier warnings. However at times tire of walking around fixing things constantly, and I want to motivate people to stop ignoring situations they can easily fix. In this most recent case, I applied lube to several areas of bluespace tiles where the lights where off. It caused an absolute traffic jam, and was insanely successfully in communicating my point I hope. In some reflection I should have also deployed boxed of space tubes for people to easily pick up, and begin to fix the problems. Maybe kept some crowbars scattered about to demonstrate how this mechanic can be fixed.

Additionally, I presume this deed caused an explosion of *bwoinks* adminside, and I sincerely understand what this was stressful on your end.

I conclude that I accept my punishment, and I will obtain a resume from a reputable server. However while I am gone I hope you all consider maybe changing the way space lube is handled. Assuming this is done, you might find it within enforcement to apply the same to bananas, and water, but I do not think that should be the case. Only with space lube.

What about a role to simply monitor cameras and coordinate/monitor coms? Dispatcher?

Dispatcher role could be heavy on making sure officers are responding to things. A lot of times security doesn't really have a clear voice to cut through the noise, so coordination is lost, and antags cause havok.

A robust dispatcher could cause security to redtide/be overpowered in general, so you might consider it a karma role, and increasing the slots available to this position based on population (Perhaps even disable it if the population is too low).

Maybe even go as far to have this role with an ability create one secborg at round start to increase robustness.

I do not suspect the admin had enough time to consider the implications of their actions, or the reason for my request of the codes.

The reason is: As a Traitor CMO, ethered and killed a target they needed to prevent from leaving alive when they were SSD (and had been for several minutes beforehand). Claimed to have checked, but not have noticed due to being "too in the moment". The target was completely immobile and unable to do anything, and with the amount of notes you have, you've run out of excuses for basic mistakes like this.

The Chaplin in question was drunk, and immobile when delivered to medbay. It's not an excuse, it's merely a statement to the situation.

Why was the objective not updated when you checked them earlier in the round?

The antag ban is short, but I am a bit perturbed by the handling of this seems to not have included all the facts of the situation.

I feel the logic behind this is shaky. If I demonstrate a commitment to the community, and I was in a command role, while also being interrogated by security, why would an admin barrage me with another round of self defense? Why do admins like this constantly rely on the statement of someone, if they've already made a decision, and are apparently baiting me into me making "excuses"? I'll be ultra careful from now on, of course. I am thankful for the short ban, but this ban seems to be related to a crackdown by staff recently, and I feel I am just an easy target to fit into the quota for staff appearing to be productive in their role.

I am saying hello to the wonderful people running this station, and the people visiting here on a daily basis.

 

Currently, I am banned because I was/am being a huge tool to the admins, and I didn't follow the rules, or acknowledge the admins request during a conversation.

 

I really enjoy this station, and feel other stations (even private ones), are subpar compared to the pile of awesome that is Paradise Station.

 

New players: Do not defy the admins, or you will get the stick.
