Alright so I kind of went overboard with this. For anyone interested in playing this role, maybe taking it for a "test run" to see if its worth the developers time, here is a pre made form you can copy and paste to paper and hand to the HOP to request this job designation. Paperwork includes what the role entails, SOP, access, equipment, as well as the process the HOP needs to follow to create the job (its a custom job so it needs a little tweaking to have a medical badge to it instead of appearing to be an unknown or civilian on SEC HUDs, I chose paramedic because it appears as a medical badge, but a unique one that differentiates from standard medical staff).

I believe this technically should be a protected job that cannot be a traitor so it'd be nice if nobody abused this job for the sake of getting security access as a traitor until the devs can decide whether to make it a real job or not. Abuse it and I imagine not only will it not become a real job, but it probably won't be allowed through the HOP anymore either. This is why we can't have nice things :P

Anyhoo...heres the form...copy n paste, lets take this job for a spin!

    Employment Application[br]

    Name: [field][br]

    Rank: [field][br]

    NanoTrasen Science Station Cyberiad

    [br]

    [br]

    New Job Title: Medbay Guard[br]

Supervisors: Head of Security and Chief Medical Officer[br]

Role: Patrols Medbay and protect it from any threats. Guard is NOT to leave Medbay and assist security with threats outside of Medbay except for extreme emergencies. The safety of Medbay and its occupants should be the top priority. Threats should be detained or neutralized as necessary, detained threats should be escorted to security for proper processing.[br]

Equipment: Medbay Guard is to be equipped with the same basic gear as a Security Officer has at the beginning of the shift, as well as both a Security and Medical headset. Further security equipment at HOS's or Warden's discretion.[br]

Standard Operating Procedure: Medbay Guard is required to follow the same guidelines as both a Security Officer AND Medical Doctor, prioritizing Security SOP over Medical SOP. [br][br]

I hereby declare that I understand the functions and restrictions of this job and will follow them to the best of my abilities.[br]

    Signature: [field][br][br]

    FOR HEAD OF PERSONNEL USAGE[br]

For job creation, first switch job title to Paramedic to give the employee the proper badging on SEC HUDs, then change to custom job named "Medbay Guard". After this is done the access needs to be manually altered or the Medbay Guard will just have Paramedic access. Access Required: Medbay, Surgery, Mourge, Brig, Security, Weapon Permit, Holding Cells, and Maintenance. The card's skin should be medical.[br]

    Authorization[br]

    Name: [field][br]

    Rank: [field][br][br]

If authorized, please sign here, [field], and stamp the document with the Department Stamp.[br][br]

Guidelines that must be followed. If they are not followed, this form is void and illegal.[br]

    • The department in which the requester is requesting access must first be contacted, and the chief (acting or otherwise) must have been talked to and have authorized this request.

If any criminal activity is done with the help of this extra access, this form will be immediately void and unlawful.

If the chief of the affected department wishes this form void, this form is immediately void and unlawful.

    [br]

    [br]

EDIT: Needed to alter the order of the "HOP instructions" a bit. Tried doing this twice now n both times I've been given back a card with the name "Medbay Guard" with only paramedic access.

Dunno, I feel that there is a niche for that.

Especially, that many people don't play security, because it has a certain pressure and responsibility to it.

Orderly feels less stresful on the longer run.

I primarily play sec, and again comparing this to brig doc, I would love to play this as an alternate role maybe after a really stressful sec round to give me a bit of a break. Hell on larger pop I might just start going to the HOP n requesting this role sorta like gateway explorer. Basic sec access to get gear, and whatever access a medical doctor has at very least, if not all of medbay (aside from CMOs office). I'm gonna give this a go even if nothing else comes of it. Thanks for the idea.

    Name: Tetra Vega

    Age: 37 (2529-present)

    Gender: Female

    Race: Human

    Blood Type: B-

    General Occupational Role(s):

    Primary: Security Pod Pilot

    Secondary: Security or Mechanic

    Biography:

Born on a space colony, she has never set foot on a planet. The station her family lived on was older and run down...it did not have access the resources or technology of the newer stations. Her mother died giving birth to her. Her father died of heart disease when she was 11, forcing her older brother Zeke to raise her. He was one of the engineers trying to keep their old station functional, so she spent much of her time around him and his co-workers learning and helping where she could. He was very strict with her due to her being the only family he had left, which led to her being quite rebellious. When Tetra was 17, she stowed away on a supply frigate visiting the station and set out on her own to escape her brothers restrictive grip. She skipped around from one station to another doing what she could to survive, not really having any purpose. While on her travels she got word of a horrible engineering accident that nearly killed her brother. It was later discovered that the accident was caused by and act of terrorism by the Syndicate. This led to her deciding she needed to do more with her life. She signed up to the military academy and shortly after found herself employed as a security officer on the NSS Cyberaid, where her story continues...

    Qualifications:

Expert knowledge in the operation and maintenance of small space craft

Advanced combat training and knowledge of Space Law

Intermediate medical knowledge from working with and learning from brig physicians. She learned ghetto surgery during her younger years as a mechanic.

    Employment Records:

Prior to becoming employed on the NSS Cyberaid she spent her time as a mechanic, surviving off of whatever odd jobs she could find, hitchhiking her way from one station to the next.

Looking for more of a purpose she became part of the NSS Cyberaid's security force, beginning her career as a security officer. She primarily serves as the Security Pod Pilot but will take on various security roles based on the stations need.

When she wants some down time she will go back to her roots and tinker with a space pod or just hang out as a civilian.

    Security Records:

Major Crimes: 1 count of Manslaughter

As Head of Security, Tetra Vega caused a vampire suspect to ignite by force feeding them too much holy water without sufficient extinguishers present, resulting in the suspect dying. She served a permanent sentence for the duration of the shift and was further reprimanded upon returning to Central Command.

Minor Crimes: From time to time she is reprimanded by Central Command for using unnecessary verbal force on prisoners and hurting thier feelings.

Prior to being employed on the NSS Cyberaid she has various counts of vandalism, petty theft, trespassing, and battery.

    [Clearance: Security]

There is evidence that suggest that, despite her loyalty to Nanotrasen, she has been working for the Syndicate from time to time. It is believed they are forcing her to work using some sort of leverage they have over her. When questioned she appears uneasy yet conveys that nothing is out of the ordinary. NT continues investigating.

    Medical Records:

    Father: Negeroth Vega (2497-2540)

    Mother: Kraesha Vega (2499-2529)

    Siblings: Zeke Vega (2520-present)

    Organs: Mechanical Heart

Family has an irreversible genetic defect that can cause them to suffer from sudden and severe heart failure. The only solution with current technology is to replace the organic heart with a mechanical one.

I like the idea but it'd definitely need to be a separate job (like brig doc). Working sec alot I've definitely seen plenty of instances where officers (myself included) volunteer to stick around medbay when calls to medbay are becoming more frequent, but it could help sec with larger server pops if theyes didn't need to devote resources to this. Don't even need to make them thier own room or anything, just as the brig doc has to take a trip to medbay every shift to get the essentials, this medbay officer would have to take a trip to the brig to do the same.

The role could even help medbay with larger populations as the officer would have some sort of medical knowledge to help with overflow, plus having someone patrolling medbay would probably lead to less unattended dead bodies in the lobby.

Dunno what it takes to add a new job, but this is one I'd enjoy and even pay karma for.

  5. I'm fairly new (been playing a few months). I use the wiki alot, I've noticed alot of things that are either out of date or could be written clearer. I want to help. Is this where I sign up? I spend alot of time sitting in my living room watching Disney or Nickelodeon with my 3 year old so I have plenty of time to read and write lol

I have what may be an unusual questions regarding changeling rounds. I know the idea behind lings is to create confusion and paranoia. That's what makes it fun :P

I've noticed there is always lots of confusion in processing during these rounds, including with myself. I personally get nervous about who we are sentencing because lots of the time it's just based on circumstantial evidenfe, there isn't always that hard evidence that other antags offer. If sec ends up sentencing someone who isn't a ling for being a ling, and hell, goes as far as executing them because lings are dangerous, is that something we could get in trouble for or is it just sort of part of the paranoia and confusing of a ling round? By getting in trouble I guess I'm worried about a possible ban. Not looking for an excuse to execute everyone who is accused of being a ling, just looking for some sort of clarification on what is allowed and what isn't.

Maybe it's just appropriate to let them go, even risking the chance that they are a ling and are going to go on a murdering spree if there isn't anything but circumstantial evidence? I have no clue...hence in asking!

Not sure if this has been experimented with but maybe also make it so blob rounds don't have a hard end to them when the blob reaches a certain size. This terror spider round felt alot like a blob round where the whole station has to pitch in against the threat. Maybe make it so blob rounds just automatically call the shuttle when the blob reaches a certain size kind of like when the cult calls thier diety.

EDIT: though for the sake of realism I supposed the shuttle wouldn't be called due to quarantine.

  8.

I'm sure many will agree with this n I'm just putting it up here to help any momentum this might have. Just played a round where terror spiders appeared within the first 15 minutes, we spent all the way until the 2 hour shuttle fighting them. It felt like a really long and challenging but exciting round. Antags job is to make the game more exciting. Mission accomplished.

PLEASE add this as a game mode in the normal rotation. It was SO much freaking fun.

EDIT: Wanted to add cuz I think this is important, I've been in many matches where terror spiders seem to be a later round thing if the primary antags either fail or are boring, but this round specifically had them very early and it made a big difference.

Yea like I said, I understand there are much bigger fish to fry. Been enjoying learning some other classes I never really tried out before anyways. Chemistry wiz now! Cool to know that the transfer can happen and hopefully will happen eventually. Now I just need to learn virology and I can be a five tool CMO when its unlocked again.

    Thanks for the quick response!

  10.

Not a complaint but I figured this is the most appropriate place to put this. Decided its better to put this up on the forum so whoever needs to address this can at their leisure and I won't be bothering admins mid game with something this complicated.

I was notified 2-3 weeks ago that my account name was not acceptable and I'd need to make a new one.

To start I'm 900% okay with this. When I initially played the game I just did it to check based on an unusual and interesting experience my friend described to me when he did the same. I assumed I'd play it once or twice then quit, wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much. I ended up using an old account name I used on Battle.net when I was a wee lad (HungLikeaKodo...har har...freaking teenagers...) and since then I've dreaded anytime I speak in dead chat.

Can't remember the admin I talked to but I'm sure there's notes. I ended up creating a new account on BYOND and now for the forums as well, ZN23X. My biggest concern was my karma. I had already earned enough Karma on my old account to unlock brig doc (I know that's a cheap one) but also pod pilot...which isn't cheap. I've also since earned 10 more karma on my old account.

When talking to the admin about creating the new account I was told it was possible to transfer karma (or I'd assume just like...add karma to the new account) to compensate for what I'd lose from the old account. I wasn't given a timeline, wasn't really concerned about one, I figured I'd just use the old account when I got an itch to use the classes the new account didn't have yet until the transfer was complete.

I'm writing this post because an admin at the end of a round last night said something like "Hung, you haven't been transferred yet?" and I didn't have time to respond due to the round restarting, that admin was gone next round. I've now sort of decided I'm just going to use the new account and wait for timed unlocks but I'm just wondering if it is at all possible to add karma to the new account or if I just have to earn it all back again.

Again I'm not worried about a timeline, I just want to know if adding karma to the new account is possible so I can stop wondering if my lost karma will ever be restored or not. I assume you are all busy adults like me that have a lot more going on than just this game, and even when it comes to your duties with this game you have much bigger fish to fry than dealing with this issue. I feel bad enough wasting your time with this essay.

Please just let me know what's up when you get the chance.

    Thanks!
