  1. I get tazed on sight a lot for having my ID in my PDA on blue alert. Should really be something about it being compulsory to identify yourself on red but it's a bit of a non issue, if sec can't see your face 9/10 times you'll get a golden bolt chasing you anyway,
  2. It'd be alright as something that shows up when examined but an icon will just be i-bump-u-lol magnet.
  3. The physical frailness in exchange for the darksight/psionisms is a good trade off. Just one thing I can't gget over though, I used to play grey a lot though and stopped because they're just so unrobust, is it something like 20/30% extra brute? 10/15% would be less "lol u lose" tier, would that be adequate to pay off or the telepathy though?
  4. "no fuck you I can call myself what I want it's not against the rules" is what you're usually going to end up getting if you ever question someone. Peer pressure is a great way to root out such things but it's not too effective with 100+ rounds being the norm and plenty of other things to moan about.
  5. Yeah they've always been contentious since unless they outright ban anything referency there's going to be arguments over where to draw the line. Pop culture names kinda take the piss and could do with discouraging (gandalf? really?), but not nearly as much as shitty no effort ones do. Firstname-no-lastname shit should be purged, unless it's a proper I.P.C designation/diona truename/Vox codename or something of course. I'm not even sure if I'm joking when I say muh immursions, I honestly cannot get immursed at all. The old one was mostly fine as it excluded the likes of sanic toils but let us have grendel mordorim, should come down to common sense ideally.
  6. As per title, but with more of a focus specifically against low effort cheese/cringe instead of popular culture blacklisting. I've got nothing against a well placed reference joke or a good name pun (looking at you rawrist) but the ongoing plague of human rogues and vulp wolfs is killing muh immursions and should be stomped. Can't remember why it was ditched in the first place actually, something about player freedom? Whatever it was I'd rather have a bit more jackboot please, standards are really slipping.
  7. Yes please. Although maybe make it so they're instantly openable with a crowbar/correct ID but still plyable open with bare hands with a medium delay. I remember the days of old!firelocks well and being trapped in by them while certainly not hugboxy was more than a bit infuriating.
  8. Yeah I mean that one, it's usefulness is questionable and could do with a range boost that'd need balancing. How long would be appropriate for mini-species PDAing?
  9. I can't remember who said it but I like the idea of it being a spell like ability that takes a few seconds to use and is a little bit obvious. Have it be within 15x15 or however many squares is default view range as a limit and take a couple seconds and give a me emote of "ayy lmao presses xer's palms into xis forehead" and it'd be nice and flavourful.
  10. As everyone else is saying OP is pretty much just describing the warden's job minus actually managing prisoners. Literally all this would be doing would be adding a not!warden, which would just be unnecessary bloat IMO. Buffing IAA's to have brig secretarial responsibilities however, that would be more sensible.
  11. No fun allowed? If someone is too dense to get the joke after the first first obvious puns they probably shouldn't be playing in the first place. It's a game, "professional" shouldn't be coming anywhere near it IMO. The goon wiki does it well, cheeto-stained archives and all makes it fairly clear to take everything tongue in cheek. A little banner in the corner WITH BIG RED LETTERS making obvious wouldn't be amiss though I suppose.
  12. A requirement to call an ERT before getting the 5 minute speedy shuttle with it otherwise taking something like 15 would be nice. Most of the time happen, like the bar getting bombed/the brig gets overrun with greytide and comdomand just up and leave, really needs to be an enticement to at least try and fix things before buggering off to CC.
  13. A lot of the phrasing in the wiki is years old since much of it was originally stolen borrowed from various sources. Admittedly it's somewhat outdated in places and some bits could do adjusting (the aforementioned tyrone). No need to go ministry of truth on it though, it's perfectly legible, the tone is a part of the SS13 magic. I seriously doubt anyone who finds this very niche game is gonna be all that bothered with a bit humour in their job guide anyway.
  14. Have them be a relatively cheap to produce module that robotics can print off and have the power cost be mildly extortionate. Then we can have our memes and not kill the immursions.
  15. TBH I think is what every chaplain should aspire to be.
  16. Meteors/sub antag spawning aside they're not very dangerous at all. Take the void rift for example, depending on whether or not it craps out any soldier spiders a handful of assistants with wrenches easily beat it back with minimal effort. I'm making this post right after witnessing one spawn out.. a grand total of two snowmen and one nurse spider. Even the blob is usually dealt with easily seeing as their spawn positions are universally terrible. They just don't impact much, surely they should require a bit greater effort to fix? I'd propose increasing the number of them. What is it ATM? every 50 minutes or something like that? unless it's a blob/nuke ops round pretty much every shift ends with a crew transfer, I'd say we could do with more going on. Here's a bigger list of things I'd like to see; Thoughts?
  17. Here are the PRs in case anyone is wondering. https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/4505 https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/4551 The null rod proper is actually the most robust option in terms of pure damage dealing a whopping 18 brute (comparable to a sharpened kitchen knife/wielded spear, minus the cutting, or an unsharpened cleaver). The other options are more gimmicky with specific drawbacks/utilities and usually deal 15 (identical to a kitchen knife/strike from a pickaxe), for reference most "robust" commonly available items ala toolboxes and fire extinguishers deal 10, things like wrenches deal 5, while something like an e-sword does 20-25. IMO as a unique item for a unique role the damage/utilities are justifiable, especially seeing as pretty much all the rest of round-start power lies with sec/command. They're no more dangerous than anything science can print off 20 minutes into the round or what any greyshirt can stick together with crap laying around tool storage/steal from the kitchen. The reskins are !!fun!! too.
  18. Kitchen knives (and their nasty big brother the cleaver) are just as deadly as the buffest null rods and nobody has a problem with the chef. Too many chaplains valid because they're pretty much just super powered assistants ATM with no responsibilities, IMO this has a lot to do with the chapel being fugly, it really needs a redesign.
  19. Armour aside (half as good as riot gear FFS) the items are fine, the chef has access to deadlier armament and there's no problems with that, it's the playstyle that needs fixing. No more hugboxing please it never ends well and would kill the SS13 magic. The only problem with chaplains is that they're allowed to get away with too much because "it's their role lol". The admins need to come down on valid hunting chappies and the people who enable them (looking at you wardens) like a tonne of bricks, then the problem would go away. We're now in the days of geared-up chaplains leading gangs of sec officers through maint hunting slings, this should not be a thing but is allowed for some reason. It's only really been a thing since we got the templar armour anyway. My suggestion would be to leave the rod alone (it's a niche item that's no more or less than robust than any other "weapons grade" item like spears/ghetto chainsaws/kitchen knives), make the templar armour hazard vest tier (or at least sec vest tier instead of half as good as riot gear, it should keep it's protection from unholyness though), and give the chaplain an official role in SoP as a priest and councillor who may or may not be Van Helsing but is still bound by space law regardless. They should get a lot of leeway when it comes to vamps/cultists/spookyness but seeing as we're only seeing powergaming assholes who act against the likes of clings and traitors just as much some suffering is needed. Not so ninja edit: Just to add on to what I said above, if you do what I do and ghost frequently you notice the same names popping up in jobs like RD and chaplain, and the same validy borderline assy behavour. I'm probably just self reinforcing but it seems to support that it's the players behind it abusing the potential for the job that's at issue and not the job itself, we had an identical problem at one time with backup captain HoPcurity and detecturity which has largely since vanished into the ether following stricter rules enforcement.
  20. They're a priest in spaaace, just as variable as any other role. Maybe he diddles vox in his spare time or something, the validing is getting ridiculous though and needs reigning in hard.
  21. i tabled blocked in maint pls nerf No really though it's kinda strange we can't do this already, can already push them over and go past from the right angle so why not all the way over with an extra click?
  22. Would be fine so long as borgs can counter it by turning off their radio speaker.
  23. Impossible to enforce, so long as the server is listed and has the "everyone knows everything clause" it just doesn't fit right. Too true, just because I'm self aware enough not to constantly shit up the forum with my crying about it doesn't mean I'm not still pissed about instastun.
  24. TBF if the AI gets killed in that way and nobody notices there's other issues at hand, stuff like that is exactly what penetrator rounds are for. It's just the price you pay for having that nifty super-secure satellite, borgs should really get an alert when their master AI is terminated though if only so somebody notices.
