  1. Bumping my own thread because I believe this is necessary from a logical standpoint and it doesn't seem difficult to implement. If an admin says stop, I'll stop, but someone please show this to one of the coders.
  2. I'm from Florida, home of heat, humidity, rednecks, alligators, old people, Pitbull, beaches, and heat.
  3. Maybe I'm talking out of my ass because I've never done Xeno Archaeology, but as someone who plays almost exclusively scientist, I'd love to see a satellite area dedicated to wild-ass experiments. Something like the Test Lab, but bigger and cooler. I can't really elaborate since this is just a concept I'd like to see, but this could solve the mining problem by making my hypothetical area a satellite like how Engineering has, and not an asteroid outpost.
  4. Who the hell actually likes E-N? I almost always see him get shoved into the Robotics Wardrobe or the Mech Bay where no one can see him? I understand that a robot dog seems like a great pet for scientists and roboticists, but every other department has a unique pet (except cargo?). I propose to make the pet for science not another dog (he's technically a robot but... c'mon.), but instead a monkey! Monkeys are much more vital to Science. How would we feed our voracious slimes to create golems and living metal crates? How would we know the effects of injecting straight Krokodil or wearing a shock pack? What other creature could be injected with dangerous viruses? Monkeys fuel our curiosity and bring us joy. The name of this mascot is still up in the air, though I'm fond of Abraham (I don't know why but there's something hilarious and bizarre about a monkey in a diaper named Abraham). He would also start in the RD's office like how all the other pets start in a head's office. P.S. Does Cargo have a pet? Medical has Runtime, Security has Sergeant Araneus, Engineering has Poly, Service has PunPun(?), Command has Ian (or is he the Cargo pet?). I've seen a lizard in the QM's office many times, so if that's not already the pet, it could become one. P.P.S. I know PunPun already exists but Ian and E-N are the same thing. PunPun and Abraham wouldn't be much different, other than I believe a monkey is better for Science.
  5. u r hawt. Eli has nice tail. SPEZZ has purdy face. IPC hardsuits and EVA with big boxy heads please!
  6. Even more than that. And it takes fewer resources to upgrade a few machines than it does to build new ones.
  7. https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/issues/3201 Some chem machines that exist as part of the map in Science and Chemistry are unupgradeable - but only some. There are four sets of a chemical heater, a chem dispenser, and a chem master at round start; the chemical heater can be upgraded while the other two can't. Any scientist can build the exact same machines from scratch and fit those built machines with better parts, allowing them to make more chems (this is the reason I thought it was a bug). Since it's not a bug, I propose that these default pre-existing machines are replaced with the assembled and upgradeable ones. CODING DIFFICULTY: Minor. I don't know coding, but I can't imagine this is more than a tiny map edit. Eight existing machines are deleted and replaced with assembled/upgradeable machines.
  8. IPCs clip through their hardsuits texture-wise.
  9. Title. This isn't a high priority issue, but it's something that bugs me (and I assume others). I tend to work R&D, and as such I enjoy having a toolbelt full of tools. When research is maxed, I give myself an Experimental Welder since they're so good. My issue is that I have a toolbelt full of every tool except the E-Welder, since it's too big and has to go in my backpack. Again, minor issue, but it becomes annoying to have to go into my backpack for one tool and my toolbelt for all the others. I propose to make the E-Welder fit in a normal toolbelt, or if that's a little to powerful, to make it fit in a Bluespace Toolbelt (it doesn't, I've tried).
  10. With the recent Unathi aesthetic update, I got to thinking about how IPCs can also have some additional customization. Initially, I only wanted some trimming or accenting (example at end). Some spitballing in the minichat has given me some additional ideas, which are antennas, display color (this could be a problem with precolored displays like RGB), and monitor shape (this could also be a challenge)(fuck that). Obviously this isn't a majorly necessary change, but I'm sure many players would appreciate additional customization options. I don't know any coding or sprite work, so I'm not sure how complicated this would be, but I'm sure it can be done. If anyone has additional ideas, please comment with them. If this goes through, maybe other species will have aesthetic reworkings done (non-green Dionas, anyone?) Thanks for reading, I look forward to all your feedback, guys! EXAMPLE OF TRIMMING/ACCENTING
  11. Here are Mesons compared to Night Vision Mesons.Clown Cult.zip
  12. Bring back Telescience. Everyone loves it, and most of the time, the RD ends up making it anyway.
  13. This is probably too nit-picky for anyone to actually do anything, but maybe I'll convince someone. R&D has three machines (protolathe, autolathe, circuit imprinter) that can use fractions of materials. It nags at me to see that I need some gold or silver to imprint one circuit, and then end up stuck with 0.5 of that material stuck in the imprinter forever. I propose to make it so that if the three machines have Bluespace Matter Bins, they'll have a shared materials pool. Doesn't that fit the magic of Bluespace? There'd be no worry about which machine uses what, ever. I don't know anything about coding, but it could be something along the lines of "if two or more machines have only Bluespace Matter Bins and are within X tiles of each other, then they share materials". This could also allow Robotics to share materials with R&D if the range is far enough - the days of arguing over division of materials would be gone. I can see this being a processing nightmare if someone decides to upgrade all the Hydroponics trays to Bluespace. Maybe it could be hard coded that Hydroponics trays can't share materials. I don't know if anyone cares as much as I do about the fractional materials, but the sharing between R&D and Robotics could be nice. Let me know if this seems feasible, and feel free to modify the idea in any way you see fit if you think that'll make it more likely to happen. Edited some grammar
  14. Humans (and probably other species, though I don't know) can get some amazing upgrades from Genetics (strength, night vision, telepathy, invisibility, whatever), but there are also risks associated with modifying your genes. Since Genetics has high risk and high reward for upgrading your organic character, Robotics should have safer and less extreme upgrades for IPCs. As far as I remember, IPCs have optics and a battery, and I have one suggestion for each. An upgraded Optics Array would give toggle-able night vision or maybe built-in Meson scanners. An upgraded Microbattery would give higher movement speed, between 1.5x and 2x (I would say it should give more capacity, but as soon as I see that hamburger on my screen as an IPC, I move to any of the probably hundred APCs in the station. It's so hard to lose charge that having more is pointless. My rationale for move speed is having more energy, but I'll admit that's a bit of a stretch.) Let me know what you guys think about these suggestions. Even if you don't agree with exactly what I've suggested, I strongly believe IPCs should be able to receive upgrades from Robotics, and I hope others (especially my fellow Synthetics) agree.
