  1. It's time for Space Starbucks. "With our expansion, we will be able to place Starbucks next to Starbucks!" Starbucks hostile corporate takeover for new gamemode.
  2. yeah because their super healing, no breathing, not worrying about pressure and being able to come back to life as a nymph are so weak, oh and claws as well. I've literally seen a diona fight of hordes of blob zombies alone with nothing but its hands. so personally I feel that having speedy Diona may be a little crazy. (edit apparently coming back as nymphs are gone. ) Not being able to run or pursue period absolutely outweighs the benefits particularly since they have several terminal weaknesses, and what Mij said; further, I'm not saying Diona speed should be buffed, but they absolutely need more upsides.
  3. Fully custom names please; let the silliness flow.
  4. This is a rough proposal/sketch for a new MalfAI; not sure if I'll ever end up coding it, and though neat it seems like it would be painful to balance, but I thought I'd float the concept and get some feedback; inspired by Atlantis' take on NewMalf from Baystation. Ability Research/Upgrades: Instead of purchasing all of its abilities at the beginning, the MalfAI must research abilities that are specific to four ability trees: Subversion, Telecommunications and Networking, Power Systems, and Nanomanipulation. The AI no longer has the ability to go Delta after subverting 3 APCs; this is a Level 4 Subversion ability that must be researched. AI Point Generation: Instead of starting out with a pool of 100 points from which the AI selects abilities, it instead generates CPU power over time. Each subverted APC adds to max CPU capacity and CPU generation per second. Each subverted AI and AI core (the MalfAI core counts as one) count as 5-10x APCs for this purpose. CPU power is expended to use the MalfAI's abilities; some Malf abilities also require an expenditure of power from nearby APCs, which is referred to as their APC cost. Further, some abilities will only work in areas with a subverted APC. While CPU stores are at maximum capacity, any excess CPU generation will automatically go towards ability research. The MalfAI may utilize stored CPU power to accelerate research progress on a 1 : 1 ratio. It can also set the ratio at which CPU power generated is stored, or applied directly to research. Once an ability is researched, it can be used. The more abilities you have in one tree above both a minimum amount, and a % of your total abilities, the more proficient you are at that tree, and the less proficient you are at others. Greater proficiency in a tree means reduced CPU/APU costs to use and research its abilities and vice versa for lower proficiency. This allows you to choose between specialization, being a balanced generalist or something in-between. Subversion: Hacking and gaining control of station systems, circuits, electronics and synthetic intelligences. Networking and Communications: Manipulation and control of communications, data transfers and networks. Power Systems: Manipulation and control of power routing/transmission, storage and generation systems. Nanomanipulation: Manipulation and control over ; typically used to upgrade, build or fortify.
  5. Diona race needs something; the super shit move speed is a massive liability that's nowhere near compensated by its benefits.
  6. Instastun does pretty much mean win in the vast majority of cases assuming a competent user, and you're not outnumbered (unless flashbangs are involved). Obviously if anti-stun chems are too accessible, their accessibility should be reduced.
  7. Flashbangs can normally be cooked so there's no opportunity to run from them; this + massive AoE instastun is why they're easily one of the most powerful validhunt items in the game.
  8. Haha, not sure whether that's sarcasm (because they theoretically wouldn't be encouraged if borgs were bad) or you're actually agreeing with me (borging should be decent because people are pressured to get borgified). I have to say though, I've never seen crew encouraged to get borged by anyone other than the AI for obvious reasons, though occasionally an antag will try to pitch it to his murder victim for a stealth valid.
  9. There's lots of stuff that's antag exclusive and complete bullshit, like say emags in their current implementation. TBH though I'd be willing to acquiesce on this point to Sec veterans who have more first hand experience with antag instastuns.
  10. Is it about tazers exclusively? I was referring to most forms of winbutton haha u ded and I winrar instastun bullshit. That's not to say there isn't any form of instastun that's warranted, but I hate the concept as a rule.
  11. Meanwhile Vulpincanines... I'd be willing to give this a look over; no promises though, I literally just started coding.
  12. Power outages are generally local, not stationwide when they happen, and sec already has ion rifles, flashes, and the Robotics Control console to deal with rogue borgs pretty much effortlessly. Not to mention most borgs can't even deal with desks, tables, or welded doors.
  13. They're neither good or perfect, that's the problem, and that's precisely why I advocate improving borgs consistently. Again, the problem isn't that they can't do all the things humans can, and no one's asking for that; losing flexibility is one of the main costs of being a borg, it's that they're inferior to humanoids within the context of their own specialization, while also completely lacking the ability to do basic or important tasks within that specialization. Bottom line, Borgs are supposed to be specialized units that trade versatility and freedom for especial proficiency within their department of focus but they don't actually get that. Also this is the only poll thread I've ever made.
  14. One thing I'd really like to see on high security doors is not only a logger, but also a reinforced maintenance panel that either requires a valid ID to unlock, or a welding torch and a substantial amount of time; alerts would be forwarded to the Security Records console & AI when it is tampered with, or cryptoed. It's silly that these doors are every bit as easy to circumvent as any other on the station.
  15. Wait, what? No they don't. As mentioned elsewhere, nearly all the borg types can't even fully perform the functions of the department they were made to specialize at (pretty much all of them but the Janiborg), and are routinely outperformed at their job by their humanoid counterparts, while _also_ being bereft of their freedom. Hell, some of them can't even perform basic functions pertinent to their role like shaking awake, applying anesthetic, or feeding rad collectors. Having a crowbar so that depowering doesn't prevent borgs from performing their jobs in the first place has everything to do with them; again especially true of Medical and Security models (in the case of the latter, Deathsquad and Combat borg types already have access tools to pursue antags; even plasma cutters!): gaining access to patients and suspects is definitely and directly related to their primary functions. Note that I did feature a no vote that approves of adding the crowbar module to certain cyborg types if you feel it should only be granted to those that benefit more directly from it; this poll isn't first past the post, so there's no need to vote strategically.
  16. That's why I recommend limiting it to high security areas. To be fair, there are ways to circumvent it via crypto (which I assume would totally destroy the logger along with the rest of the airlock electronics), false walls, cutting both the main and back up door power, or even just pulsing it off (I think it would best be implemented as an extra circuit if at all possible).
  17. The log data definitely should probably be fed to the Security Record computers for review, which would also show the status of the loggers (whether on/off or depowered); something else for the Warden/AI to do/keep his eye on. When deactivated, door loggers should also report and timestamp both the time and cause of deactivation and send a final transmission + alert status to Sec Records (until they're updated again). These logs could of course be printed from the terminal.
  18. I can see this resulting in a lot more use of secret doors, that's for sure.
  19. Neutrality/indifference. It's good to have it as a point of reference in order to encompass as much sentiment as possible. And polls are a decent starting point for gauging sentiment, particularly as it's protected by anonymity.
  20. This would be great for high security airlocks, like those around the Vault, Upload, AI Core, Armory, Bridge, Captain's Office, Gravity Generator, Technical Storage, etc..., but not all airlocks. These airlocks could also log any actions tampering with the electronics like pulses, maintenance panel opening, and wire severing (unless the logger itself was depowered).
  21. Per the title. Easily one of the most frustrating/annoying and IMO entirely unnecessary things about playing a non-Engi borg: being stopped dead cold by any kind of depowered door. Doubly so as Security/Medical borgs.
  22. These entries need more Nar'Sie. Thinking Nar'Sie leading a horde of hooded cultists and constructs on one side with distorted black/blood red backgrounds, while the Singuloth leads Sec officers, Beepskies/ED-209s/SecBorgs on the other. Clown and mime are caught in the middle, cowering in the empty space between the advancing armies. Thus far Crom and PhantasmicDream have my fav entries.
  23. So long as there aren't any power outages, and pathing is clear, yeah, it is better at strictly cleaning things. Was thinking about giving the Janiborg a matter decompiler with its new functionality and the Janitor a handheld version; turn all that crap the station is typically buried under into useful materials!
