you arrive at NCS cyberiad...and there is a fukken plasma fire in arrivals and only way to avoid that is ic in ooc. so naturally you die and miss out on the game.

how to fix? arrivals station! late joiners spawn there and can check on cameras that are only in arrivals to see if its safe to arrive on the station.

we can also use this to reduce greytide shittiness, players need to enter the secret code written in the rules in order to use the shuttle to get to cyberiad. obviously we need a huge sprite telling them to read the rules.

another edit: while we are at it add a mirror there so there are less bald people

edit: this also makes sure there are no SSD bald people sitting around in arrivals.

moar edit: add a secret door to a tucked away toilet area/thing that should be in a airport to be able to skip the code entering

Thats sounds good, I would be happy to try and map it, but it would need to have enough on it for people to be able to play on it. Maybe have a safe area where people spawn and go to the station from, and then have a little station (that functions) with no external access to keep people who don't read the rules interested (and maybe a deathmatch arena).

lets narrow down what is in the arrivals station: lounge w/ vending machines and camera access, toilets, a shuttle, really wide hallway that can fit in the sprites on how to read the rules and finally the place where everyone starts the game.

thats it

also its on a different Z level not a another server

I'd be all for the arrivals station, but against it requiring a code. Let's be honest, I don't think many of the new arrivals to the server would read the rules thoroughly enough to notice the code, even the ones that don't greytide.

If they decide not to read the rules even when told so, they can stay in the baldie pen for eternity.

Personally think this is not a great idea.

People going SSD at arrivals are much easier to move to cryodorms than ones on this proposed remote station.

Moreover, this would be a bottleneck for joiners to be picked off by new griefers since sec can't intervene easily, anyone hit into critical would be unable to be recovered, and few people would check the cameras or know to input the code leading to them simply leaving or dying to the plasma fire this is intended to protect against.

TL;DR: slows things down unnecessarily and makes it more difficult to handle SSD and griefers who just joined through IC methods

Now, maybe this is too much, but what if sec and medical had a one way teleporter that never decalibrates to the arrivals outpost, and there was a brig physicians sortof room there, along with a few cryo beds, and a sec checkpoint with a brig cell? We could always do something with that construction zone next to the engi outpost...

One option is to just create say, ten pods, and spawn people in the pods. The pods just have a computer that launches them in response to the code.

Have people despawn if they're inside the pods for more then a minute.

No SSD. No spawn camping. No bottleneck.

And for people that accidentally close out/ internet crashes/ game crashes/ bugs out in that minute?

I like the pods part though.

'Oops'.

also make the computer include a camera monitor for the area the pod will end up in.

it would be better aesthetically to have a ''arrivals cabin'' that is under/over the arrivals shuttle ICly/RPly.

maybe add minor gear there like a emergency supply locker if they see a threat in the cams and need the helping hand.

i read the rules.

anyway. the awaystation would be pointless. if the station is on fir, infested with aliens or a ascended shadowling is bloodbathed you can't join either. you just wait at the secondary station and wait, and wait and wait.
