  1. as a quick note, if you do go with a button, you might consider making it log the preference to the server logs, could be used as a good indicator of who uses it (if possible)

  2. I'll add an aside to Fox's post- Mentors are just players there to help out with IC mechanics and game related questions on the side, so they just get the ability to see question PM's and look for new players via the account age button. We have moderators, which are basically senior mentors- they can do a bit of investigating with aghost and msay, and pass it on to a trialmin or higher, people that actually have the experience and power to handle rule-based situations.

  3.

First off- Helmets, masks, gloves, shoes, and radios all require overlays to apply to the monkies, which we do not have- that's around 200 new sprites or so.

Secondly - Fair game monkies is.. just not a good idea in any way, IMO.

  4.

Hm. I don't think this is a good idea, really, it adds a bit.. too much depth to surgeries and the such, if you ask me

another problem is, if I remember right, this was a major overhaul on bay, and isn't really feasible to port.

  5. I believe there is a way to make the jumpsuits start off at max, but, I believe it is a bad idea to remove the no-sensors option, simply because it means that anyone that wants the protection bonuses of security jumpsuits is fucked if someone tries to track them.

  6.

I know that cyborgs can open lockers via the hack-y method of hitting their tools against it, but, it seems kinda pointless to not have three lines of code allowing them to just interact with lockers normally. Any thoughts on this?

Edit: To clarify, this would only allow them to use attack_hand- no locking lockers, just being able to open and close them like normal

  7. Something just occured to me which I think is a good point to bring up: Goon-Chemistry is still in-progress of being ported on TG, last I checked. It might be a better idea to save the idea of porting it all until the actual port is complete, tested, and any big bugs worked out.

Just checked, current version of Para does not have limited range telepathy, nevermind.

    But as a response to

being weak to water is not a meaningful gameplay mechanic (let alone one that has an impact)

How is this /not/ a impactful gameplay mechanic? Just go to any of the many many water tanks around the station which are in public places, fill up a glass/syringe/eyedropper/beaker, splash it on a grey, laugh as they die quickly.

Also, I think it wouldn't be as bad as it was, in terms of snowflake code, if it is implemented as a new flag like NO_BLOOD, so that it could be used by other species easily in the future

  9.

The primary request of this is, quite simply, is to re-add the Water = Acid feature for the 'Grey' race.

It was removed via pull-request #192, and self-merged during the same day it was posted. Not trying to say anything about this, just feel that it is relevant.

However, it should not be as much of a snowflakey code as it was before, instead of a specific if(species=='grey') check, add a new flag to species defined as 'WATERISACID', and implement it based on if the person's species has the flag.

First off, I will start with this: We are not Baystation 12. A borg coming to ask for a cell upgrade at round start does not classify as part of our metagaming rules. Metagaming is not universal, every server has it's own definition and ideas about what classifies as metagaming and what does not. That decision is made by our administration staff such as MarkvA. Even if you attempt to claim the lore defense, obviously a cyborg would be able to tell the difference by the maximum reported charge of the power-cell.

In response to your second paragraph: It is all semantics of lore, but in the end it is up to the player to decide on that, but it isn't "Pure Metagame". The borg can see his power level, his max power level and his power drain. His advanced supercomputer can calculate the approximate time the powercell will last for him, and his advanced sensors can see better powercells on the nearby table, or is able to deduce that the fabricator can easily make better quality powercells for it to use. It's laws tell him to serve the station and crew in an efficient way, requesting the installation of a better powercell is not only allowed, but advised.

As for your screenshot, you are arguing about what the rules state with staff, and in the end, the rules are enforced and interpreted by the staff.

Then the hate training begins with this admin starting to be abusive towards me. Stating such like "And sure as heel not a reason for you to troll him.", "I think that's for me to decide, not you" <- Pure biased.
MarkvA is correct. You shouldn't be quickly replacing the borg's cell just to screw with him, and it is up to the admins to decide what is metagaming and what is not.

I do not see MarkvA losing his temper at any point during your conversation nor being unprofessional. You continued to argue with him against access to private admin notes against yourself which are for admins, not for the players they are placed upon. It could have been phrased better, certainly, but you entirely ignored his point that players do not get to view their own notes. You then went on to mock his words and state "Need me to make an admin complaint for being unprofessional?" which is, no matter how you put it, being used as a direct threat.

To your question: It breaks rule 7, Self antagging. Constantly removing and replacing a power cell from a borg is obviously just being done to annoy the borg and disable it, which a roboticist would not do unless the borg was obviously rogue. I suspect MarkvA started stating things more simply as it was clear that you were either ignoring or not understanding his point.

  11. There is a difference between 'silly' and 'this is absolutely ridiculous.'. Clown shenanigans are silly. Banana peels slipping people are silly. Absolutely ridiculous things (read: drones, comic sans clown language) almost always just grate directly against your vision. Absolutely ridiculous things tend to lower the over-all RP quality due to just being ridiculous and random and pointless and insane, which encourages the crew to also be ridiculous, random, pointless, and insane. IMO, anyways.

Why give the mean HOS a cute little bunny?

Why not give him a large Bengal tiger?

*cough* totally not obsessed with tigers *cough*

... but I do actually like the little bunny, is cute, name it Jason.
