  1. I wouldn't mind if they didn't have tasers but tasers are too OP for antag security.
  2. Brig cells should ask for a records update when someone is put in it and record who actually set the cell timer.
  3. SOP is IC enforceable only. No one is required to follow it, but if you don't follow it command staff and the IAA will get on your case about it potentially firing you and confiscating all your equipment or whatever else they decide.
  4. Bread helmet: tape plus loaves of bread; weak helmet Meteor hammer: Mini-meteor, metal rod, 30 cable, welding tool; Ball on a chain, attack is a short range projectile similar to taser but does brute damage Nunchucks: 10 wood, cable cuffs, kitchen knife; has a 5% chance to deflect projectile if its in your hand, holding two would give you a 10% chance. Chainmail coat: 20 empty soda cans, 15 cable, 1 leather jacket; gives basic armor to upper body, slows movement speed. Paper airplane: Paper, tape, table; Can be thrown full screen, will cause temporary blindness if it hits your eyes similar to a laser pointer. Prison shank: Made from any plastic utensil when used on a reinforced wall; Starts at 1 damage, gains 1 damage for using it on the wall again, takes 2 minutes for each sharpening up to Prison Shank +9. 5% chance to break when used leaving a shard stuck in the target. Bindle(hobo's bag on a stick): Made from a blanket and 5 wood (alternatively a backpack and metal rod); Carried in the hand, works like a bag but made to carry in your hand. Does extra damage on harm intent if full. Foot snare: Cable, cable cuffs, wirecutters; Catches someones foot when set and walked on, causes slowed movement until it is removed with resist, short removal time. Like a much worse bear trap.
  5. There is also doing the reverse of this, instead of nerfing tasers, what if other weapons did more damage? The way I see it if tasers are unbalanced you can either nerf them, remove them, or buff other short range weapons which is basically any melee harm weapon. Increase the damage with spears, glass, knives, toolboxes (or give blunt weapons greater bone breaking but m not sure thats possible) and possibly add more makeshift and melee weapons. What about other medium range weapon possibilities? They would be a bit farther out there but chinese meteor hammers, flails, and others could use a short range projectile code like the taser to do damage, it just won't have the pull back animation. Also medium range makeshift bolas would be cool that could have a real short stun, or medium range boomerangs which could return if thrown short range or lost if thrown far. Yo-yos could be a greytide crappy weapon they use to annoy each other and perhaps traitor yo-yo with spikes? Or a Garrote disguised as a yo-yo. A weighted yo-yo with a chance to knockout or stun with a head shot. Really tasers are in a league of their own. Its pretty bad when you see nuke ops using tasers to stun then shoot people over just shooting people straight. Or where fights completely revolve around disarming whoever has the taser and using it yourself. I think removing the electrode and using only disabler would be interesting because it allows a few moments for someone to retaliate even if it only causes superficial damage.
  6. The detective really should be excluded from antag even if security in general isn't. Usually its only one person and they are the only person that can take fingerprints and fiber samples and such.
  7. While I agree it has its problems, if it got more people to play security I think it would be good. It might also make security more vulnerable to IAA and their superiors in doing their job right. One thing that would ideally happen is whenever a security officer just runs up to people and tasers and cuffs someone without word or warning, other people try to question and maybe even stop the officer until he explains. Antag security would be a juicy target for validhunters. It would make sending out wanted notices and such more important so officers don't get mobbed by greytide for stun and cuff on sight. People not announced wanted would hopefully be approached more calmly and if they run everyone knows that the security guy isn't being an ass. In the past I mentioned a change that could also make antag officers a more realistic change, make setting cell timers record who set the timer and give a spot to say what charges the person inside were given for that time. Those records could automatically be applied to someones security record. It gives IAA a bit of bone to build a report on instead of he claims X, she claims Y, no physical evidence, im not even sure who set the timer. With more meaty IAA the bad officers get fired more, the good officers don't get bothered, antag security is more likely to be questioned or fired for illegal arrests and beatings and such, more people play security for that antag.
  8. A point system would be nice if there was a generous amount of points. But its still not going to help much if it becomes a simple job restriction or unlock. There would need to be additional benefits or disabilities for having only a few points or a lot of points in something. And that would take a significant amount of coding spread through nearly every job.
  9. Tripping in the dark is a decent suggestion but I hope breaking bones is a much smaller chance than that. However, you could also make walking in the dark safe while running can make you trip.
  10. I believe so unless something has changed. It needs to be at least stage 2 to work though and hit the core of it alive and its 50:50 whether it works.
  11. It would be cool if throwing the Mime into the Tesla ball had a 50% chance to kill it, much like throwing a clown into the singularity.
  12. I think something that would really help is a comprehensive and printable security record report on any person with ease. Whenever a cell is closed on someone it should require a name and list of crimes they broke along with the security member's ID card used to close the cell. It should also have room for custom comments or evidence on that same cell monitor. Either through putting in a paper note or form or inputting it manually in a text box. Even a simple 5 words someone can input under evidence would help tremendously. The detective could also attach his own evidence to this. On a full security report it should have all the general security data in addition to the cell data and detective evidence together for review. Then, if there is a disputed case for the IAA to take up they have a full security report to start with and can easily find who to talk to and what they need to talk about. The IAA could then use his interviews and the security report together to make his own report to send either to whoever they like be it HoS, Warden, Captain, or CC themselves. Right there is a comprehensive and hopefully clear and complete actionable piece of paperwork. A security officer who properly fills out the arrest record with what evidence they have along with whatever evidence anyone else may have put on the case would have absolutely nothing to worry about and would have minimal interference from IAA and others. An officer who doesn't doesn't fill it out properly, which is not what we want, would have to give much better word testimony when the IAA or others come asking questions about complaints. It would encourage proper arrest reports but not disqualify someone for having bad arrest reports. This would also alleviate the biggest hurdle of being an IAA which is actually obtaining the information you need for starting a case and also in getting the full story from both sides. Finding everyone that is involved so you can make a fair report. When you only can obtain one side of the story the job becomes nigh impossible to provide resolution for.
  13. Limiting job knowledge is something I don't want to see and I think would create more problems than it fixes. Yes in some scenarios it could prompt more RP and such but unless you have a fully stuffed crew of people in all positions all the time it becomes extremely clumsy and frustrating for players. It would also turn the low-pop rounds into no-pop rounds because no one wants to play if there isn't enough doctors or there isn't enough engineers or whatever other vital job and they can't take over as needed. There is an argument to be given for limiting specific metaknowledge to help RP and reduce valids however I think the most and best changes are going to come down to space law changes and possibly some controversial antag knowledge limits. I think the future planned space law changes that can allow antags to only serve minor charges for some minor crimes and civilians being able to occasionally find minor traitor items will be the best change we can hope for.
  14. Thats a big reason why I don't understand the ID lock for RnD console. Scientists already had immense power over every other department and in responce they prevent other people, even people with emags, from stealing shit from science? They still have shutters and the machine is locked! No one can even use or build the RnD boards in tech storage because its ID locked anyways which is stupid as shit. Engineers don't even get ore machine access, another things scientists get anything they want. RnD position is overpowered with command status on top of full chemistry, xenobio, bombs, every tech on the station, genetics powers. The solution is to break up science, not just limit one person within science though. RnD can stay civilian if science is fixed because he doesn't have much more power than a general scientist overall anyways.
  15. I like this idea. It was also allow some more improvised weapons to be made with the fuel, much like welding fuel, but perhaps different effects? It would also limit the amount of destruction with the amount of fuel created which in turn is based on the amount of trash produced. It could possibly also be made with chemistry but require a fairly complex and expensive recipe to limit its use.
  16. I have to agree, especially with engineering and atmosia. Unless someone empties all the plasma cans from science into different areas of the station (which would get you banned anyways so it doesn't happen), you don't even need to touch atmosia ever. The tesla is easy-mode engine and I am supremely disappointed in it. Even if you wanted to mess with atmosia, it requires extreme disassembly of the whole thing to make room for any projects and you still have to deal with underfloor room pipes that are pressurized with general distro. We got a bunch of EZ more low-rp features that keep being added, meanwhile people keep getting way more extreme with rules and regulations which conveniently only the ahelp complainers and security players ever are able to use to their advantage. Your pretty much always guilty of a crime and if anyone is a shithead to you then you need to either join the ahelp-everything bitches or just accept their abuse because even the smallest retaliation will just get you in trouble. Most rounds these days I complete avoid other players because either they rule nazis or they are just there to valid for anything and everything. You can't RP when even the slightest hinting at possible antag goals will get them to attack you with complete disregard for their own life or any possible RP. The people that would RP with a possible antag are usually put off due to the threat of ahelp nonsense unless its a metabuddy friend. The way rules are being enforced seems to have erased the line between meta-knowledge and IC knowledge. People use metaknowledge far more extensively IC than they should. They either go crazy valids on them, or otherwise go complete metabuddy and completely ignore obvious traitor activities. Convincing someone to help you explore space and in the process steal jetpacks from EVA to do it is a believable and clever way to get a steal jetpack objective with non-antag help. Doing the same thing but using an emag and showing off your e-sword or pistol by shooting security on your escape is not believable and the non-antag helper should no longer be their buddy for that very fact.
  17. I would like this. Especially if you could put a timer on the trackign band that expires and falls off after the time runs out. It can keep people out of the brig for minor crimes and gives people like the Warden or Magistrate more options to deal with those low level crimes, especially when busy. They can offer parol and a tracking band for say 15 minutes instead of dealing with a 5 minute prisoner who causes as much problems as possible.
  18. The biggest problem with bees is people trying to enter botany to either attempt to kill the bees or arrest the botanist. Just the other week I got a 1 week botany jobban because the HoS forced their way into botany, knowing full well I had 5 apiaries full of bees, got stung to shit while shooting me with lethals, then ran out into the hall releasing the majority of the bees into the hallway, then complained to admins until I got in trouble because he died from all the chems in his body reacting. Before then I had multiple attempts by people to break into botany and I had repaired the windows multiple times. Bees are perfectly fine as long as the botanist isn't purposefully leaving the door open. 95% of the time bees escape because other people open botany against the botanist's wishes and leave the door open. Plus bees are pretty damn easy to kill, but people are dumb and try to run away from them. Botany could use some more room to accommodate bees and plants while allowing some extra doors to be built. The way some people act with bees is the same as if I busted my way into xenobiology and broke open the pens and tried to beat a slime to death with a crowbar, quite simply it's lunacy.
  19. While it is a cool idea, I don't think it really has a purpose with LINDA, on ZAS it could have been a life saver while leaving atmos problems still dangerous enough. With LINDA, you can run through a half destroyed room one that is spewing plasma from the vents already with almost no problems. This would only gimps any atmos problems even more than they already are. If you die from the current atmosia system you probably were already doing something very dumb. I wanted this in the past but LINDA has killed any and all demand for anything of the sort, it essentially killed any atmos fun. I still think it is the worst change the server ever has and ever will implement.
  20. Did you do it on a local server? It is far faster when you don''t have to wait for your lag to register each individual click and report back. Otherwise you miss your pin numbers and have to restart.
  21. I like safes and the difficulty isn't a huge problem, but only if there is a payout at the end. Unless they are fixed they shouldn't exist. The one in the vault is fine, it has stuff in it (A fireaxe or something I believe?).
  22. On mining you can find a floor safe, I found one in a plasma wall room. I then spent the next hour opening it through some lag which is really damn anooying. Of course, when I opened it after all that effort, EMPTY! Its a big FUCK YOU to the players to spend so much effort to open a floorsafe in an artifact room only to find it completely empty. Why put the most secure possible safe only to have it empty?
  23. I would support this, however ive never had anything other than my highest priority jobs get picked. If I put high on anything I ALWAYS get that job. I currently have a number of things on medium and no high selections, I have never gotten a low priority job though. So along with the new priorities, I would suggest we get a reworked and slightly more random job selection. I shouldn't get the same job every single time with the max amount of other people in the same role, meanwhile another role with the same or lower priority remains unfulfilled. On one of my characters I have engineer and atmosian both at the same priority. half the time I get engineer with 4 others, but not atmosians. other times I get atmosian with other people, but zero engineers.
  24. You guys are overlooking some very simple middle ground. Make medical scanners reveal who's brain it is, provided that person has a medical record on the computers. It can give a reason to mess with medical records and delete targets, it makes it so security can't meta without carrying around medical scanners, it gives some leeway so antags might possibly get revived or borged.
  25. 'ahelp it' is a terrible way to solve a pure IC problem and only causes more problems with game flow interruptions. It means there is something wrong with IC interactions, law, or rules. Ahelp shouldn't be the solution to ANY problem that comes about due to legit IC actions. Admins got better things to due than sort through a bunch of shit over something that could be solved through very simple and minor changes or notes added to space law. I think anyone would rather not have problems in the first place on both sides of the situation rather than deal with possibly resurrecting the dead and further problems from everyone not privy to the ooc conversation. If closing a loophole requires an ahelp, it means there is still a loophole.
