  1. I'm personally fine with how the rules work in regards to naming.

I do not want to play on the kind of server that has memes like dwayne the rock johnson running around shouting catchphrases.

If that's the kind of server you wish for then I advise playing on a server like that - we have no intention of changing our rules to match those.

    Complaint can be considered resolved.

  2. Hi there, and thank you for this feedback/complaint.

I have spoken to @TheSardele who has the one who spawned the creature - in this case, a blobbernaut with vent crawl, more health and a reskin. His reasoning was to give something security to do on an extended round, akin to terror spiders or a slaughter demon, but much less dangerous. The monster was then given to ghosts to control like other random event characters.

I'm personally satisfied with this as being acceptable, as SS13 is a game where random death like this can occur, and it should be expected that a giant bunny may be a deadly adversary. Death is part of the game, and dying on the way to medbay barely takes one out of it for long. Sardele has read the feedback and we've discussed the extent of minievents like this and their effect on players.

As far as your note and warning for your incorrect execution and insulting players roughly 5 months ago goes - I have no idea what this at all has to do with the situation or why it was at all brought up. It's rather bizarre it was brought up here at all. How this is unjust or related at all to the event is completely beyond me.

  3. TheSardele was not playing the head of security. That was another player, not even an admin.

You clearly have some trouble containing your emotions. I advise calming down, because you're barking up completely the wrong tree here. Having your friend post how TheSardele sucks in another complaint is not doing much for the perception of your maturity either.

Complaint is without merit and resolved.

  4. While we try to take all admin complaints seriously, this is so inane that I won't even bother.

Further posts of this caliber will result in a forum ban. If you have an actual complaint I suggest you try writing like an adult.

  5. Hi there,

Booger - especially as a green slime person - comes across as quite juvenile and puerile to me. Bodily excretions are generally bad for names.

When I talked to Normaly about it, he was actually unaware of what it meant (English is his 3rd? 4th? language). I actually had to fill him in as to the meaning (Awkard conversation believe me). I had to search some old logs about said incident, and the only relation is thats when Normaly was told what it meant.

In the end I'd have to rule the name is just that bit too childish and gross to really come up to the standards we want.

  6. Hi there, apologies for the long delay here.

Lando Calrissian appears to me to just be way too famous (Especially with the Mandalorian and the non-canon solo movie) to pass, and I'd have to argue is far from a not well remembered character.

Your taste in character is fantastic, but Lando is just way too badass to be non-memorable to me. I'd advise rather than trying to play Lando Calrissian, use him as inspiration rather than just playing another character. Lando as a name is fine for instance (And an awesome name imo), but both that and Calrissian just pop out as a name from arguably the most famous sci-fi franchise ever.

  7. Hi there,

While the specific "zoop zoop bro" was collectively said twice, it's the bunch of other strange nonsense you were told to stop. This is really the crux of it - if an admin tells you to stop doing something, you stop immediately. Not get in a few more "bro's" and other nonsense.

As far as communication on these kind of things go, discord doesn't actually allow us to show ban reasons and has issues with messaging people via our bot who aren't in the server, but any admin can look up ban reasons - especially easy if you've already messaged them before as well, so always feel free to just ask whoever is around for it. In my case, don't bother to wait for me to show online I never remember to set that.

  8. Hi there,

I'm not really seeing any misconduct here. Your behavior - especially as a sec officer - is quite awful, and frankly far too immature for us. To frame this as being banned " goofing off with friends" and " banned for enjoying myself with my friends" is quite dishonest. Both of those things are quite allowed. The issue here is not that you were goofing off or enjoying yourself with friends, but how you were doing so.

In this case, the actual substance of the goofing off is outside the maturity and role play standards generally accepted here. This is something you've been warned about and banned for in the past. This really isn't normal SS13 behavior, especially by MRP standards, and not the kind of thing we like to encourage. While it's absolutely true that this is how some people carry on, we don't appreciate it, especially from roles like security. The sheer quantity of this kind of "goofing off" is quite disruptive to the general atmosphere of RP.

When PM'd by Abydos, you had the opportunity to review your activity and tone it down, but instead you doubled down. When an admin is telling you that your actions are out of line (especially when it's the kind of thing you were banned for previously), doubling down and arguing it's acceptable is generally a bad idea. I don't see any misconduct here at all, and this complaint reads more like an appeal - albeit one that doesn't acknowledge any wrongdoing.

I very much have to agree with Abydos here that this isn't the kind of behavior we want to see from our playerbase. I don't see any misconduct here on Aby's part.

Complaint is thus without merit and resolved.

  9. Apologies for the delay here, I looked into it and totally then forgot to actually finish my  reply to it.

Ancestary.com lists numerous people with it as a last name however once I get off the AU version - https://www.ancestry.com.au/search/categories/img_passlists/?name=_Shifty&_phsrc=bMT28&_phstart=successSource

Although it's always a last name there I don't see an issue with it becoming a first name. It's a bit odd but not at all immersion breaking or anything like that - quite within the realms of possibility.

    Again apologies for the delays.

  10. Emergency kits are really meant for space and vacuum (hence the oxy masks). The epipen is for short term stabilization, not healing. Cable coils and welders are very much outside the realm of that, and not really the main idea of the thread. They've been brought up before and rejected.

Oil is interesting but I feel has some of the problems of being too long term. I'd much prefer perhaps another oil despenser thats not just the one in robotics or delivered from cargo. Preferably a small one, but robotics is really the only logical place. Maybe a random spawn in maint.

  11. Hi there,

First of all I'd like to point you to this part of the rules in Section 7:

    Murder is not acceptable for non-antags. Killing should only be done in extreme self-defense, during an authorized execution, or in any situation Security can employ lethal force. If you wish to murder, or at least seriously injure, someone, Administrator permission is required;

In this case, I do not see any crimes which were execution worthy, nor any authorized executions.

The destruction of a borg and a charge of sabotage requires malicious actions - in this case, it was not malicious, as it was assumed you were rogue, because you were randomly stunning people. Context is appropriate to all space law charges - it is not grand trespass to enter the AI core to stop a rogue AI, for instance. It is not sabotage to disable a rogue borg that is attacking security, either. It is quite appropriate for the sec officer not to be charged with sabotage because you attacked him. Even if he was meant to be charged with sabotage, I would personally consider it very, very evil, to beat someone to death with a baton because they weren't being given 10 to 15 minutes in the brig.

The Paladin lawset does not make you an antag, and is considered a default lawset as it has been a starting one for many years, and is often used, alongside robocop, when the AI is needed to be proactive with security enforcement.

A Paladin would not give people the death penalty outside space law. Even if borgs are "slaves", that has been established by multiple legitimate authorities. Beating to death one sec officer will not free the borgs. One should attempt change within the law. Paladins are meant to be Lawful Good.

You are being much more than overzealous here - zealous would perhaps be acceptable, but overly so, not. Claiming security was harming innocent borgs when you were yourself far from innocent is a huge stretch. That being worthy of execution (Via I assume, being beaten to death with a baton), is well outside the laws for paladin - especially when the "victim" here is the very same borg who was destroyed.

Despite security destroying a borg, claiming all of security and the captain (And also thus, NT and CC), as illegitimate, because you were destroyed in self defence, is a huge stretch. Claiming there is no legitimate authority really does seem to be rules lawyering to antagonize crew, specifically the one who destroyed you.

Common sense is required both for borg laws and the server rules. Randomly stunning people to 'increase productivity' is clearly not going to work - common sense should tell you that. It's basically just being an asshole to players. Because borgs cannot be brigged, or even stunned or cuffed, there is no real option but to destroy you if you're considered rogue.

Common sense should tell you that if you hit a sec officer with a stun baton, they're going to think you're rogue before they consider you're trying to increase productivity - especially because the latter makes no sense. This very much seems a case of using your lawset to justify antagonizing crewmembers. If a security officer was to run around hitting people with a stun baton to "increase productivity", they'd be quickly brigged and or fired.

I do not think you were really trying to RP your laws here at all - it comes across as you looking for excuses within your lawsets to get back at the player who destroyed you. You've both used corporate as an excuse to randomly stun people, and then when you suffered the consequences of that, used Paladin as an excuse to beat someone to death.

If your appeal was accepted, then it would be sending a message saying that your actions as a borg there were in line with server rules and what we want from the play of borgs and players in general. They most certainly are not. Until an appeal shows that you see some problem with your actions, it won't be accepted.

Complaint can thus be considered resolved.

As a rather "new" player, what were the issues in the past?

Before it was fixed, the logs wouldn't properly show who was in control, and finding the right person was hell. Messaging the borer/host mind was really difficult...

Before the community really got used to them, there was a mentality of using them to cause as much damage as possible - to the crew and the host body.

Honestly this is very rare these days, but I just have bad memories that bias me.

  13. Admin's version of events:

    As described.

    Admin's reasoning for actions:

The fact this is against the rules is not in dispute, but the harshness of banning "without warning". Sollessa here asks "How could I have known better?".

As a mentor, one should be expected to know the rules and know better than to insult people in OOC channels, let alone staff. Someone with a half dozen warnings in their notes should know better. Any decent, mature, human being, should know better than to insult others - especially over something like this.

There is plenty of precedent for this being unacceptable. I've warned people and banned people,  many, many times, in OOC, deadchat, etc, and told everyone not to insult others.

Being part of this community a long time means someone should be well aware of that. Warnings are generally given to people who may not know something is against the rules, specifically newer players. One is not entitled to be warned. It is up to admin discretion as to whether or not a ban or warning is to be given.

In this case, I decided to apply a ban immediately, because I was incredibly disappointed that a long standing player and a mentor, would personally insult server staff, publicly to other players - especially when that staff member isn't even present.

This kind of immature and toxic attitude is utterly unwelcome here. The harassment Fox has received for years and years - both OOCly and now ICly too - has me incredibly disappointed in many members of this community. If anyone thinks it's acceptable to personally insult someone over coding changes in a video game, they are not welcome here. If they are unable to control their emotions over this 2d spess farting simulator, I don't think warnings will help - they are simply lacking in maturity, and need time to grow up, and realise there are consequences for their actions.

Acknowledgement of wrongdoing or disputing of:

No wrongdoing at all. This is something we've been lenient on for far too long, allowing for such a toxic attitude to ferment and people to play the victim when they are punished for it.

Probably the strongest position its ever been in my memory.

Absolutely...except maybe for when spores werecontagious and you ended up with 10 blobs.

    Reflectives are a huuuge buff.

Mechs should remain powerful imo - they are very hard to pump out early in blob and xeno rounds. Midround antags getting mech stomped im fine with - its gives a good reason for the crew to have them. Midrounds are a good opportunity to use them well and be rewarded for building them. If a midround gets stomped thats fine imo.

Terrors and xenos can also quite easily avoid direct combat with them. A direct fight against a giant armoured mech covered in guns should be a bad idea.

    2. I am unsure if this rework would be a priority or even necessary when/if the SM engine update gets finally added. The tesla would likely be an alternative and not the main engine.

Absolutely not priority, can't say about necessary for the sm stuff but overall:

I like a lot of the theory here, but in the end it comes down to the issue of:

TBH the station should use more power, or there should be a point to generating more power (techwebs cough cough), but that's beside the point).

the fact that there's really no point to having it up too high or anything, when a main engine isn't even really needed to power the station at all.

However the general idea of being able to turn an engine up to "dangerous" levels that can only be sustained with constant monitoring I really like.

  16. It's not so easy to just replace it with something special - you have to come up with an idea and then enable whatever is needed to spawn it, all the while looking for the everpresent greytide etc, and hoping it isn't a nukeops round or something that'll end too soon. It's a lot of effort for just one round.

If coded in it means a long lasting change to multiple rounds.

  17. Some of the oldmins, myself included, may also be a bit biased due to seeing some very awful borers over the years....not to mention a time the logging fucked up with them that was hell on us mins.

Not to say this is a good reason to be against them, just to put our bias on the table as we've seen how bad they can go.

I'd personally like to see them as more dangerous so people don't want a brain controlling parasite in their head.
