  1. I enjoy rev too, perhaps it could have similar to a "Level 5 biohazard detected on station" a "Intercepted Intelligence / Martial Law" announcement once revs get X amount of people (or maybe that's a horrible idea).

nothing in the lethal force section of space law says you can kill someone based on their bodycount, as you stated in the post above. space law very specificly defines the few situations in which it is acceptable to use lethal force in the field

if 'context is important' for cases outside of that, then it's entirely at the whim of whichever admin is to hand; that's an unacceptable level of subjectivity.

Given the provided situation, we can presume that they are a powered Vampire. We can also presume that said Vampire is evading non-lethal ways for them to be taken into custody and are dangerous to approach, such as:

    • Misting away while the officers deploy their tasers
    • Screeching, downing the officers
    • Glaring the officers
    • Possessing Security weaponry and using it against the officers

As far as administrator bias, there are particular admins who play antag roles regularly and seem to go out of their way to hinder security players. For example, a vampire murderbones several officers in maint, security respond and eventually kill said vampire in a kill-or-be-killed situation, the administrators in question will spend a pointless amount of time grilling the officers for this.

If a vampire is on a murderspree and has killed multiple officers and is still on the run, I can 100% guarantee you that security is justified to use lethal force and they won't get "grilled".

The double standard here in regards to escalation is an unfair one, most antag types can get away with killing security members just for being security members with weak reasoning, where as a security officer killing these antags in an engagement runs the risk of a swift ban unless they can convince the sometimes bias admin they were justified.

Security should be making an effort to follow Space Law. We're also not fond of antagonists going on a murder spree of Security for no reason.  We may ask some questions to get an understanding of what happened. Just because we are asking questions doesn't mean someone is in trouble. I'll play out an example PM conversation:

Admin: "Hey why did you kill that guy?"
Security: "He is a Vampire and murdered several security officers this shift"

It can be as simple as that.

I don't think anyone has been biased when dealing with stuff like this. If you think an admin is being biased I encourage you to make an admin complaint.

It's a big misconception that security is chastised by admins over the smallest things, in reality that is not the case. We are very lenient with Security unless someone is grossly just ignoring Space Law (i.e. permabrigging everyone, ignoring the HoS who told them they can't do X since it's against Space Law but continue to do X) With that being said, if someone has prior notes and warnings about poor security behaviour, and they continue with poor security behaviour then it may be time for a jobban.

Unless you can provide specific examples, then please stop airing this misconception around.

  4. Usually people are willing to help you learn if you speak up and ask for help. Everyone's had to start somewhere.

In regards to "tutors", we have mentors which are essentially that. You can hit F1 and select "mentorhelp" and ask questions
