  1. The Synthetic Union aims at diplomacy between IPC and other races, and highly discourages anything even remotely like this. If anything like this were to happen, it would be an extremist wave split off from the union. Maybe call it something like that? Synthetic Radicalists?

That, or if you were to call it the Union and make this an event, just make it... non-canon or something for the sake of an amusing event. If the Union were to send out waves of IPC to attack 'organics', that just kinda strikes me as not working with lore.

I forgot to upload this until now. A good few shifts ago, I started making this hell at escape on a green alert end-of-shift shuttle call, and a few people, including the CE, saw and started helping out, which led to me being able to make it as big as it was in time. It was fun.

  3. This AI of ours... it would seem that we'd best listen to their voice of reason. Nobody else recalls a thing of one another, no?

Let us keep the safety of one another in mind. There is no need for rash action. After all, we are innocent until proven... guilty.

I will stand back per this election; I do not wish to lead amongst you. My wish is to keep those of you whose alignments align with mine safe.

  4. I can understand the consequences of allowing OOC: IC in OOC, spilling meta, arguing, etc, and why we'd want to prevent an abundance of it. However, using discord, LOOC and deadchat presents its own problems:

Discord is only available on a second window: either a second monitor, a phone, alt-tabbing, some way that makes you look away from the game.

Deadchat requires you to be dead or observing or ghosting. Out of the game, somehow.

LOOC is probably the best alternative: a nice use for oft-brief, person-to-person OOC chats, but all-in-all, it doesn't tend to emulate the community atmosphere we get from getting to talk all together in OOC when we get an interesting topic going, or just briefly (and if people aren't interested, the option to mute OOC has always been there). A lot of people aren't going to want to wait around in deadchat or divert their attention from the game just for discord, when they want to talk with the community whilst playing. There are spates of abuse, but I feel like the positivity the OOC channel provides, especially for newer players trying to get a feel of the community, outweighs that.

Not to mention, concerning newer players, I've found that having somewhere to say 'hi, I'm new, please be nice' and have a few people greet you tends to get a person chilled out and have them feel more at home, even if it's just to have someone direct them to mentorhelp for a question.

Well, anyway, I'm sure a week's test will see how well it works out for us! Let's all have fun as usual. ヾ(^∇^)

Edit: After a few days/rounds of the test change going through, I find myself not missing OOC as much as I thought I would. In fact, I do feel a lot more immersed into the game, and I've been using LOOC to communicate with the players around me as necessary.

As a rare user of mid-game OOC, I'll leave proper discussion to the people who use it more actively, and I'm still concerned as to how it'll affect newer players who just want a casual place to say hi and don't want the 'officiality' of joining discord or waiting for the rush of pre-game to do so, but so far, it's been surprisingly pleasant for me as a player who knows their way around other avenues.

  5. It seems to be an idea that most IPC follow, but many of them interpret it individually, so indeed, it may not be one specific thing. So to speak, when it comes to synthetics, 'there is a little bit of Synthetica in all of us', and to many, she manifests differently according to their personal beliefs and experiences. Sort of like how it's said if there's a heaven, then everyone who sees it will see their own personal heaven?

The only character of mine who has interacted would be D.I.T.T.Y, who prayed to Synthetica once, and sees her as some sort of vague synthetic goddess, perhaps lines and lines of code more advanced than any civilisation could produce on its own, existing in her own, impenetrable space somewhere both nowhere and everywhere. Something vague and foreboding and beautiful like that.
