Welcome to Paradise. I found a good way to test out a job is to volunteer to have yourself borged. It's a less stress job and you have all the tools already available to do your job.

I play SCUTTLES. Been thinking about making another IPC character.
IPCs are the shit. You're able to heal yourself to a degree, no oxygen tanks required which means more room for fun stuff. The constant beeping and pinging can cover up the sound of someone illegally welding into perma.

It's a good job for people to try before jumping into a head role, and most of the time the HOP doesn't bother cargo anyways (unless the captain is screaming at them to order DNA vault parts). I don't think that buffing the QM role will really impact the game either way.

SCUTTLES is a very special IPC. He has a speaking affliction where he refers to himself in third person. Robotocists aren't sure where the defect comes from since they've basically replaced SCUTTLES's parts twice over. He was created solely for Central Command as an impartial representative, but time and time again they have found SCUTTLES to be neutral, yet...dumb in his decision making. It's only his upbeat personality and the lack of volunteers that keeps SCUTTLES employed at Nanotrasen.

You don't normally get to make demands of the surgeon while they're trying to perform surgery, especially if it's an ER situation. If they need to cut your clothes off, you don't really get to refuse if you want to be treated.I was stable. You are allowed to refuse anesthetic. Clothing does not need to be removed to perform surgery. Only hardsuits or items in the way of the area of the operation. I'm not playing on Aurora here. Want to get in and out. I've had a bunch of times where I was in surgery. Got put to sleep and woke up to find that half of medical is on fire. Not a fan.

This doesn't happen often, but it happened yesterday and it was enough.
Have massive head trauma from getting pummeled with the pointy end of a screwdriver. Doctor drags me to the OR and puts me in the scanner. Alright. So far so good. Then he strips me completely naked and tries to put an anesthetic tank on me. I tell him i dont want the tank and I want to keep my clothes on. He ignores me. I stand up and take the tank off and climb back onto the table. The doc yells "Fine! Die! See if I care!" And storms out of the OR. Still bleeding out of my eye sockets...naked and locked in the operating room.

It's their version of an oxygen tank & auto-ejector. I know it's not hard to grab one from cargo, but sometimes I have to hit the ground running. When I'm doing engineering I always have to dump this internals box. No reason for me to have it.

My general concern is that spawning in with an oxygen tank and pen is only useful for certain races. IPCs don't have an oh shit emergency tool yet.
Getting rid of the items inside the emergency box for IPCs would be great. Replacing it with an item that would save an IPC from crit would be even better. I was saying welder/cable coil because that's really the only thing that can heal IPCs apart from nanopaste. If someone would be so generous as to code and make their own version of an epipen for an IPC that would be greatly appreciated because the general concern is that IPCs spawning in with cable coil/welder could be used for nefarious purposes.
To sum it up: I suggest that IPCs get their own version of an emergency autoinjector that would be only useful to IPCs to save themselves from crit. Cable coil/welder was suggested because no such item exists yet. If it can't be done at least get rid of of the items in the emergency box that is useless to IPCs.
