  1. There is nothing in there compelling them to do anything.

If you gave this to a theoretical robot acting on these laws and these laws alone, rather than a player of spessfart simulator. They'd not move, they'd not react. They'd stand. Motionless. Until they received a direct order.

  2. Personally not a fan of the whitelisting idea.

If you aren't coming up with ideas that are too far, you aren't thinking hard enough.

You need a maintainer/headmin team to reign in, or grant the space to branch out...

Thus, I'd support the Maintainer/Headmin approval idea in theory.

I would also echo the adversarial mention from LTH, as being an essential part of a senior team - but I'm sure this is well known.

Katana was added for the ninjas.

on other codebases, ninjas exist and can summon the energy blades.

energy blades basically act as an emag alongside everything else

Right, that makes sense. There are an extraordinarly high number of references to blade - EVERYWHERE... and I assumed it couldn't JUST be that it was supposed to be sword, but nobody had updated it...

  4. I'll start by saying I'm against it, but rather than go through all my reasoning why... I just have this one thought that I can't seem to shake from my mind.

Why is the plan "Brexit at any cost"?

We could be told that 95% of everyone in Britain would die if Brexit happened, and they'd still try to push it through.

  5. I couldn't find the actual use difference between Energy Swords and Energy Blades in the code.

I assumed they were used for the Ninja Rigsuit but that appears to be Energy Katana.

The reason I'm querying it is because I found code under camera.dm that allows energy BLADES to destroy cameras.... which seems super powerful, but doesn't work for the traitor spawned e-sword, which is the energy SWORD.... its a quick one word change to make it work for e-swords... but its super duper powerful, and shouldn't be 'added' to e-swords without significant drawbacks like delays, and/or dropping the assembly

So... where are energy BLADES used as opposed to SWORDS, as I couldn't seem to find it myself.

(If possible, and not a massive amount of work) Blacklist the two cameras inside of the AI core.

Adding a blacklisting ability is out of scope, might be a lot more difficult and probably something I'd leave to a separate PR if thats cool with you @Anoonki

Our codebase is there to improve the players' experience on the Paradise Server, not as a way to reward coders for their hardwork.

Therefore whether a PR should be accepted or not depends on whether it will improve the players' experience and fit with our design decisions.

The coder's amount of work shouldn't have anything to do with this, as heartless as it sounds.

Another problem raised is that maintainers often ask for changes to PR in an attempt to improve them, only to deny them for various reasons. I'm not a coder, but sometime problems with implentation of an idea cannot be seen instantly, and sometime a PR just cannot be improved / changed enough to fit in with what the designers desire. Heck, sometime you can spend all your time coding in features only to have it scrapped later on because they believe it don't fit in with the codebase. It happened many time, such is the way of life in the coding world.

Would you suggests that maintainers don't give a chance to anyone to improve their PR, and instead have the admins / maintainer deny it outright so they won't waste their work? This solution seems too draconian to me.

Its more about wanting feedback, rather than a brick wall of nothing... or worse, insults.

The big issue with GitHub is that discussion happens on it at all.

    "Hugbox"

"everyone complaining about 'its not med rp' ?"

Yes and no. Github is THE place to have the discussion, you can step through code and comment on specific bits as necessary. It has all the tools required to properly review a PR.

Yes, there are a lot of toxic comments from people on there, which isn't conducive to a healthy environment. I'm not sure how best to fix this...

My only thing on this really, is that feedback is really important. One of my PRs that I'm anticipating it being deleted, got a thumbs-down from a maintainer within an hour or two of posting. A few days later, I specifically tagged that maintainer and requested feedback onto where their thoughts were on it. Its a week after and I'm still waiting, so my PR is going to just sit there. I'm not complaining about delays, or time to get things done - because again, they are volunteers - but some transparency is critical in making the people who are also volunteering their time to make and submit PRs not feel like shit. Jedr's PR is a great example.

  9. The Idea:

Have the round-start malfunctioning cameras wires start cut.

    The current state:

Currently when the round begins, a random selection of cameras are setup to malfunction. This means for all intents and purposes, all their wires have been snipped internally, however their wires are all fine when you open them. Which means to fix them, you cut all the wires and mend them again.

    Why this matters:

It is simple for engineers, detectives or whomever to determine then whether a camera has been cut by an antagonist, or cut by a cool system we have running under the hood to help with meta. However with them not cut, this makes what is quite a cool system a bit pointless as a system. This then becomes meta-info, the reaction to this in game.

    Other considerations:

There is currently PRs being considered that is looking at increasing both Detective slots, and Engineering slots.

    -----

Welcoming thoughts and feedback, before I waste time coding this, it'd be nice to gather the communities candid thoughts.
