    GO, ENGINEERING, GO!

RUN, MY PRETTIES! SERVICE WILL FINISH LAST, JUST LIKE ALWAYS!

    NYEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH!

SEND IN THE FUCKING CLOWNS, WE MUST NOT LET TULLY WIN THIS!!

    AATTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCKK!!!!

Where DO you get duct tape actually? Cause I'm liking this.

I think Cargo probably has a few rolls laying around the disposals room. I think there's one in the dorms on the Needlessly Large Table. Primary tool storage has at least one I think. They're alll around, just usually ignored since they serve little practical purpose. Though it's worth testing that, since you can use them to put tape on pieces of paper to stick them to walls and windows and such, if you can photocopy your ass and use it to cover the walls.

Still though, they're around. I think it's just labeled as "tape roll" or something like that. Looks like duct tape.

Oh, if it's easily accessible, I can see this being put to good use. +1!

  3.

Fine, whatever, no fun allowed, whaatever.

Nevermind I guess. Since something as harmless as a fucking pet isn't allowed I don't think I'll suggest any more fun things since it's just gonna get shot down for some fucking idiotic reason.

Jesus. People have proposed these things for years now, and the response is basically always the same; the pets are a novelty item for heads of staff.

    ... Well, yeah, but... They're....

You're all watering down the "pet" thing, it should be a heads only thing (+ pun pun) so that it keeps its charm.

    Plus E-N for robotics.

    Plus the chefs goat.

Plus Diona Nymphs (though since they're useful they may not qualify).

Plus whoever wants Lisa from cargo.

    ... Still really.... Not.

And yeah, I agree that NTSAM is REALLY not handling this situation properly, but a lot of people agree with the QM getting a pet.

If we're going off DEPARTMENTS, cargo has nothing while science has about 2, command has 2, etc.

Think of them as department mascots; I feel like cargonia deserves one.

  4.

    Vote service.

(Also service is generally vague as fuck cause some HoP's just straight up forget about them.)

Yeah, but generally, that's because the HoP doesn't need to worry about them. They're self-sufficient, and don't need constant maintenance.

But what if that's just the case because no ones doing their job properly?!?! Vote service 2560!

[spoiler2]I'm happy with either, vote for what you want. I'm just bias for service since I'm starting with service for a video series I'm doing and I wanna include a section where I talk about the jobs SoP[/spoiler2]

  6.

Wait, do MedHUD implants also allow you to change Med Records?

Yep! Sort of; they allow you to remotely change the Medical STATUS of a person (Active, Deceased, etc.). I'm not sure if Med Records can change as well, but they probably can.

However, your ID might still need to have access to medical records in order to access this feature. So, if say, a Scientist printed out an NV medhud, he wouldn't be able to mess with medical records with it, but a doctor can.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but hey, I wanna test it now.

The needed amount of votes should be high at all or many people will only be earning one karma every 1.5 years.

...It just occurred to me that this is might actually end up slowing DOWN the karma system.

If I'm reading this right, this means that a person can only get ONE karma per round. As opposed to a possible 2 or 3 or 5 if you were exceptionally impressive.

Unless I'm misinterpreting this? Cause around this point, I'm not sure what's being accomplished here.

  8.

Remove the negative karma system all together and see where it ends up.

One reason that people seem to forget, but I always appreciate. Controversial characters (A prime example would be Clinton the Racist). Although they don't generally end up being likable by everyone in the round, they make rounds more INTERESTING when pulled off correctly, while at the same time not truly ruining anyone elses experience. It's rare enough to see successful and genuinely good, for lack of a better word, "Legal Self-Antags", and adding a punishment system of ANY kind will run them dry.

There are of course, several other reasons why a negative karma system would be terrible, but that REALLY isn't the point of this thread. I feel like this post will get MUCH more credibility if there wasn't a system for taking away karma that they EARNED because of someone elses opinion of them. Fuck, I know that I PERSONALLY would never trust myself with that kind of power.

I don't really like a lot of music, it's hard to find anything that doesn't just sound like noise to me.

Also damn, that's surprisingly good stuff right there.

  10.

I guess we could have a friendly competition on making em. Im sure we will have different ways how we "teach" newcomers so if in long term view, we could teach em alot together. Cannot wait to see what you have to offer. ;)

    Teaching Intensifies

Honestly, I just plan on recording one of my several characters doing a round and me talking over it, and they'll range anywhere between 30 minutes to a full 2 hours (I'll cut any idle parts). We'll probably end up making very different videos.

Brilliant idea all round, I highly encourage this. 1-5 might be a better break up of difficulties for things, and perhaps suggested previous jobs? (eg, cargo before qm, engi before atmos, etc).

Yeah, I was thinking about that after I made the post and went to sleep. Scale of 1-5'll work better, I'll make the change once I get home.

    HoS:

    Learning: Medium

    Performing: Hard

    Mastering: Hard

Ooooh shit right, I gotta do HoS. Rip.

  11.

So, I'm starting up on my next big project; video guides for new players as opposed to written guides! Will they be good? No idea! Here's my test recording in the meantime.

When I finish up my Humber music auditions and a bunch of school work, I'm going to start doing a video per job in an attempt to teach them to new players(with the exception of misc jobs such as librarians). For the videos, I want to make some sort of ranking system for job difficulty so that new players know what they're getting into.

Of course, I'm lazy. So, I want to know everyone's opinions on the available jobs, specifically their difficulty to learn, their difficulty to do, and their difficulty to master. Something to that effect is already on the wiki, but I feel like it's inaccurate (Geneticist is NOT harder than Medical Doctor for crying out loud.)

For example, for Atmosia, I would personally say that it's hard to learn due to new players reluctance to want to mess with piping. Most new Atmos players don't want to touch ANYTHING because they fear destroying the station. Meanwhile, it's easy to actually do Atmos decently once you understand what does what. It is, however, difficult to master, due to AtmosTechs constantly attempting to get the MAXIMUM pipe efficiency.

    Thus,

    AtmosTechs:

    Learning: Hard

    Performing: Easy

    Mastering: Hard

Now let's try to get that for every job. I'll compile a list of jobs later on tomorrow.

I see what you did there with his name. Very clever.

Fun fact; I created Dorian without ANY fucking knowledge of the Dorian Gray book.

The reason I named him is literally just because I'm a musician, and the Dorian scale is my favorite scale to play.

For like, a month, people have been commenting how clever I was and I had NO fucking idea.

...In other news, I finally updated him to reflect his recent changes! Also, I added Lithos to the end of his character sheet.

Praxis normally either sells drugs to Greytides, hangs out with Jacob and occasionally Von, or goes out with Harmon. He also has a crap ton of pets in his apartment, including a Crow, a green corgi named Antihol, a Killer Tomato named Frank, and a blob that ate his bedroom (but it also pays rent, and it's not like Praxis sleeps anyhow).

Dorian has a bunch of pet projects he works on back on his ship, and he's often interrogated by his comrades back on his home ship about Human behaviour (though he finds the Vox and Diona more interesting).

VALKYR has no reason for off time and generally spends it shut down.

  14.

I've so far imagined that the majority of humans have move to Mars and live in a futurama type setting, the moon is for the 1% wealthy, and earth has like, one or two pockets that are nice while the rest of it is filled with people that are too poor to leave or REALLY fucking religious and anti space travel/genetic modifications/anti-alien. Read more about it in my new story I'm writing called the Temsi- *Shot*

I would normally like to help write shit, but I am... DECENTLY bad at writing stuff about setting and history.

    The Temsik Project

    Project Leader: Keaton Temsik

    Duration: November 1st, 2554 [spoiler2]to November 1st, 2555[/spoiler2] [spoiler2]to July 4th, 2556[/spoiler2] to Unknown

    Status: Discontinued/Canceled

Purpose: Discover and experiment with the several new Structural Enzyme sub-blocks, attempt to find useful new powers. The ultimate goal is to develop powers that will allow the human body to survive Earth's current atmosphere. As a side project, similar tests will occur on various plant life.

History: For several years, Genetics Research in the galaxy has been stalled due to the inability to find new sub-blocks. At the time, only 14 blocks were exploitable, and though their powers were incredibly useful, with Telekinesis, Hulk, Cold Resistance, and X-ray commonly implemented by military personnel, they came with crippling disabilities such as Epilepsy, Tourette's, Blindness, and Deafness. In addition to this, long term exposure and use of these powers caused irreversible side effects to the user after about 2 hours, often leading to death.

However, around the year 2550, a human scientist on Earth named Keaton Temsik theorized the existence of 41 more sub-blocks within human DNA, which could bring the total number of available sub-blocks to 55. With the help of his best friend, an Engineer by the name of Marcus D’Angelo, they managed to develop plans for a machine that could pulse radiation deeper into the body's natural tissue. The project was funded in 2551 by The Milky Way Federation, being merged with one of Prof. Temsik’s earlier plans to do similar genetic experiments with plant genes. Plans for a new research base surfaced later that year and the construction of the facility concluded in 2553.

The base was located in the ruins of what used to be Cairo, Egypt; isolated from the rest of society due to the heavy amount of protesters against human modifications. A team of 10 moved into the base on November 1st, 2554 to begin experimentation.

    Personnel:

    Keaton Temsik: Research Director

Vincent Calavera: Milky Way Federation Representative

    Marcus D'Angelo: Chief Engineer

    Chelsea Pearson: Assistant Engineer

    Yomiel Macy: Geneticist

    Jonathan Nguyen: Geneticist

    Praxis Chailer: Geneticist/Medical

    Richard Jowd: Xenobiologist

    Ingus Wright: Xenobiologist/Medical

    Sissel Swan: Cook/Janitor/Maintenance

Results: The station was caught in an explosion at 01:14, July 7th, 2557. The source of the explosion appears to have been a bomb placed in the engine room of the station. The bodies of Mr. Temsik, Mr. Macy, and Ms. Pearson were unaccounted for. The rest of the crew was declared dead, either from bleeding out from the initial explosion or due to suffocation. The exception to this was Mr. Chailer, who managed to turn on his internals. He was found in a crate in storage, unconscious.

All bodies were cloned with the exception of Mr. Calavera’s and Mr. Wright’s, due to the severity of their brain damage. Due to having been injected with powers and being unable to remove them, Praxis suffered severe radiation side effects. Over the next 6 months these side effects were slowly corrected, though his violet hair and eyes were unable to be reversed for an inexplicable reason.

All of the research was missing from the databanks, apparently having being stolen. In addition, all saved crew members have absolutely no memory about the events that transpired. We have finally managed to collect the diary logs of the crew members (Specifically, those for Keaton Temsik and Yomiel Macy), and they will be posted here when we find them.

The group responsible for the attack will hopefully be discovered soon.

    First Entry

    Author: Keaton Temsik

    Date: 22:59, November 2nd, 2554

The webcam turns on with a flicker. Staring into the screen is an old man who’s face looks like a canyon, with crevices and ridges running up and down his wrinkled face. His hands are rubbing up and down his face as he hoarsely groans into the microphone.

He sits in a claustrophobic looking, windowless bedroom. The bed behind him (The Milky Way Federation still remained strictly against Cryopods for some reason, preferring that their inhabitants kept to beds) had it’s sheets balled up into a bunch. The desk he was standing at was completely empty.

Down the hall, an obnoxiously loud electric guitar was squealing with dissonance while a couple of voices argued passionately about whether ‘Djent’ was still considered a musical genre. With every additional squeal from the guitar, Mr. Temsik physically flinched or twitched.

His sunken blue eyes stared into the camera in a pitiful manner.

“One month… This will...only be… one month.” The hoarse voice croaked.

The noise came to a grinding halt as a loud, commanding voice filled the air. Mr. Calavera. Mr. Temsik stifled a grin before the camera returned to static once more.

    Authors Notes:

[spoiler2]Heeeello, Ping here. I've wanted to write this up for a while, but I've been putting it off due to a lack of spare time. Since my account here has just turned 100 days old, I figured that now was probably the time to start writing. I am not by ANY means a good writer, but you will probably see an increase in quality as the journal continues to be written.

I have no REAL planned timeline or plot for this; I have an ending and I know what situations I'll be putting the crew in, but besides that I'll be ad-libbing everything I write. I AM currently taking a writers craft course, and it's possible that I'll submit this piece of work for my final project; time will tell.

Anyhow, I hope that you guys enjoy, and I hope that I somehow find the motivation to make regular entries. Feedback is always appreciated.[/spoiler2]

    Cargo Technicians are not permitted to utilize Emitters to break open crates. The same applies to the Quartermaster;

How about "are not permitted to break open locked crates" period? Don't lasers, eguns, and kinetic accelerators bust open crates too?

Yeah, honestly, my first reaction to reading that wasn't

"Oh, right, I better not break open crates like that."

    It was more like

"Oh shit, you can break open crates with emitters?! Sweet!"

  17.

Disposals isn't addressed at all in this.

I'd imagine that there would be two extra notes concerning them for CT's, something along the lines of...

-CT's are not to keep (any/illegal/department specific?) items that go through disposals, and must report to the QM or HoP (edit: or HoS or Captain) if (illegal/department specific) items are found.

-CT's are to report dead bodies to security immediately (May merge with the first point; I know it's a common occurrence for this to happen but it shouldn't be SO regular that it has to be addressed in the SoP.)
