  3. My only objection to this is those rooms are filled with enough gas to run most station processes. (Around 50-80k kpa at any given time) If a griffon wanted to fuck the station in this manner he would bolt doors open and break the wall down. At the current moment the outside tanks not being connected is quite a good thing meaning he cant simultaneously break multiple thousands worth of kpa and fill atmos through the maintenance area with it. I have never filled a room with that much gas and I am not sure it would be a good thing to do. With that said gold line in distribution could come up really easily or you could put pipe caps on tank outs and have a single distribution line leading from the nitrogen oxygen mixer area almost as an alternate route for nitrogen78-80/oxy 22-20 out of the station. This means that antags technically can still do their job by un pipe capping holding tanks and sending them through the main line but make it less easy for girffers to go DIRECT PUMP BY REPLACING LIKE 2 PIPES

Hey guys lovely and fantastic suggestions and responses from everyone! @Earth I felt that typing up a big fancy reply for this is not really necessary because giving argument solves nothing so here is what I propose as a solution. Under the purview of rule 9. the starting statement of this law states: Character names can both help or break immersion. also to redirect to line 7: Plain silly names (Stu Pid, Captain Bonzo-Fart the Eighth) are really only acceptable for the clown, mime and/or wizards. It could be argued and I see a legitimate stance here that if real life names (from line one), silly names are barred thus leaving in question the idea that comical character reference names such as (fox mccloud,man bat, groot) could all be banned. Now I am not arguing any more but propose a solution. Under line 2-3 of rule nine: As such, names of famous people IRL (Barack Obama, John Travolta), names of body parts or puns referencing them (Hughe Jass, Pee Ness), highly offensive names (Fuk U), place a colon statement attached to this sentence : Movie, Game, Television, etc based references are still allowed as viable name refrences (I.E. Master Chief, Son Goku Bat Man) Simply add that in as a clause statement and it is over. It is a law that is undisputed by the creator with a simple amendment then there is no confusion, fuss, or even write. If it is SAID in the rules from day 1. @Dumbdumn5 I am so glad you love the idea. I could see it having issues yes but I do propose a small bit of a solution for this! Okay I am unsure if you have it but an equivalency to a logging system or admin notes for player complaints in game then you could keep a tally. See you guys are SUPER busy and I understand spam, questions etc are all a very big pertinent part of volunteering. Now with that said say that you have a player named "Dick But" reported for his name. You write that down under player notes/admin notes for said player and keep a tab. At strike 2 of said complaint say ANOTHER player reports "Dick But" for his name then you know that there is a concerning issue. That is when a trial admin would step into that case and get a record of conversation and ask the player to change/ or auto be changed. Now I know it is not the most speedy of solutions but utilizing player feelings about things is a good way to go about handling problem players. If you used the front banner as a notice board of reminding people of the rules in big pretty letters or recommendations of : if you see rule breaking report it. then I feel you would get a lot more player feedback from player complaint. I'll be the first to admit it I forget about player complaint sometimes. I have a bad player and I am more focused on the game so a little reminder in big bold letters saying: If you see anything suspicious report it etc: then I think I would readily remember to report suspicious and bad players! Anyways if there is anything I can do to help you guys out just give me a shout. I want to solve problems and help people get results that benefit all parties and i think adding in a clause rule to 9 as well as handling players on case by case basis would be a good foot forward.
  6. Hello everyone, I wanted to bring up a small point and case in defense of Mr. Payne here. I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary of forums posting and game playing on July 21st. (wohoo!) Now with that said in a large portion of that time has my characters (Echo, Sploosh) have met Mr. Payne in game. To my knowledge and understanding Mr. Payne , over the entire period the character has been created and known, has never once used his name in a derogatory way. He is a good example and trend setter for new and old alike! He is respectful, calm, and above all else acts like an adult, not once making a phallic ailment or distasteful feeling in his unmentionables as jokes. He gets on, does his job, has fun. I thought that was what was wanted? Now you may know this man better than I as I have only had about half a year, and the countless encounters as Echo and Sploosh with him. But I would like to give some information because no problem can be resolved without actions. Now I know you guys don't all have a common background so I will give you a little help: Etymology is the study of word changing throughout history and luckily for you! Etymonline is a website devoted to retracing any word origin you could think of! Now let us take a few really common names: This is exact quotations from etymonline: "peter Slang for "penis" is attested from 1902, probably from identity of first syllable. Now excuse me for the pun but if you banned every tom,dick, and harry from the server for using the name Peter or Johnson BOY would the list be big. My thing is that people are reaching REAL hard for something to dismiss here because the word dick is a commonly used reference to a male sexual body part. So If my name is Cave Johnson. or Peter Parker would I illicit the same response? No I would be called for having a portal 2 reference name, and of course be called spider man. What I am saying is I feel that what breaks immersion here is the people who play a character that is so unoriginal and takes from things so much that it ruins the experience. I hate to have to use this but to quote Dumbdumn5 exactly : "Since people keep bringing up Bulma and Fox, I don't believe they make an excessive amount of either Dragonball or Starfox [reference] to any extent aside from their name." I don't mind the station having wildly kooky and crazy characters but having blatant rips from another series is just such bad role play form. It would be the equivalency of going and seeing an avengers movie and behold! Arachnid Man, and his name is Parker Peter! His powers are he sprays uhhh I mean shoots web and his suit colors are red and white instead of red and black/blue. He emulates spider man even though there are slight difference we still know exactly what he is doing. Now to address rule nine I feel that it should be a case by case basis to see how far the character has devolved. The paradise server has trial mods, have them observe these characters and report in any unbiased actions or negativity they are doing to hinder the rules or even their character. This makes it easier on the normal admins to address the issue, stay relevant, and only handle the players that need it. I know it is not a hard implementation other than going: "Dean, Dumn, whoever, when you die can you ghost this person and see if their character breaks too much immersion?" and if you think they are biased send another mod to do it on another round! Anyways good luck Dick hope you get your name to stay.

  9. coding as I would see would be kinda odd since carp are not truly a held object. I see this as a very easy fix by using a system of recipes by implementing 3 items and under module with crafting on table 1. being a wall based mount made out of wood. 2. a harvestable item via whatever mob your wall mount was made of. 3. intermediate item holder for the building process unless you want to have 2 items being slapped together for the creation and return of a new item. alpha - have it listed under as a recipe bravo - listed as a build able item via the auto lathe. some 0.1 code sequence I played around with via modules and table_recipe for this. { /datum/table_recipe/WallCarp // Reference for recipe Carp Wall Mount name = "Carp_Wall_Mount" result = /obj/item/weapon/CarpWall = 1, reqs = list(/obj/item/weapon/Wall_mount = 1, // Wall mountable crafted from pre-requisite wood. /obj/item/weapon/Carp_Head = 1, // Harvestable via dead carp sprite? /obj/item/stack/cable_coil = 1, ) // Replaced with what ever tertiary item could take place of mounting material. time = 120 } (secondary notes please indent the obj of carp_head and cable_coil to match proper placement inline with /obj/item/weapon/Wall_mount = 1,. Forgive me for it is shoddy code since I am still in the infantile stages of dm programming but there are a few more things needed to be added like the code for pulling the harvest item and of course mounting the thing using directional like chang's sign and the barber pole, weapon datum, etc but I feel a crafting based recipe would be SUPER easy for this. code tree would be : Find value data items via prerequisite systems (wood wall mount, and carp) Assembly of item via wall mount crafting ( run checks to match weapon and values match) Implemented system via posters system or directional fixing (i.e. barber pole chang's sign with /obj/item/weapon/screwdriver) anyways let me know how this turns out. I am +1 for building my log cabin in space.
  10. It is where you send those really dick prisoners who just can't stop fucking with things OR it is a prisoner you REALLY REAAAALY hate. I've sent two people there in my entire time on station. 1. was a psychopath who had a rocketlauncher. 2. was a clown with no arms or legs who managed to implode the bridge and kill 3/4ths command. Both were quite satisfying. anyways I would like to see the damn thing removed. It is a awful hell hole of a place and could be used for something even cooler like a offsite perma instead of the precarious carp infested tower the normal perma is. Like nothing says fuck your round for being a shitty player or a shitty antag like being locked in a box a million miles away from the station with nothing to do other than look at a tshirt with a corgi on it.
  11. I just miss having a sm already constructed. Like I know it is all the rage now to go and construct a sm and bring in the thing via cargo but I feel if that is the case why not just bring back an area for it and allow people to build it however they feel. Better yet add back the rust engine and let us pick between the newer electrical engine(still have not tested) (sm engine) and (rust engine)
  12. I am in favor if code would be implemented either a more complex/updated version of super matter. In my day, running the sm was a matter of pride as a ce. Sure you can run the singularity but there is nothing like running both and watching grey tide vaporize their arms off when they touch doors by hotwirirng sm, and sing directly to the grid. boy was that the good ole'days. tldr; I would like to see the sing and sm as stock engines and the rust engine completely cargo buyable with replacement pieces of the other incase of emergency. I feel that running 3 engines at once plus wiring the solars is the ultimate challenge to any ce worth his salt.

I am 100% okay with this Monkeyfist101. if you don't mind I am going to work on a proof of concept and add it to code if you can supply me with sprite originals in the same format as dm uses them. Not SUPER difficult to do since its merely a food module. Ill add it under a cook-able in an over or grill. (10/10) would hambaton again.

  17. Id go for this if we bring back crowbar able emergency shutters. I love pod pilot but in situations where I am one of the few sec members who can help a area that has been destroyed and is spaced, I loose a fair amount of people to the uncrowbarable mechanic. Since implementation it has forced players to break into areas causing a much larger issue with atmos content.I will take a good example of if I have to save the warden or hos from a spaced zone of the station I am going to break a window or a wall down and get to them before they die. This causes engineering to have to work a little harder just to fix holes crew have made to try and save people because shutters can't and wont open now even with brute force. With that said maintenance access should be limited barring when heads decide it is a viable alternative. The heads swiping consoles does have ability remove and allow access on it. I feel people like security,heads, engineering, janitorial, and maybe even medical need tunnel access. With that said, there needs to be a counter balance. Gloves for antags or players in general need to become prominent compared to normal circumstances. Right now, maintenance is a heavy antag tool and is quite favorable to those wishing to conceal their actions. If they have no easy way other than breaking in with a emag then there is no real benefit other than putting the crew in favorable position to catch them. You need to be able to get into maintenance tunnels as a antag and be sneaky doing it. This promotes better game skills and general robustness. If you can learn to hack a door quickly and slip into maintenance when the coppers are looking for you, it becomes a valuable tool to those capable of using it. still though +1 because I hate being alone with a clown/mime in maintenance. Those ungodly abominations should not have access.

  20. Hey there can we just get buzzsky removed all together? He is trapped as last I checked in n20 chamber near atmos. Honest to god doing work on that wall is SO FUCKING ANNOYING with him spurting out level ten infraction (damn spam bot) let alone during xeno or meteor rounds he get out. Bastard could take out the station. Also can some one look into the overpowered pingsky and his eva capabilities.Pod pilots (nor anybody else) have a prayer against that deranged flying hell spawn. Literally had a nuke op round, flew out to see the exploded ai core and catch the shit lord operative but, HERE COMES PINGSKY READY TO FUCK UP YOUR DAY. I shit you not, the thing can fly (89% sure here) indefinitely and chased me while I was on screen all the way back to departures beating me and cuffing me several times. I don't mind hes there can ya make it where they CANT FLY IN SPACE PLEASE.

Okay so there was some talk a while back about some mechanics of being re spawned as a villager on a away mission. that is a thing another would be some dank ass treasure for science to work together to get using a super new away mission. Combine the skills of xenoarch,xenobio,robotics,r&d, telesci,and toxins to make some badass dungeon style away missions. We could transport to the slime home world Vox Shoal could be a possibility. GO TO THE WIZARD FEDERATION HEADQUARTERS (PLZ YES)
