Permabrig and all its loveliness.

Permabrig, that rarely used place because everyone likes killing people for !!FUN!!.

Some people think it's boring, however now there's plenty to do, like basketball, or gardening. There are some risks, especially with Vox and Plasmapeople, but that's why we have isolation, or MAYBE execution.

In Space Law, execution is allowed for any capital crime, and usually this is exercised by Captains and Magistrates alike, needlessly removing them from the round. In the interest of preserving the !!FUN!!, even for captured criminals and antags, we should almost entirely abolish execution*, and make Permabrig or forced cyborgification the highest sentence possible.

* keep execution for anyone escaping from perma, or vox criminals.

Plasmapeople can be borged, Vox can't really because of their implant, so that's sorta the only reason execution is useful.

In addition, for those who insist that permabrig is boring af, let's add a cryo chamber of four beds to permabrig, and one bed to isolation, so that you can still observer in peace if you so desire.

If this does end up being done, it'd probably drastically improve the quality of RP in the Brig area, with Executions so rare, and it'd certainly improve quality of life of many people, who get to stay in the round and have the glimmer of hope of escape if someone so desires to help them, as well has having the normal !!fun!! inside of perma.

One additional thing the brig could use is a radiation shielded area. As much as its Security's responsibility to oversee their well-being I can understand its pretty much impossible to get everyone safely and securely out to the brig hallway. You ideally want more officers than convicts for the transfer and holding and getting multiple officers all to the permabrig in that limited time is probably just not feasible..

I like this. A radiation-shielded room within permabrig.

No.

"But why not?"

Because that's just execution. The fact you need to add a cryo chamber into permabrig kinda tells you WHY Execution is a viable and commonly requested punishment. (Fun fact: A prisoner can REQUEST Execution/Cyborging over permabrig and can be legally given one at Security's discretion. Not just with Captain/Magistrate approval.)

You die. You ghost. You get to do other things, join as a posibrain or drone or pAI or whatever. World's your oyster.

Permabrig is NOT fun long-term, gardening and basketball are fun for a while but quickly lose their luster, you're basically cut off from everyone so you can't even RP. Compared to just dying and spawning as any number of mid-round events, it's almost universally worse in EVERY regard in terms of preserving fun for a player.

If they request it, sure, give it. However, there are situations where players are GETTING RP, or are GETTING forced into execution by an overflexing Magistrate or Captain. If they'd rather die, go ahead and flex the murderboner, but if they WANT to stay in the round, why would you ever force that on them?

At no point did I say to forcefully execute them.

What I said was, no cryodorm for Permabirg, because if you choose that punishment, then you're gonna stick with it. Either you're "Ghosting", becoming a borg or you're in permabrig with a chance to be busted out or escaping or what have you.

You don't get both. (Unless you use the 'ghost' verb, but that disqualifies you for a lot of mid-round spawns.)

That, and I said Execution/Cyborging was almost universally the superior options when it comes to not locking a player out of the round, so it's not as bad as it was being made to sound.

But I still never said to force it.

A cryosleeper in permabrig has already been shot down in another suggestion, I'm pretty sure.
Yup, kind of sucks too, since, yes because, "it's basically the same executing, why do you even want to go there in the first place if you're not going to stick with it?", even though it's very likely that after 20 minutes you'll start to regret your decision if you've not got any entertainment or visits, so it'd be natural to want to head to cryo rather than stick about.

Other than that, I personally love permabrig because I used to end up in the even smaller one all the time and had a whole bunch of fun messing with sec because of the arcade machine rewards, speaking of which, add the prize counter to perma, it's not fun holding a bunch of tickets and have nothing to do with them!
