  1. If someone is calling on the radio that there's a WIZNERD IN DORMS and you're dragging some guy who was hacking the eva doors to brig, cut them loose and get to the dorms if you're equipped to handle the threat. If we know there's a wizard but he's vanished and nobody has a clue where they are, it's security's job to arrest the other criminals and you absolutely cannot fault them for doing their job just because you feel you should get a free pass into a restricted area while there's an ostensibly larger fish to fry. Do your job, sort your priorities. Security can't do shit if the threat is nebulous and not actively harming the crew, they're not clairvoyant. You're just as much of a shithead and worthy of brig for breaking into places during a severe threat to the crew as security is busting you for it with a big threat around. Now, if there's an active wizard and the crew is calling for help, and some sec dude ignores it to bring in the clown for slipping him, that's shitty security work.

    Warden tips

One thing I've repeatedly encountered playing warden is people just bypassing you and running the brig themselves. The HoS technically has the right to do it, even if it's shitty, but I've had sec officers, magistrates... I'll politely remind them that I need to be aware of what's going on to keep the brig running smoothly and chew out anyone that cells a guy with his toolbelt still on, but if they continuously ignore you and are trashing the brig and making it impossible to do your job, just go down and get reassigned, either to sec officer or to a different division, it's not worth the heartache. I've had to do it twice. Another good thing to keep in mind is you'll have downtime. Play dispatcher a little bit: Know where your units are, what calls they're on, who's alive and who's dead, and keep tabs on threats and ensure crucial messages get repeated a couple times. We had a vampire round yesterday while I was the warden and I still had security officers asking "We have vampires??" the *third time* I recapped the threat situation over the radio. Don't hesitate to megaphone the intercomm if people won't shut the fuck up for five seconds so you can do a roll call or recap a critical emergency or threat report. If your officers or yourself are using the brig timers right, the brig computer system will manage their records and arrest status for you. It's so simple to do. Yes, it's funny the first time you brig Fartlick Buttstank for Scrungle Touching, but 5 minutes later when they get released still set to arrest, the comms are going to explode into "WHY AM I WANTED" "SECURITY IS ROGUE" "WHAT IS JOHNSON JOHNSON WANTED FOR" "BEEPSKY IS ROGUE CARD THE AI" etc etc.
  4. Hi all! I'm Sonador, and I'm sure a few of you have heard I have quite a storied history in SS13. I'm a former administrator for Baystation 12, Thrice the host of the Vinesauce SS13 servers (now defunct), former administrator on Hippie Station, may Space Jesus rest its soul, and now more or less a regular here. I deeply enjoy the slower gameplay on Paradise and have already had major positive interactions with the community and administration, and look forward to seeing development continue and the community remain healthy! You can usually see me playing as my characters Mizuki Hirasawa, Alexander Privost, Mertisi Andavel, and Felis Andavel. I dabble in creative activites now and again, most of which are viewable on my personal webpage, http://beigelands.com. I've had history in other game communities, such as Garry's Mod, Counter-Strike 1.6, and many, many others. Nice to meet you all, and I look forward to seeing you on-station!
