  1. I remember a similar conversation was had the last time we were consistently at 100+ players. Back then we had Sigurd (when it was heavy rp). People who complained about the rp standards or the grey tide were told to shut up and go over to Sigurd. So I gave it a try. I found a sever population of 8 people with 6 of them being SSD. Astoundingly Sigurd was later shut down. While I agree we shouldn't try and split the community, frankly that isn't going to happen. What is going to happen is a 100+ player server, filled with unhappy players and stressed admins; and an empty server that the staff are wasting their money on.
  2. We are beginning to return to the dark times. Where the grey tide out number the admin vigils 100:1. Brothers we cannot allow this to happen! Stand with me against the horde! Support unlisting!
  3. Please explain that whole last bit. I don't understand what the hell you said.
  4. Name: Finch Pawn Commendation: Medal of Bravery Reason: Standing up to a condom HoP Actions leading to Commendation: The new head of personel took it upon himself to not transfer the old acting head of personel, but flat out fire him. When confronted about this he pulled a gun and refused to reinstate the old HoP to any position. Finch Pawn saw him brandishing the weapon and bravely stood up to him. He alerted the captain and had the HoP arrested. After which he reinstated the old HoP. Recommending Person: Raj'Rahai I, Raj'Rahai, do solemnly swear the above account is true, made in good faith, and understand that lying upon this commendation is grounds for immediate dismissal from NT and further penalties may apply.
  5. Name: Raj'Rahai Age: 45 Gender: Male Race: Tajaran Blood Type: A+ General Occupational Role(s): Barman Biography: Subject born on Adhomai, on the Etari peninsula. He became a pirate, looting and plundering slaver ships, and rescuing the slaves. Many would opt to be a part of his clan. When the uprising on Adhomai started, his ship looted draft ships from both sides. This lead to him being exiled from his homeworld once the rebellion was complete. He was cryogenically frozen, for transport off world; however, due to a record keeping error he was frozen for thirty years longer than intended. However the mistake was spotted (decades too late) and he was released to a nearby spaceport. At some point he purchased a space cruiser and operated as a space pirate. He continued his work on a galactic level, but chose to return to his home world, often in secret, and attack the labor camps some of the megacorporations had set up. However not every raid was successful. One in particular, a Northern Adhomai Mining Camp 7-D, was a tremendous failure. It led to the subject sustaining numerous bullet wounds, and a security crack down on the camps inhabitants. His intersteller crusades have garnered him quite the diverse crew. They are from all races and creeds. But they have one thing in common. They all consider themselves Rahai, and they all serve aboard the P.M.V. Rahai. However a recent attack on a slaver frigate bound from Earth to Luna has gotten him in some hot water. The frigate had disguised as a simple cruise liner, and convinced the authorities the prisoners were in fact guests. A warrant for Raj's arrest was issued, and he was forced to go into hiding. He turned over captaincy of his ship to his first Lieutenant, Kaz. He now seeks refuge aboard the N.G.S. Cyberiad. He is to be denied for [OVERRIDE] He is useful to us. 6. 2 took all the base building out, made units far weaker and less varied, and made you focus on heroes the entire campaign. I hated juggling all the hero abilities and such... I played Tyranids to beat it as they only had 1 hero. I fucking hate having to deal with making heroes in Warcraft. How are you supposed to manage an army when you are having to micro manage to abilities of some diva hero.
  7. I was totally wrong! I got Dawn of War 1 not 2! I kept playing it going, "Man whats wrong with you guys, this is awesome!"
  8. So during the summer sale I picked up Warhammer 40K Space Marine, and Warhammer 40K Dawn of War II. I heard there may be some fans here. So is there anything I should know before I play them? Also I can't get Dawn of War to work. It keeps crashing every minute or so. Anyone know how to fix this?
  9. Made a subgroup, tell me what you guys think. House Ranv Culture[edit] The Ranv are a particularly cruel house of nobles. Headed by the Duke Roy’Ranv’Zat’Kan, with each aspect of his kingdom delegated to his family. They tend to live in the colder poles of the planets they rule, thinking it more defensible. Preferring the isolation it brings, for they live in a state of near constant paranoia; fearing espionage from other noble houses. As such they keep very tight control of their population, through secret police and spymasters to root out any and all sedition. They have a complex series of laws and regulations to keep a leash on the lower class. They cover everything from times one is allowed to be out at night, to who and when they are permitted to speak to. These laws mostly just serve as justification for the cruelty of their secret police, who mostly indiscriminately lock away anyone suspected of disloyalty to the Duke. Those living under the Ranv do so in a heavily segmented and classist society. At the very bottom are the prisoners, or Kriv. They are often locked away for petty political crimes, but are looked down upon by everyone. Including the class immediately above them, the Prol; or the working class. They perform almost exclusively heavy labor. Mining, garbage collection, cleaning, and repair work is what they are delegated to. They tend to get a break from most of the suspicion the upper class gets from the secret police, because they are thought to be too ignorant to stop the Duke. However the main security force is fond of beating them for a good time. Next up is the white collar work force, the Pov. They perform such duties as office work, engineering, and other standard work. They are often being watched by the secret police, as they are considered educated. High on the totem pol is the military and security force. The Orz, they are very well respected and orders from them are to be followed. However that doesn’t stop the security police from keeping almost non-stop watch over them. Their positions of power make them appear dangerous. Higher still are the secret police and spies, the Cov. While admitting knowledge of them is a crime, most know of their existence and know well enough to follow their orders. Second only to the Duke are his noble family members who are in charge of duties. Even within this class there are divisions, the more honorable and respected a noble’s department, the more power he has. They speak the same language as the other houses, however they created their own currency system in the hopes of deterring foreign bribes. The cash is almost completely digital to prevent anyone from defecting to live under a different house. Relation with the other Kida[edit] Due to their police state, and constant espionage; few other houses are willing to trust the Ranv. Most are openly defiant of them. Some houses go so far as to wage war over Ranv colonial gains, fearing increased Ranv power. Insurrections are common on planets the Ranv conquer from other houses, as few wish to live under the iron fist of the Ranv. However their fears are mostly unfounded as the Ranv mostly leave the colonists alone, acknowledging the futility of trying to control such large populations remotely. Unless the colony is vital to security, or has vast amounts of a valuable resource; the Ranv will rarely send more than a few Cov. Relation to Aliens[edit] It is not uncommon for the Ranv to encourage their people to seek work with foreign corporations, hoping that they will pick up useful skills and information. However the Ranv still keep a close eye on them, hiring many informants within each corporation and sending spies to work with them. Other corporations have been known to contact the Ranv, seeking to learn how they keep such tight control. The Ranv are usually willing to share their tactics in exchange for technology their spies can use. Most notably they have begun to receive shipments of AI’s to use in some large urban centers, from Nanotrasen.
  10. I think that there are parts of it that work tremendously well, and some that do not. The Tajaran is really well written. The Vox is pretty well written too, but there are parts of it that are indicitive of some of Bay's issues. Namely their tendency to include some really cool details, that never appear on game (i.e. critical stacks, other evolution of Vox, Kidan innaprovoline highs, and more. They are really cool ideas, but essentially useless because many of them fall really far outside the scope of the game.
  11. An excellent question! If there isn't we ought to make one, because it makes total sense. Also it would be cool to see the RP effects get transferred mechanically. As well as the caffeine poisoning. Which reminds me, are they aware of the caffeine danger?
  12. Well here is what I have thought of so far. Tell me what you think of each. *[General Kidan] It seems like most Kida tend to stick together and look out for one another. This could be because of rampant discrimination or due to massive cultural gaps between the Kida and the humans. *[General Kidan] Reading over the article it seems to bear resemblance to the governing structure of Dune. I do find it strange that none of the Kida nobles answer to some higher power, however. *[General Kidan] Perhaps we could model the culture after middle Europe. The governments seem similar. *[General Kidan] That many nobles should have some infighting, some history of warfare would be nice to see. *[General Kidan] I was thinking the home-world would be some what European. Lots of flat plains, and forests. Does anyone want to help write sub-cultures?
  13. Kidan are freaking amazing. I love them so much, and may even become my favorite race to play. But in my opinion their lore is a bit lacking. Their society is somewhat medieval in nature, and that seems to be it's only defining feature. There are a number of things that the Tajaran wiki article does really well that I would love to see done on the Kidan article. * Examples of subculture. The Zhan-Khazan article on the Tajaran wiki was fantastic and I would love to see a Kidan equivalent. * Homeworld climate. It is strangely lacking. * Mouth description. The biology article is already well written, but it lacks a description of the mouth. I assume it is mandible like, but it would be nice to know for sure. * General flavor of the major culture.
  14. And I "told" Eddie to rescue from the wilderness of space and survived two nukes with you for nothing!?!? Twas not for nothing. Khar lived a good life.
  15. I figured that pod pilot will use less RP and will garner me less KP to buy more stuff. Kidan is an investment.
  16. Name: Zta'turz'kaz'yav Age: 24 Gender: M Race: Kidan Blood Type: B- General Occupational Role(s): n/a Biography: Born on Turz-IV, he was born into a rebel house of nobles. His family having been forced out of power by the Vazks, he was forced into serfdom. Refusing this life Kaz decided to leave and explore the galaxy. He hitched a ride on an NT explorer ship and was persuaded to go and give the Cyberiad a try. Qualifications: n/a Employment Records: n/a Security Records: n/a Medical Records: n/a Personnel Photo (Appearance text): He looks burly under his shiny colored carapace. His segmented, yellow, huge eyes seem to dance all over the room; taking in a flurry of information. His antennas flick about rapidly. You notice, tucked neatly behind his arms, a pair of tiny vestigial wings. Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]: Other Notes: He can become extremely annoyed when people do not use his preferred name, Kaz. He thinks it is insensitive and shows ignorance to Kidan culture. Even worse people shorten his name incorrectly, or use his nickname without knowing him.
  17. He never knew he would be implanted. He just saw it as another job he could do. The chip never stopped him from regretting what happened, it just meant he blamed himself and not NT.
