The synths and AI seriously need to be removed or changed by scratch.

Because when shit goes down, which synths are supposed to prevent (which they mostly ignore or fail at), then following happens:

    • Synths gun down everybody involved.

    • The Synths get gunned down.

    The latter happens more often.

If there actually isn't anything happening, then the Synths just arrest or lock down everybody that just even DARES to throw a punch at someone.

It happens way more often than it should that people get arrested due to just throwing a punch or something, or even do something that isn't against their laws i.e. stunbaton and cuff someone or break into departments or steal something, it happens way too often than it should.

And the AI usually goes on a power-trip and sometimes even side with a department and act like the boss of the station that lock downs everybody that dares to question them.

Imagine how cool the race will be once those people fade out into obscurity and genuinely interesting characters are born. Imagine the fascinating personalities and backstories and shit. Think about how much fun we can have being creative together and working on a race that could be our own.

Like thats ever going to happen.

    Or does... Or did.

    Exceptions exist.

Seriously though, I'm okay with it being added as adminbus, but hell no, don't you dare make it playable. Last thing we need is another race prone to abuse like neon deamons of hell and awkward suicidal slimes. Hm HMMMMM?

    And oh god the flamestorm..

It would be like the Great Fire of Rome from 64 AD.

Stop being triggered by a spaceman game.

The only reason about 80-90% of the people against it hate it is cuz "waaahh furries" or "waaahh fetish"

    [...]

That being said I don't really care if we have it or not, I just can't deal with all the brainfuck-ness behind this.

That's probably the biggest contra or only one existing against that PR.

Like, there is nothing speaking for it other than adminbus.

So, do we want to take flaming and raging by some people just so a few admins can adminbus with it?

So yeah, I don't want this PR merged not because of "muh purity ", but rather because so "they" have nothing to flame about.

+1, just to piss off the asshats.

That's something we definitely should avoid.

By the way try to avoid putting the matchbox near the fuel.

So, DZD said if we wanted to continue the discussion in a civilized manner thats never going to happen (and I know many want to) we should take it to the forums. Here it is.

    My stance: Absolutely unneeded.

I mean. Why? People know that some guys here absolutely hate it, even if some of the reasons are just filled with rage. So why bother merging it, even if people flame about it. If we're adding it just for the sake of goofs, then we should probably not do it if people hate it, it's not like that PR has any additions to the game or is for the betterment of some people.

So, I'd rather just not bother with it.

EDIT: I'd also feel more comfortable knowing that we do not have something like this in our codebase, even if it is admin-only. Because tbh I'm not the biggest fan of it either.

EDIT2: I think this thread is more fit ine code discussions, so if an admins wants to move this thread, go on. Actually, seems to be a hot topic (WHY). Could get more attention here.

    EDIT3: Spelling here and there.

I'd suggest on either removing or increasing the telecomms character limit, because honestly I can't put in my advanced or complicated scripts in or even actual simple scripts due (like multiple $content = replace() functions) to it.

I don't really have anything to add, beacuse I'm not even sure why it was updated, but it's pretty bad as I already stated before, you can't even finish an simple job abbrevation script, but rather have to ignore half the jobs if you want your script to compile. If it was because of tcomms scripts lagging or crashing the server, then you should atleast solve it in a different way, because this character limit is ridiculously low - I would even appreciate atleast to quadruple the character limit to fit in some of the scripts I have (or others):

    Robotics 2.0

That's... far more tricked out, at least for certain aesthetically, than I've ever gotten robotics so far. Fantastic! Simply looking at your setup, just fills me with ideas... Though, what exactly are you keeping in that display case?

It was supposed to be a Ion Carbine, but the HoS said it would be too dangerous for Robotics to have that, so I had to keep it in a lockbox.

What I mean about is to make admins basically change races if they notice that the chemical (that they defined verbally) has been injected or applied.

Or you just don't change the race at all and let some other thing spice up the round, the RP of the Nucleation would probably be the most important bit after all.

  8.

"Research to find a cure for this ailment has been slow, and so this is a common fate for veteran engineers."

And everything else you said, isn't that what admins are supposed to be doing during events, do something that normally cant happen?

Like, defining a special chemical that'll do something with admin magic.

It's mainly supposed to be an event where all departments get something to do that won't cause any big mayhem if they actually do that.

Also, thoose experiments are supposed to be for reseraching thoose species, considering ICly Cyberiad Staff would not even know about them or what they do, and well, there are things in the lore saying that radiation and the supermatter have special effects on Nucleation.

My thoughts behind the midround antags is they probably wouldn't have as much of an advantage as one would think. Ghosts in me experience tend to gather around something interesting and listen in or alt-tab out. They likely wouldn't know where the commandstaff went and the definitely wouldn't know where target items were. Ghosts can't see into backpacks or closed lockers. Yes they would have a slight advantage if they spent much of their death searching for specific things, but not really a major advantage.

Probably would need a few tweaks for spawning the stealthy antags. Changelings could just be picked from new crew spawning, and lorewise, since vamps are basically bluespess entities possessing corpses, could have a corpse that someone is sitting in rez.

That's what you may think, but Admins have a strict policy on that.

In example, I accidently once typed ghost instead of give as a Traitor and were put back into my body 10 seconds and I got almost all of my objectives changed because I COULD have gone searching for him during that. You can not 100% say that the ghosts did not search for something, in which the Admins then are forced to assume that they have if you can't proove they didn't because they could have a major advantange by being ghosts, and if you talk abou tthoose alt-tab outted ghosts, what are they supposed to do if they are being picked as antags? Because they're basically just AFK, because there are lots of ghosts that are literally doing something else than playing and maybe just miss the whole round while they're picked as antags or something. You could say to now insert a "Join antag" box, but problem #1 would still exist.

    Name of Event: De-nucleation.

One Sentence Description: The Central Command sector for Science & Health sends a team of Biohazard Workers together with a Nucleation victim in hope to finding the cure for the disease.

    Map Changes: No.

    Code Changes: No.

Suggested Number of Players: Decently staffed medbay/science department.

Full Description of Event: A team of Biohazard Workers have been sent to NSS Cyberiad together with a victim of the Nucleation disease.

(http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/Nucleation) In hope to finding the cure for the disease which CentComm has failed in they've asked the Science and Medbay department of NSS Cyberiad for help in finding the right chemical or antigen to combat Nucleation. The victim itself maybe could go out on a rampage or have a mental breakdown in which Psychiatry and Security would also have involvement. The Engineering department may be given the objective of setting up a supermatter for Science to do testings on it with the victim considering that a Nucleation is just a victim of long-term v-radiation exposure of supermatters and also have some properties of radiation-healing.

Maybe the cure is not in a chemical or antigen but just in some natural foods or meals in which Botany and the Chef also could get involved. Cargo also would need to order all the things for the Engineers, Chemists, Scientists, Doctors and other departments to actually work productively to finding the cure.

    Mid-round antags?

BAD idea, just BECAUSE they are picked from the ghost base, in example: Soon-to-be-nukeops-ghosts literally have a live tactical map of the whole map including where the Nuke Disk is, what the situation on the round is, how Command behaves, what the Captain is currently doing and they literally will have ALL of that information that normal start-round NukeOps don't have, which means they have a huge tactical advantange over the crew, same goes for other antags like Vox Raider, because they woudl have full knowledge where the ores/command/security and other stuff are which they could steal, some of theese things then again also can apply to other more stealthy antags.

Merged antag rounds on start (antag vs. antag) sounds like a neat idea, but the whole mid-round antag idea is bad.

  12.

Sounds entertaining, but Autolathes (Cargo and Research) can print more radios and headsets. Plus cargo can order keys. This would have to be addressed or it'd be a pretty minor hump to cross. A virus randomly scrambling radio channels or telecoms in general would be more of a hamper.

You could additionaly also just delete all of the machinery on Telecomms to prevent that, but for Science printing station bounced radio I'll have to figure something out.

  13.

Name of Event: "Where's my headset?"

One Sentence Description: All headsets and station intercoms have been removed, only each Security Officer gets their own station-bounced radio.

    Map Changes: Low.

    Code Changes: No.

    Suggested Number of Players: 50+

Full Description of Event: The headsets and station intercoms and station bounced radios are gone, the only ones left with a way to communicate with each other rapidly are Security Officers. The only way of communication for generic crew is the PDA messenger. Traitors and all other kinds of Antags now have easy prey, nobody can instantly notify the entire Station that they're being kidnapped by Traitor XY or get killed by them. And while the left half of the station might get massacred by someone with a Surpressed Weapon, the other half just might not notice a thing. Medbay will also have to struggle with the consequences of no rapid and station-wide communication, people can not scream in the radio anymore for Paramedics to arrive and the lack of communication inbetween the department also suffers greatly. The department that might suffer the most is Command. Someone just broke into your office and aims a gun at you with you being the Captain? Well, you fucked up. Or have a very important message that is only reserved to command? Either take the way to announce it over the whole station or wait hours for the heads to arrive at the bridge.

Basically: The Station's Logistics Management has became extremely hard to manage as the Heads now have no way to order around their underlings and the inter-departmental communications also breaks down.
