    Bumped with rework.

Science intern/assistant (unfortunately english lacks special term for junior science worker rank like post-soviet countries) - same as scientist but newbie. Supposed to help other scientists instead of conducting independent research.

There exists a title, it's called Graduate, you can call them Science Graduates.

Or you know what we could also do?

Make cloning only work when pre-scanned, and not when already dead, simple as that.

IC reasons? You can't be cloned after death has occurred because you would have lost brain cells already, basically giving the clone irreparable brain damage and or PTSD from the death experience and that hey might even not be the person they once were because of the brain cells they lost.

So yeah, maybe we could make it be able to clone when dead when it reaches BlueSpace Tier parts, because right now the BlueSpace Scanning Module adds nothing. This could also be added to a nerf of genetics for excessive usage of block injectors and basically rushing the powers not having to worry about killing the subjects, and they only have to not wory about killing the subjects when they reached a BlueSpace Scanning Module.

I feel like player complaints should have the option of being made public while being processed so everyone could put their input in it to the player in question or something else, but of course, if you're not involved and shitpost in it, you get warned and that. Because some times you just want other people's opinions on the player in question because having to ask everybody if they want to get involved in the complaint, making a list of all the guys then adding them to the witnesses list just is too hard, even at finding them, prolly putting away credibillity of the complainant because of lack of witnesses or evidence.

Because it IS a player complaint, not a incident complaint, and I think if there's a complaint about someone, there may be several other people that also wanna say something to person X.

Well, either that or add a entirely new sub-forum for theese kinds of thread somewhat of a "people's congress" similar to admin complaints, what do you think?

    Cliques

I'd say any cliques we have now aren't as bad as they used to be, particularly when a certain well-known roleplay server went the way of the Hindenberg and we got to deal with the dregs from that community. Compared to how clique behaviour from those days, I'm seeing considerably fewer instances of:

-Clique captains handing all-access IDs to their private pals.

-Cliques building exclusive bars/clubs in maint and locking themselves away from the station.

-Cliques crowding the comm lines with a species-specific language.

-Cliques joining sec to invite their non-sec buddies into secure areas of the brig on a regular basis.

    -Cliques making people salty.

-Cliques joining sec just to screw around in dorms and do nothing that contributes to the team.

-Cliques intentionally collaborating with antag buddies, such as those who wilfully allow vampires to feed on them, etc.

-Cliques believing that they are allowed to be as abrasive and self-righteous as they want without security reprisal.

    -Cliques making people salty.

-Cliques who believe they have the impunity to claw someone's face apart over an argument.

-Cliques who'll be talkin' up all that good shit a minute ago and start crying when it's revealed just how inept they are at spaceman fisticuffs.

-Cliques who think they can take on the sec department for interrupting the clique while it's lynching someone.

-Cliques who think that trying (and failing) to shoot the HoS into space using disposals doesn't warrant getting treated like antags.

-Cliques just generally being shitty players and trying to turn ma super srs spessman simulation into their recess playground from gradeschool.

    -Cliques making people really salty.

All in all, things have improved dramatically since then, and I'm not sure if it's as much of a problem now as some would make it out to be.

Shit, I never had to deal with cliques a year ago, for me it's way worse now.

  5.

Man, this will literally end in Vox + Resomi cliques.

    Is cousin, yaya.

We do need to replace it with a race though, with the amount of species we have it's not even funny anymore.

And hell no, don't replace Vox.

    +Add

  6.

I'm like totally with David Rossi and TheBeoni with this one.

There are rounds where the Station is 60 to 70% vulps and I really don't like it, it's just something, no.

You have to admit, the cliques are strong in Vulps, backing each other up whatever it takes, even if it completely fucks up another round, and most times, there's nothing that will be done about it. They sometimes hang out all together in one room, building their fort, ignoring their jobs and co-workers.

This literally never happens with Humans, only rarely, either when they're basically making a Gang or an Antag group (That's perfectly OK of course).

Even with races like IPC, Vox, Slime and other races it's not really that bad, you may seem groups of them walking together sometimes even making their own room, but they do tend to interact with the outside crew when needed, and usually hang out at locations which nobody cares about that's secluded.

Some vulps even actively fuck with other guys just for the fun, and since they back each other up, you have literally no chance to defend yourself alone.

There are basically no Tajarans anymore, not really important, but Jay Wingler is one of thoose legendary artifact tajarans that are still going to this day.

And yeah, Paradise has been hugboxed with the addition of LINDA.

You can walk THROUGH fires and then just resist to put it out, same goes with breaches, just that you don't need to resist.

I'd like a lag-inducing super-lethal atmos system than one that.. doesn't basically exist.

Plasma fires are literally useless, they burn out on spot before spreading.

    Also another challenge?

The Anti-Sec Circlejerk & Shitcurity problem, I've made a thread about it, so.

  7.

I generally have bias towarda Vox since most players that use them end up using their species to toe the line in some way and act like assholes. Vox isn't an excuse to be a greytider shitter but most of them are anyways. I understand their race is supposed to be mischevious and uncivilized, but way too many Vox go way too far. And sure it's not just a Vox thing, but Vox tend to band together and in general act like asses when they are "wronged".

You can apply this to all other races that are not Greys or Skrell.

  8.

How do you even abuse a species to self antag?

    - In which pocket your voxygen tank is?

    - Wont say ya.

    - Huh, okay *striping all the things, tank falls on the ground and picked up to be worn back on voxy in belt slot*

[Common] Voxy Shitter (Greytider): HELP HELP SHITCURITY TOOK AWAY MY VOXYGEN YA YA IS DYING!!

I bet you nobody buys a 40KP (?) race just to annoy Security.

  9.

There are a few repeat offender Vox shitters I have in mind. Seriously, can we just hammer all Vox who use their species as an excuse to self antag and be shitters?

How is that supposed to improve the situation?

As if banning them from playing Vox is gonna stop them from being shitters, and you have some real bias here.

Because I know 5x more assholes that are Humans than Vox or any other race.

How do you even abuse a species to self antag?

  10.

Voxygen being removed is certainly a thing, yes. Although I hope it's forgetting rather than anything sinister. When your Vox had their tank taken a couple of days ago, I didn't believe it - Because your character was calling for help at every opportunity, until I saw the tank and stammering.

Do you think there is an element of apathy regarding security performance? A collective shrug from the player base acknowledging shitcurity is the established standard?

And yes, quite often, he who shouts "ASSAULT HALP" first gets the other arrested - regardless of whoever actually initiated or did the most damage.

IAAs are criminally underused, Magistrates won't often pay attention to minor/medium crimes. The HOS needs something to utilise to question the decision of his officer - But when it's arresting officer versus arrestee, you don't have anything to go on, unless the officer says they did wrong. I can't say on the administrators front, but Tully did mention SOP was strictly IC.

All SOP is IC. I will keep repeating this until people get the memo.

    EDIT

although the rules do explicity state failure to follow security sop may result in a job ban. How many job bans are given for not following secsop?

Saying all SOP is IC does not improve the situation at all, it just keeps worsening.

You can't keep on saying SOP is IC and hope it's going to improve, it will not, other action has to be taken.

  11.

There's the intentionally malcompetent security personnel, and then there's the people suffering from the Dunning-Krueger Effect, I think Dunning-Krueger Victims are way more popular, because the real shitters that actively try to be shit mostly get lynched or something alike, demoted, what do I know.

The Shitcurity stuff like that happens behind the curtains of the public, which is why admins don't or don't want to do anything against it, they just tell you to go to the IAA.

To be honst, I'm also playing Vox characters, and I could count about 30 times my tank got taken away and that even sometimes in a row in the time I played on the servers, and sometimes the same person does it next round again and again. When it's coming to arrests mostly people just arrest the first person they hear about.

If someone screams in radio that they've been pushed or punched by you while you started he started, more often than not will you get insta-tased even when it was THAT guy that started it, you have almost 0 chance explaining to it because appearently you should have screamed first. Happened a lot to people while I was observing or even me personnaly, and when you try explaining the situation, more often than not will you get ignored, no matter if you present evidence against them or something, it's too complicated for shitcurity, they go the easy way, which is what ruins most people's rounds.

There need to be superiors that you can talk to, to solve this problems. But theese don't exist. Before you're in a cell, you get told to wait it out after procesing. While you're in a cell, your chances are next to 0 to get out of it by talking to superiors, because they'll usually trust their sec officers more than they do the prisoners, and after the cell-time, nobody cares anymore, you'll get told to man up or again that it doesn't matter anymore.

And that's what makes people salty or me, even, after all the failed attempts on talking to the Officer's Superiors and the Superior's Superior he'll be "soaking it up" and then go on on an Anti-Security circlejerk with others, what just worsens the problem.

    EDIT: Context errors

IAA and Magisrates doesn't exist (rarely). HoS sticks to their Officers. Captain doesn't want to get involved.

Not saying this applies to everyone, but about the majority, it does.

There needs to be more power being given to IAA or third-party investigators or more OOC intervention.

  12.

So, as we can see on the server, many people distrust Security to the fullest going as far as even actively going against Sec in every matter.

This may be largely because there are too many cases of incompetent or just plain shit Security Officers.

So, single cases of Shitcurity happen very so often, and as long as they're not plainly griefing and murdering or permabrigging random guys you're usually getting told off by the admins to take it to IAA or the HoS.

The only problem: IAA doesn't exist 95% of the time, its a thankless job, just as trying to be a good officer, you get no reward or sometimes even punishments by playing it, I've been bwoinked once for being a hired Lawyer trying to get a guy out of perma and even succeeding (through Sec) giving the Traitor greentext without me knowing about it, so yeah. You sometimes get told to just fuck off by sec with your "evidence". And most times they tell you to speak to the HoS, whereas you just get told off again, most times saying "there are more important things than this" or they just simply stick to their officers. So, you got told off by admins, Sec and the HoS and IAA doesn't exist. What now. The Captain? Good luck, you'll more often than not told to take it to the HoS or IAA or say "I'll fire them next time" just because they don't want to get involved or sometimes can't.

As good IAA you may have a chance to fax CC.

But results vary, you either get ignored or get a response with a warning paper for them.

    What now? Nothing happened.

Dealing with Shitcurity cases while round end is near has even a lower chance of something happening.

So there needs to be taken more OOC action against Shitcurity, because ICly the department will die off and only have guys suffering from the Dunning-Krueger effect or people actively wanting to annoy people and all the good officers just leave because its just thankless, and theres no denying this is happening right now. And then you could read this post again, just addressing more issues.

I'm not saying that there are no cases where there's something done because of Shitcurity, but it's getting more and more uncommon while ignoring it and saying "doesn't matter" is becoming more of a trend.

    Express your opinion about it.

    -The Vulp mafia.

Dude, all races aside from greys (because no one plays greys) are cliquey as hell. I'd say IPCs are the worst due to there being so many of them, just everyone complains about the vulps because they are the newest.

Vulps are by far the worst. Vox and IPC cliques I've seen are willing to interact with people outside their group, Vulps on the other hand outright ignore or refuse to help people not in their clique and are constantly on the edge of meta-friending it's ridiculous.

    Yes.

  15.

-The general anti-security circlejerk. Seriously, we're players too, we're not all powertripping assholes.

    >VFZadGg.png as Signature.

    K den.

    Me list.

    - Heads that deliberately go against their entire Department's will and want the exact opposite.

    - Powersgamers that get all of their shit at round-start (I.e. RDs with NASA Suit, Stunprods, Handcuffs, Deathsprays, Magboots and etc.)

    - People running boring stale gimmicks.

    - Heads using their telebaton as "the will enforcement baton".

    - People adminhelping everything even if it is the most legit. (I got bwoinked 3 times as Sec Officer once because I arrested guys with legit reasons who then spammed ahelp. Sec, never again.).

    - People hating an entire race because of single cases of assholes. (The most assholes are in the human race, you know?)

    - Vulp cliques

  16.

Man, this is probably the most snowflake race I've seen yet.

Seriously though, why would NanoTrasen ever hire a race that can not work properly because they have to live in the dark or otherwise in the box.

That's like hiring a blind guy as Drive School Teacher.

And with the addition of Drask that already happened, this is never going to get implemented any time soon (Fox™).

Also, the ominous thing you mention as "RP" will probably be only used by 30-40% of the guys playing that race.

And jesus christ, the box mechanic, that'll give people another reason to scream at Security trying to searching them "HELP SHITCURITY, THEYRE TAKING MY BOX!!!!!!!".

And man, theese guys as Vampires or Changelings are going to be OP as fuck when in maintenance tunnels (where they usually are) considering their full on free NV and regeneration.

  17.

Want to be the absolute best captain? Help the antags. I'm not kidding.

99% of the shittery, SoP violations, and comdom claims come about when the captain gets themselves way too into the quest for antags, and tosses spacelaw and SoP out the window. That is a bad captain.

So, you help the antags, by enforcing SoP and space law with an iron fist. Security feeding everyone holy water during a cult/vamp round, you lock that shit down and tell them to stop it. HoS wanting to execute a traitor coz he caught them with an emag? You roll up to the bridge, thoughtfully nod your head at the obvious BS story about finding the emag in maint, and have the guy brigged for contraband. Red alert 5 minutes into the round because the teleporter door was hacked and the hand tele is gone? Fuck that, you're relaxing, go get more proof.

So find the balance. If everyone is playing by the SoP/spess law and an antag gets caught, give sec their victory, let them do the perma/execution thang. If they're flouting those same things and summary harmbaton executing "confirmed" cuffed antags in the hallway, start going after those same security members for murder.

    Only problem:

Now you have almost 3/4 of command and all of Sec hating you.

And if you lost loyality of Sec, then oh boy you fucked.
