    Every single piece of clothing in the game has some sort of armor value, no matter how minute it may be. Depending on what coat you are using, the cumulative armor values can go anywhere between just what the vest offers (in case of unarmored clothing) to hilariously broken super-armor (in case of anything Security can use as coats).

    And if the higher armor value is to overwrite the lower one, not only would that kinda miss the point on having two layers of protection, but would also require some heavy snowflaking if you want to have it overwrite just SOME items.

    Descriptive kissing - Apparently describing how you kiss a person is erotic...Since when did kissing become a sexual arousal? Told not to do it again.

    I... will not touch this, as it would need me to go look at the logs and see exactly what was said. While simple kissing is permitted, anything that could potentially carry a more powerful sexual undertone would infringe on the ERP rule.

    And yes, kissing does entail sexual arousal. It is commonly seen as a very intimate physical gesture.

    Shuttle Brig Escape - So I saw a friend of my (not IRL, just a friend I made during that round) in custody from a security officer taking her to the shuttle brig. I manage to get her out of the shuttle brig and failed halfway escaping. Told not to do it again.

    While some greytiding is not against the Server Rules, the Administration can and will call out players who are acting in a blatantly disruptive manner. As detailed in the "Self-Antagging" Server Rule, it is not your job to cause chaos and create extra work for Security, and if the round was particularly chaotic, going around releasing people from the Shuttle Brig falls into that category.

    Captain Complaint - I faked file a complaint because I didn't have time since the entire station was in total chaos. Told not to do it again.

    Not entirely sure what you mean by this, so I will take both possible meanings:

    1) Faking complaints via fax to get someone fired is dickish, and being a right asshole, especially if you are targeting key personnel for no reason and have nothing to back it up, and falls under the "Maintain a respectful environment" Rule if stretched enough. Do not do it;

    2) Filing a false Adminhelp will get you into massive trouble for trying to get someone else into trouble under false pretenses. Do not do it

    Captain order of demotion of HoS - I demoted the HoS for doing something (I don't remember). And was told by the admin that I made a bad decision. Told not to do it again.

    I was the one handling this particular case, and it fell square into "Play the Role you have chosen". We expect our Command Staff to be more competent than the average player, and not make round-altering decisions based on shoddy evidence.

    Killing a prisoner - I was playing a security officer and some dude kept stabbing me with a broken bottle. As per SOP, i'm free to take any necessary action even if it means killing someone. I killed the person and fainted next to him. But I wasn't a antag. Wasn't against the rules because it wasn't a "minor" agression. Told not to do it again.

    I cannot speak for the circumstances, but you also have:

    a) A stunbaton;

    b) A flash;

    c) A taser;

    d) A can of pepperspray

    Now, if all these options were invalidated, sure. But lethal force is a last resort, not a first/middle one.

    Gravity Generator Bomb - I was a traitor and couldn't complete the greentext. So I used all the last of my TC to try to blow up the gravity generator...Not against the rules. Told not to do it again.

    We have always enforced "Stick to your objectives" when it comes to Antagonists. And we have always made a point that random chaos is not permitted without either the Hijack objective or Admin permission. Which is clearly stated in the "Antagonist" Rule

  3.

    Greetings.

    Following investigation of the matter at hand, and a discussion with the Administrator in question, the following points have been deemed relevant to this Complaint:

    1) While we can understand the reason why you ordered the AI to kill Security, this would still fall under the umbrella of Excessive Antagonist Action. As a norm, we do not permit preemptive murdering of Security if you are not an Antagonist that is, by definition, round-ending, such as a Blob or a Wizard;

    2) As noted by the Administrator in question, the Ban was a result of a long string of notes and incidents attached to your account. They have, to the best of my knowledge and memory, discussed this with you when talking about the Antagonist Ban;

    However:

    3) Your side of the story, was not considered, or in fact asked for. This is a crucial matter, and indeed a very valid complaint. Barring extreme circumstances (such as massive bomb grief), it is customary for Administrators to contact individuals believed to be breaking the Server Rules. This situation was not an exception, and yet, was treated like one;

    4) As a result, the Administrator in question has been spoken with, and provided with a stern warning regarding proper action in handling situations similar to these in the future. Namely, they have been informed that, barring the extreme circumstances mentioned above, they are to contact individuals before applying any sort of punishment or warning. The Administrator in question has, as well, offered their apologies, and a promise that this situation will not be repeated.

    If you wish to bring up any other relevant points, please do so.

    I have since added Civil Disputes to Legal Standard Operating Procedure. It is currently in its trial period.

    Hopefully, this will work out.

    If not, well, oh well.

    Please contact me or Necaladun for any proposed change to it.

  5.

    The main issue I have about this is that it is already fully possible for you to do this, without the whole bureaucratic process.

    I am not certain if laying down framework for actual civil disputes would be a positive addition, because not only would that tie down even more resources during even more time, it may actually discourage people from getting involved. Sure, it will be used when its novel, but when a third of the station wants to complain about the other two thirds, then you have a massive backlog that will most likely NOT be solved unless the Magistrate does nothing but civil disputes all shift long.

    What is the Lore Team?

    The Lore Team is a small group comprised of Staff and Non-Staff players of the community that have come together to tackle the issue of Lore on Paradise Station. Considering most of it is either outdated, obsolete, or a literal copypaste of Bay Lore, it was decided that Paradise's Lore required some touching up.

    The Lore Team is not interested in producing Bay-style Lore (ie: "follow this or get BWOINK'd"), but rather in producing quality world-building that players can choose to use to build their characters upon. So, rather than having to follow the presented Lore, you can choose to use it as a large building block, as a minor reference, or just outright ignore it. The choice is still yours.

    Who is the Lore Team?

    The Lore Team is currently comprised of myself, Fethas, Twinmold, FlattestGuitar, Shadeykins and SigholtStarsong. It is currently headed by myself, which is to say, if you want someone to murder over a lore decision, I was the biggest target they could find.

    In all seriousness, the team itself is not exclusive to Staff, but it does have restricted access. Acceptance into the Lore Team is based on an unanimous vote by the existing team members, which is itself based on how much the members trust the applicant to produce quality content in terms of lore.

    If you wish to apply to be in the Lore Team, please be advised that the entirety of its duty is to sit down and write internally consistent, plausible, entertaining and usable lore, and not anything overly exciting and action-y. If you believe you have what it takes, and are willing to sit down and discuss the virtues of a caste system in a race of space chickens, then please contact any current member of the Lore Team (you can do this via the Paradise Discord channel, using the command @Lore Team). You will be informed on whether or not you were accepted.

    APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.

    How does the Lore Team work?

    There is no real hierarchy inside the Lore Team. We possess a Google Drive with all relevant documentation, and the process itself is very simple:

    1) A Lore draft document is created, and edited/created as necessary;

    2) The rest of the Lore Team is then invited to offer feedback and criticism via Comments and Notes on the document;

    3) This continues until the draft is agreed upon by the team as being of a sufficient quality

    After this process is complete, the now finished draft is presented to the Heads of Staff, which will then offer their final approval or disapproval. If the draft is approved, it will be up for the community to see, and then made official lore if everything goes just right.

    This means that, if you wish to participate in the Lore Team, being able to take criticism in stride and working as a team is a requirement. You may believe your ideas are fantastic, but if the rest of the Team disagrees and offers legitimate reasons as to why, you should be able to absorb that information and learn from it. After all, practice makes perfect.

    For any other questions regarding the Lore Team, feel free to contact me, or any other member of the Team, either via the Forums or Discord.

    As much as I can relate, giving Officers something like this to wave around would lead to far, FAR more abuse than actual enforcement of its intended use.

    Otherwise, there would have to be a defined special guideline on JUST THIS CRIME, and I am not in any rush to bloat Sec paperwork even more than I already have.

  8.

    Under risk of offending a whole lotta people, I am beginning to feel like most of the regulars got far too used to the unlisted server and its safe consistency and regularity.

    The server is not the chaotic wasteland of death that a lot of people seem to believe it is. I have personally witnessed about... 5 listings, and I can tell you right now, this is the single most successful one. If you believe this is "oh my god horrible", then I wonder what you would have thought about the last ones (where we had legit Fascist Nazi security, Tabun bombings, racial pogroms and the like).

    After the initial surge of tide went down, the server has managed to begin finding its sweet spot. I, for one, welcome the future.

  9.

    Security Officer and Civilian slots grow in a direct ratio (3:1 civvies to Officers, maybe 2:1, not sure). This means that, as soon as every job slot is filled, there is no way for the station to flood with civilians without having an accompanying ratio of Sec Officers.

    The issue is people not wanting to latejoin as Officers. Frankly, I do not blame them.

  10.

    Bay can afford to have such a complex system because:

    1) They have longer rounds;

    2) They are a lot more focused on RP than mechanical gameplay;

    3) Their crime rate is 1-2 crimes per round

    Their system would NEVER work here.
