Bring back Red Alert grenade launchers.

In the hands of an inexperienced player, they took up the belt slot and sat there until the round ended. In the hands of a competent security guard, they could pin down a nuke ops team long enough for the captain to clear the area. During Red Alert, the grenade launchers could play a pivotal role in the defense of the station. We should definitely bring them back.

Oooh ! Ooh! One of these! It's pump action too(and can hold 4 grenades)! The stations favorite! The GM94!

just as a general thing worth mentioning....this isn't bringing back "red alert" grenade launchers.

This is bringing back grenade launchers for any time the Warden or HoS wants them or wants to hand them out.

As long as they have a reasonable delay between shots, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a grenade launcher. The only difference between it and a plain box of flashbangs is that you can use it one handed, and it holds... Fewer grenades at once.

Also, handing them out would be as serious of an action as handing out lethals, and doing so frivolously would be punished just as harshly. So, yes, the warden is free to hand them out because the Clown wrote 'poo' in crayon on the brig floor, and he's free to be jobbanned for it.

What if we made them hold 4+1 grenade and you had to rack a new one in each time? When you fire it, the fuse is brought down to naught and it detonates on impact.

So an AoE instant stun with 5 shots? Even I think that's absolutely ridiculous and super unfun to play against.

Not just AoE stun...AoE flashes and deafen--not to mention it can deal permanent eye damage.

Woops, typo. I meant 3+1 in the chamber. It would take slightly longer to cycle the breach than the combat shotgun. It was meant to mimic the China Lake Grenade Launcher.

Tl;dr: add an extra round and make it pump action instead of semi-auto.

You could also give the HoS a semi-auto drum magazine launcher.

It's not if we re add the armory door! :D

Ah yes... the armory door not even the AI could open, just a greytider with a death wish and a load of balls and tools, it would make it easier to get inside tough for other antags from the outside since it would take a while to get inside from the other side.

This guy approves:

Grenade launchers in the armoury could work, though frag grenades could be a little too powerful. Maybe tear gas, like Arthur already said?

I'd like them to be brought back, but only if they're well balanced by adding some sort of cooldown between each shot, or requiring the user to stand still and wait with a small delay to reload.

Allow the launched grenades to be cooked by requiring two mouse clicks - one arms the grenade, the second fires it. This way, you CAN have it be an instant AoE stun, but it takes a few seconds to do.

Also, racking the next shell should require the user to click the launcher with itself (or press Z), and wait between one and two seconds or drop the shell.

Finally, make a Janitor-only Cargo crate with a grenade launcher and two full clips of cleaning grenades.
