Department / Job Goals Ideas

Most of you probably have seen the game praising the roboticists (" has done their fucking job!") at the end of the round. This is tied to the completion of their job objective(s)/goal(s).

 

Essentially, for those not familiar with it, they are offered a pay bonus for completing a task. Usually it's something like "Build a Ripley" or "Make a cyborg", and has a reward of 500 credits for each employee in robotics. While this isn't a huge deal, it does give them an incentive and objective to work towards without causing them to stray too far from their normal activities.

 

The game handles the tracking and rewarding of the goal automatically, not the admins online at the time, so the system is in place to theoretically apply goals like this to ANY department/job.

 

I'd like to work on introducing this system to new jobs, and am willing to handle any of the code necessary to make it work. However, the code does not contain any goals for any other jobs, creating an obvious obstacle.

 

So, I turn to you, our players, to assist with coming up with new goals! These need to be fairly straightforward and clear, for the sake of both the player and the tracking of progress. Things like "Steal everything from the derelict" aren't viable for this reason, but "Recover the 'God King Emperor of Mankind' Disk" could be, as this can more easily be tracked.

 

I'd like to request that if you submit ideas, please use a format similar to this:

Completion Criteria:

 

"Department / Job(s)" would be the roles that receive the objective and will be rewarded for completion.

"Objective Text" is what gets sent to the players, and should be brief and clearly worded. Vague text should be avoided, as it can cause confusion or even discourage attempting the objective.

"Completion Criteria" is the trigger for completion. For simple tasks like "Build a Ripley", this would obviously be completion of a Ripley mech, while something like "prepare 15 tacos" would be triggered on completion of the 15th prepared taco (not have 15 tacos on the map at one time). Retrieval objectives would have a trigger of "object enters Z-level 1", as this would count as the object being brought to the station.

 

Here is a couple examples that I have come up with so far, to help get an idea of how they might look.

 

 

Department / Job(s): Chef / Botanist

Objective Text: Prepare 15 Tacos and/or Enchiladas.

Completion Criteria: 15th Taco or Enchilada produced

 

 

 

Department / Job(s): Telescience (Science)

Objective Text: Retrieve the disk 'God King Emperor of Mankind'.

Completion Criteria: Disk enters Z-Level 1 (Station Z-Level)

 

 

 

Department / Job(s): Cargo / Mining

Objective Text: Return 100 points worth of materials in a single shipment.

Completion Criteria: Return a supply shuttle carrying objects worth 100+ supply points.

 

 

Jobs can be limited to a single job, multiple jobs (even cross-departmental), or an entire department. Please do not post objectives for Civillians, as they have no responsibility or wages.

 

EDIT: Security does not need a "Beat the clown" objective. They already do that without being promised a bonus.

Objective Text: Mine and process X pieces of (optionally) X ore.

Completion Criteria: have the furnace keep track of what it smelts and how much it does, and just check that.

 

 

 

Department / Job(s): Geneticists/Medical Doctors

Objective Text: Have atleast X people scanned in the cloning computers.

Completion Criteria: check the cloning scans on every cloning computer, and just add them together

 

 

 

Department / Job(s): Janitor

Objective Text: Ensure that X area is spotless at the end of the shift

Completion Criteria: just check if the contents of an area include vomit/dirt/blood/etc

 

 

 

Department / Job(s): Clown

Objective Text: Slip atleast X people before the end of the shift

Completion Criteria: just count every time somebody slips

 

 

 

Department / Job(s): HoP

Objective Text: Ensure Ian comes back to centcomm alive and well on the shuttle.

Completion Criteria: just check if Ian's on the shuttle when it docks, and alive

 

 

 

Department / Job(s): Engineers

Objective Text: Ensure atleast X amount of power is being generated at the end of the shift

Completion Criteria: probably codeable, but don't ask me how

 

 

 

Department / Job(s): Atmos

Objective Text: Ensure there are no active alarms at the end of the shift

Completion Criteria: there already is a list of alerts for borgs/computers, think 5 seconds about that

To be honest, I was hoping for more along the lines of tasks that don't wait until round end, since at that point you can't really do anything with the reward. Obviously some things like ultra-clean station or such would be checked at round end, but that's so it isn't considered complete at round start.

Well you could take many of those and just spawn them mid round with a timer.

"You have 15 minutes to slip 20 people and not get put in handcuffs. Be smart about it, you are not allowed to hurt anybody, go!"

 

"We want the Bar squeaky clean in 3 minutes, go!"

Completion Criteria: Discover the following power (List any medium-major powers here).

 

Department / Job(s): Scientist and Research Director

Objective Text: Reach maximum research.

Completion Criteria: Maximize research levels.

 

Department / Job(s): Xenoarcheologist

Objective Text: Discover and grow a fossilized plant, Discover and uncover an animal fossil.

Completion Criteria: Discover any of the fossilized plants and grow them, or discover an animal fossil and take it out of the dirt.

 

Department / Job(s): Anomalist

Objective Text: Discover an alien artifact.

Completion Criteria: Discover any alien artifact.

 

Department / Job(s): Xenobiologist

Objective Text: Breed the [insert the best Slime color] here.

Completion Criteria: Breed the [insert best Slime color] here.

 

Department / Job(s): Plasma Researcher

Objective Text: Make a bomb and detonate it.

Completion Criteria: Make a bomb and safely detonate it.

 

Department / Job(s): Clown

Objective Text: Obtain a HONK mech.

Completion Criteria: Get a HONK mech (somehow) and ride in it once.

 

Department / Job(s): Surgeon/Medical Doctor

Objective Text: Perform one successful surgery.

Completion Criteria: Perform a single successful surgery.

 

Department / Job(s): Chemist

Objective Text: Make one of each beneficial chemical (The only beneficial chemicals I know are dexalin, kelotane, inaprovaline, and tricordazine)

Completion Criteria: Make one of each beneficial chemical.

 

Department / Job(s): Virologist

Objective Text: Discover a beneficial virus or cure a virus.

Completion Criteria: Discover any beneficial virus or cure a dangerous virus.

 

Department / Job(s): Engineer

Objective Text: Set up the SM or singularity.

Completion Criteria: Initiate the SM or start the singularity's PA once it's containment is constructed.

 

Department / Job(s): Life Support Specialist/Atmos technician

Objective Text: Put out a fire.

Completion Criteria: Put out a fire by any means.
