  1. Personally the way I see people that want the pod gone is people just don't want their nuke ops ruined .5 seconds sooner than it would be normally. That said, I've also not seen anyone actually complain about the pod pilot. I would think it has the exact same issues as the Mechanic. That being fucking off into space at the earliest convenience. For the people that actually play the pilot properly, they tend to be an important asset. Plus this. Of course, the issue I see is that all the karma jobs are one person. Which I think is why we won't really see a second slot (argument likely being, "if we do it for one we have to do it for all", which is of course a silly line of thought). With summer coming up again, and most being out of school in the US I think, it may be useful to have some slots open for people. That's mostly my two cents. I think it'd be fun as hell to fly around with a second guy, hell, even using callsigns so we can act out our Top Gun fantasies IN SPACE. And also kill carp and stuff. And protect and serve the station from space and looking damn fine while doing it.
  2. Just last night I saw a clown get shot and nearly killed by the Detective for hitting people with a foam armblade, while the detective was calling them a changeling (it was a regular traitor round if I recall correctly). Detective got handled eventually, but I think it's still shows at least a minor issue within the playerbase's mindset. That being said, earlier that day I watched a Chief Engineer, and Security, actually roleplay not knowing what the glowing bloody runes were simply because they could know. I was genuinely impressed, because that is an extreme rarity, and something that was nice to see for once. Security didn't scream "cultist", heads didn't go to red alert, no lynching was done in the time I was there. I had to leave early unfortunately. I've seen a few threads hitting on this. It's obviously an issue, and I know it has been since at least last summer, when we were getting 90-120 people a round. Coupled with staff issues at that time, I think it allowed a mindset to form. And now I think we're reaping the effects of that mindset. When it comes to validhunting antagonists, I have always been against this. I know I had one instance where it seemed like that was what I was doing, but it wasn't intentional. Back on track though, I had seen some ups and downs regarding this, as mentioned above. I personally preferred when there were a few exceptions to the kill on sight rule, and handled from an IC perspective rather than the OOC. Vampires, for example, weren't kill on sight (and friendly vampires were really annoying, admittedly, when they were every one of them every round), but they could definitely be suspected of Syndicate ties simply for being on the station. And honestly? That seemed better roleplayed, though there'd still be the validhunting of them. I would think exploiting their utility would be even more useful. For example, I always enjoyed being a Blueshield vampire. Protecting the heads with supernatural abilities made the role interesting, and for a time I think it changed opinions a bit. Changelings, nuke ops, and wizards though. The first one has been repeatedly pointed to as already killing in order to be the primary identity in order to get aboard. Nuke ops... I think that really goes without saying that they need to be handled accordingly. Wizards can go either way. Peaceful wizard equals Extended, ragin' mage equals "station wide manhunt oh god everyone hide", and there's never a middle ground for that when it's played. Cultists I think are usually handled... wrong. Or worse than they should be. Sure, arcane tome is going to scream "okay, something is wrong here" and/or "CULTISTS! HOLY WATER FOR EVERYONE!". As mentioned above, I've seen the rune RPed recently, which means it's not all bad, but for each one of those instances, there's a hundred more of the "kill all cultists on sight". Traitors are probably the hardest to nail down. The rules as it stands allow them to be killed on sight for anything. I recall yesterday the Head of Security murdered a person for being near a sequencer, when they actually didn't use it and it was someone else's. So, as one person stated in another thread I believe, it leads to a go big or hide in the shadows mentality for traitors. I see it rendering every single player a possible threat to the traitor, and thus more likely to be killed if that person so much as sees anything happen. Then there are the people that genuinely try to RP as a traitor and get shot down... literally. Of course this is basically preaching to the choir. As Adr has said more than once, the ones that validhunt don't ever really come to the forum for anything other than unban appeals. I think the only difference is that everyone may have a different approach to handling things. I do remember when there was a higher RP standard on Paradise, and it's unfortunate it slipped over time due in part to so many people. I would like to see it return, but it would need a concerted effort between staff and players to make it happen. And I think that's the problem. Until you start defining valid hunting, which I believe is being done now, no real change can happen.
  3. You guys are bastards. And that's why I missed you horrible people.
  4. Gee, this format looks awfully familiar. I see what you did here. That being said, you may as well stay away from every electrical source ever, and run from all the wizards you see. If you want a challenge, RoboShield is definitely a challenge, and I commend taking it on.
  5. ZAS was enjoyable for the explosive decompression effects. Now you can blow a hole in a room, take a minute to put on internals, and still walk away with zero injuries. There's no danger to it, on a server where danger is kind of around every turn... other than that turn into space. I agree with Neca that that's the experience of being in space. Anything less isn't really space. Then there's the air alarm problem. A room can be breached for several minutes before it actually shows up, which is problematic in, say, a meteor storm.
  6. This... is actually a sort of interesting idea. Rev is always a terrible mode, but that's largely because it's Rev vs Command/Sec, so it goes instantly bloodbath. Of course, we're still working one mode into the game now through play testing, but I think this wouldn't really be a terrible thing for the server. Can't be any worse than Rev or Rev 2.0 Mutiny.
  7. Personally, I tend to be the only Pod Pilot that actually plays on most rounds during the day it seems. I have only seen one other on one round the last couple days. The hardsuit has bugged me. While useful, the pilot's job isn't really "Space Enforcer" as much as a sort of recon and maybe rapid response. Given that there's a passenger seat for the pod, it can move an actual officer into a place. I am getting slightly off topic, but I do like the idea of an actual flight softsuit and helmet that has at least vacuum protection. The helmet, however, should not act as a mask. There's a security gas mask for that and, if we go with a basic flight helmet, would look like the helmet link of a modern pilot. Then a regular flight suit uniform would look better. The Blueshield and NT Rep get special uniforms. Of course, all this would need spriting, as stated already, which is not something I can do. I will throw in at least and say that a flight suit at least for the pilot would make them stand out a bit more, which means the Pod Pilot may get a bit more attention. As I said, it's probably the least played karma job (other than Barber). Just, please no Star Wars orange jumpsuit. The Imperial pilot is far superior.
  8. Name: Klara Trovato Age: 42 Gender: Female Race: Tajaran Ethnicity: Zhan-Khazan Blood Type: O+ Home System: Sol Citizenship: Mars Faction: NanoTrasen Religion: Catholic Mental Status: Stable Physical Status: Active Background: Klara was born on Mars to a Tajaran who had fled Adhomai. Reasons for this remain unknown. When she was young, her mother married a human business owner. To say the living arrangement was unusual would be putting it lightly. Her mother still had a heavy adherence to Tajaran culture, though Klara saw it as pointless and outdated, as she looked around Mars and decided it was only a backward lifestyle which needed replacing. Being one of the only Tajara on Mars, she found her childhood to be rather stressful, with no one to really befriend which wasn't at least somewhat distrustful of Tajara. As a result, Klara and her stepsister Luca grew closer, and the two at least kept the other in check until they graduated from secondary school. By 18, Klara had joined NanoTrasen as she wanted to explore the galaxy in some form, while working for an established corporation. She had expected her sister to join with her, but was disappointed to see Luca working for Sol Central, a fact which would drive a rift between the two as Klara suspected that she'd be untrustworthy in the future. See 'Employment Records' for further information. Employment Records: Qualifications and Certifications: - Weapons Professional - Trained in Close Combat - Trained in Forensics - Trained in NanoTrasen Law - Trained in Command - Trained in Heavy Machinery Operation (Combat Mech Specialization) - Trained in Medicine - Trained in Anatomy Employment Records: Since joining the corporation, Klara has had a meritorious service. After an initial rotation through various jobs in her early days as she received forensic training, she was quick to adjust to the role of a detective and was not one to stand by idly as a station was threatened. That was what rapidly jumped her from Detective to Head of Security by saving and protecting a Captain, when the Blueshield of the day was unable to do so. This action brought her a promotion, which she really didn't want at the time, and some minor recognition. Due to her actions in protecting a captain, Klara was trained as a Blueshield, a job which she does solely due to proficiency in wrangling heads of staff and ensuring their survival above all else. Security Records: By and large, Klara has a clean security record, with only a few blemishes. She#39s had altercations with Security as a Blueshield for being hot headed and quick to harm, performing illegal actions in defense of her heads of staff. Medical Records: Mostly fit and healthy, Klara has lost her right arm and right leg, having them replaced with robotic prostheses. She received a new, mechanical heart after extensive damage to her chest caused her natural one to cease functioning. Her eyes were replaced with mechanical eyes after another accident on the job, one which involved a screwdriver and telekinesis, and a least one rather painful #34prank#34 by her stepsister Luca. Otherwise she#39s as healthy as a Tajaran woman can get at her age. Klara has been noted on records, for quite a while, as being a known vampire and actively working with NanoTrasen due to the fact she can keep herself in check, which appears to be a relative rarity. Unlike many, she keeps thirst in check most of the time, which causes a falling off of her abilities during that period. She remains as no threat as she is not driven by the need for blood. Mental Evaluation: While mentally stable, Klara has a particular hatred of the Unathi for currently unknown reasons, or at least reasons that she will not share. She is also known for having a negative disposition toward other Tajarans, seeing them as freeloaders and lazy. Typically shrugs off generally racist remarks, but is known to threaten violence for more overt and hostile remarks directed at her. Family: Klara has a single, older sister and is the second oldest member of the Trovato family. She has no children, as she has never married. 9. Name: Luca Aureliana Trovato Preferred Name: Trovato, Baroness Trovato Age: 43 Gender: Female Race: Vulpkanin Ethnicity: Martian Blood Type: B- Home System: Sol Citizenship: Mars Faction: Sol Central Religion: Catholic Mental Status: Stable Physical Status: Active Background: Luca was born in the Cydonia region of Mars to a relatively wealthy family. Her biological mother died during the childbirth, leaving Luca with just her biological father. Only a few years later, when Luca was 4, her father remarried a Tajaran woman. Luca's education was relatively average, but her family situation showed more tolerance of non-humans, something unusual among humans from so close to the very homeworld of humanity. Luca graduated with average marks at age 18, and enlisted in Sol Central's peacekeeping arm; specifically the Naval aspect. Going for Officer Training School, Luca was accepted (barely) and after a two year program received a commission as an Ensign and placed into one of the fighter wings, which she had trained for. For the next four years, she distinguished herself as a highly capable pilot, even though she had few actual combat operations. Nonetheless, with approximately 14 confirmed kills, she was distinguished as an Ace. After four years, Luca left service as a Lieutenant, returning to Mars for several months. She joined NanoTrasen at the encouragement of her stepsister Klara, if only to get her back into the workforce. Luca applied to the Emergency Response Teams with the hope of being able to continue helping others. She was denied, primarily on the grounds of ERT suits not being built for non-humans, but was nonetheless offered a position of Security Pod Pilot, a new role on NanoTrasen stations. She accepted. Known to semi-seriously call herself the 'Baroness of Cydonia', given that she is one of the only people to live in that region of Mars. See 'Employment Records' for further information. Employment Records: Qualifications and Certifications: - Sol Central Certified Fighter Mechanic - Combat Pod Operation Professional - Combat Fighter Operation Professional - Trained in Weapons (Small Arms Specialization) - Trained in Close Quarters Combat - Trained in Heavy Equipment Operation - Trained in Space Law - Trained in Extra-vehicular Activity Degrees: - Master of Law Employment Records: Luca's employment with Nanotrasen began at age 26 after a career with Sol Central. Encouraged by her sister to bring military experience to the corporation, Luca applied. Her ability as a pilot was noted, and she was brought into the corporation to work as a pilot on the Cyberiad. In the year that she has worked on the station, Luca has distinguished herself primarily as an operator that follows procedure, but disagrees most of the time with her superiors if matters tend to break law and SOP. Due to extended service to the corporation, and excellent conduct while employed, Luca Trovato was promoted to NanoTrasen Representative. Her conduct in such a role has extended her contract to allow her to act as Captain of the Cyberiad. Known to semi-seriously call herself the 'Baroness of Cydonia', given that she is one of the only people to live in that region of Mars. Following 21 years of employment with NanoTrasen, Luca Trovato has retired from service with the corporation. Security Records: While no criminal records exist, it's worth noting that she can have a temper when forced into a situation where she is being ignored when relaying vital information. Rarely, if ever, violent, the temper may still cause some legal issues. Medical Records: Luca is generally very healthy. A few scars exist under the fur due to short military service and the minor wounds suffered there. No signs of disease or conditions are present. Believed to have an addiction to painkillers, though this cannot be confirmed. Known to have an allergy to cats (Tajarans included). Known to hate the Vox. After a short bout of blindness, Luca's eyes were replaced with mechanical eyes. Mental Evaluation: Luca's mental state is rated as stable. There are no known mental issues noted, and no reason to suspect the development of them. Of note, however, is a distrust of all synthetics, and a deep hatred of the Vox. Psychologist is recommended to investigate the root cause, but it's of low priority. Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]:
  10. Most normal rounds as Virologist I usually find things to do. A normal round for me consists of mutating viruses, isolating symptoms onto disks, and making horribly lethal (or horribly useful) diseases that will never see the light of day because viruses have the mutation chance and things are just no fun after that. On the off chance virus outbreak random event occurs, I am generally prepared to handle an outbreak before it gets really out of hand. Unlike most virologists. Really it's a semi-AFK job when it comes down to it, like most of the isolated jobs such as Xenoarch or Xenobio. It is what you make it. I do like the medical ward out in front though, it gives a feeling of a real outbreak when/if it actually gets used for containment and such.
  11. And then this happens. Every round.
  12. Name: Kyla Rio Age: 66 Gender: Female Race: Tajaran Blood Type: AB+ General Occupational Role(s): - Magistrate Biography: Born in the Sol System to Tajarans fleeing from Adhomai, and ended up dead shortly after arrival on Earth, Kyla grew up on her own for the most part. She was adopted by several families over time, learning mostly human culture and ways of life. The few other Tajarans that she met gave her at working knowledge of Siik'Tajr, and she returned that with knowledge of Common. Her educated varied over time, but gave her the absolute basics of what she needed to get somewhere in life. At age 18, with a rudimentary education, she joined NanoTrasen for the opportunities of getting somewhere; mostly a proper education. She joined the corporation as a chemist, having shown basic knowledge in that, and grew steadily into the role. Her further education was paid for as she kept working, and eventually had an equivalency to a standard human education. As she grew in experience, she branched out in regular medical work, followed by a typical shift Chief Medical Officer by the time she reached age 30. At age 32, she encountered the heir to the Rio businesses and married them a few years afterward at age 34. In doing so, she gained a large amount of hatred from her husband's family due to the human-Tajaran marriage. At this time she became stepmother to Luca Rio, who was less than a year old. A little over a year later, she gave birth to Klara Rio, an event that was hardly talked about for multiple reasons. . Regardless of the new wealth, Kyla continued to live and work as normally as before while raising a family in her off time. By present day, at age 66 and following the death of her husband's parents, she's the current matriarch of the Rio family, a position of prestige, at least to her considering what she started out as. Qualifications: - Space Law - Criminal Proceedings - Engineering Expertise - Robotics Expertise - Command Training - Weapons Handling Training Employment Records: Kyla Rio's employment as a Chemist initially was weighed heavily due to lack of formal education. She only was accepted due to enough knowledge to at least keep a medbay intact and running, especially with a second chemist working with her. Eventually showing enough aptitude with that, she was allowed to train and perform as a medical doctor and surgeon in emergencies, in which she learned most of the skills required of her as she was promoted to Chief Medical Officer some time later. Tired of working with medicine and wanting to branch out, at age 35 she accepted a position as an Engineer aboard various NanoTrasen stations. Her aptitude in the physical role that was Engineering eventually brought her up to Chief Engineer. While nothing of note occurred to her in this role, she eventually was able to progress further, started with experiments within the assembly line on the NCS Cyberiad. Intrigued with the possibilities, she applied to work as a Roboticist, wanting to tinker with machines and cyborgs, learning how they worked, and of course using the large military grade mechs that were at her disposal if she had the materials. That was inspired by Hawke Boetirson, whom was her Research Director most of her shifts as a Roboticist. NanoTrasen notes this was likely not a good influence. Bored with the monotonous work that was Engineering and Robotics, she resigned her position for a time to go into a deep study of space law and other legal related matters. She was rehired following the education, serving as a station Magistrate for NanoTrasen, a role she enjoys given accounts from her family regarding the status of Security any given shift. Previous Occupations: In Order from First to Most Recent: - Chemist - Medical Doctor/Surgeon - Chief Medical Officer - Engineer/Chief Engineer - Roboticist - Magistrate Security Records: Kyla's security record is entirely clean, with no blemishes in the slightest. She has a marked hostility toward people that break the law, however, and tends to respond in extreme, though rarely breaking the law in doing so. Medical Records: Kyla's medical records remain in good standing, with no real medical issues to deal with. Unlike others of her family, she has little in the way of mechanical parts due to rarely being in combat. During a particularly heated shift as Magistrate, however, she was caught in an explosion where she lost her hand; it being replaced with a robotic prosthesis. Otherwise there are a few marks from injuries sustained as an engineer and roboticist while working from mistakes being made. Mental Evaluation: Unlike much of her family, Kyla's mental status is stable. She has some issues handling stress, but is highly determined and doesn't tend to back down if she is in the right, even if it begins to undermine a trust she builds with coworkers. The only Tajaran trait that she still retains is that of loyalty to those she cares about and the friends she makes along the way. Family: Kyla is the matriarch of the Rio family. Other than her unknown husband, her daughters Luca and Klara are the most important family that she has, seeing Luca as her own despite her being a stepdaughter. By extension, she also holds Si'Makra Rio-Hadar close as family, considering him a son despite only being related by law and marriage. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Standing a little over six feet tall, Kyla remains upright and with an average build despite her advanced age. She has blue eyes that show signs of age and wear. She her hair pulled back into a braid, a style she's kept for many years. The advanced age shows in her face, with the extra grey hairs, on top of her already grey fur, as well as other typical signs of aging. Regardless, despite being 66, she has enough strength left in her to carry herself and act without requiring assistance in any form. 13. Name: Luca Rio Age: 32 Gender: Female Race: Human Blood Type: B- General Occupational Role(s): - Emergency Response Team Leader - Chief Engineer - Blueshield - Virologist Biography: Luca was born on Earth to a relatively wealthy family, though by no means among the social elite. Her mother died when she was young and, defying societal customs at the time, her father remarried one of the few Tajarans in the Sol System. From her childhood and on, she got a small taste of Tajaran culture and learned Siik'tajr from her stepmother. She and Klara were known for using the language among each other to keep their peers from knowing what they were talking about. During this time she grew a fondness for the alien races of the galaxy, particularly Tajarans, as well as an all around far more open mindset. While much of Sol was very much pro-humanity, Luca chose an understanding approach, and gladly spoke up against the xenophobia and racism. This was only slightly ineffective as, while she loved Tajarans and Unathi, she has a deep hatred of slime people, Vox, and Kidan. In terms of education, Luca was hardly an excellent student. She slid by in school with minimal grades. Upon graduation, this affected her in the sense that the only real career option she had left was joining the military, which she did gladly. While she could have received an education, she turned it down and focused on her job. During the uneventful military deployment, Luca got at least basic military training. Once she was out, Klara convinced her to join NanoTrasen. Qualifications: - Command Training - Heavy Weapons Handling - Small Arms Training - Engineering Training Employment Records: Luca was hired onto NanoTrasen at the age of 22 after she left the military based around her home system, Sol. She was pressed into joining by her sister Klara Rio and, with prior military experience, was thrown right into the Emergency Response Team. Luca worked in this role for about eight years, taking on any number of fights and encountering most of the enemies that NanoTrasen is confronted with at any given time, ranging from blobs to xenomorphs and revolutionaries. After eight years doing this and taking surprisingly few injuries, she was pressed, again, into working as a Blueshield by her sister Klara, who is a Lieutenant and decided to show a bit of nepotism in getting her into that job. Capable, and using her military training, Luca showed prowess in the role. She only stepped down from the permanent posting following a series of events one shift that prevented her ability to work and caused her to step down. Capitalizing on training that she had, Luca was accepted as a Chief Engineer aboard NanoTrasen stations and given a crash course education in the operations of the department and how to operate all the engines without causing catastrophic failures. Of course this is sometimes impossible depending on the competancy of the engineers. The end of her employment came with the destruction of her body during a shift as Research Director. For all intents and purposes she was the target of a multi-pronged assassination attempt meant to take her down. It was successful, and a bureaucratic error resulted in Central Command cloning backup to be non-existant. Previous Occupations: In Order from First to Most Recent: - Emergency Response Team (Member, then Lead) - Blueshield - Chief Engineer - Virologist Security Records: Luca boasts a mostly clean security and criminal record, with no real, major offenses other than "accidentally" teleporting one of her employees into space. While not outright commiting crimes, Luca has has altercations with Security when she released diseases that caused Kingston Syndrome, turning entire crews into Tajarans in the name of "science". Medical Records: As far as the average human goes, Luca is perfectly healthy. Her right arm, while fragile, remains in good working order. Her mechanical eyes remain intact, though require occasional tweaking to keep them functioning at best. The pacemaker on her heart is about the only negative effect, though it hasn't killed her yet when it gets destroyed from any number of EMP sources. Only thing of note is, following a corporate unapproved experiment by a NanoTrasen doctor aboard the NCS Cyberiad, Luca has attained vampiric ability, though without the typical effects that being a vampire carries. She has no lust for blood, and thus no abilities, and isn't a bluespace entity. Loyalty implants still affect her, as such. Mental Evaluation: Luca's mental stability is high, with no real issues. Only thing that the corporate notes is a particular "xenophilia", as it is being termed. With her marriage to a Tajaran, her stability was called into question. She is known to have a particuolar sentiment toward Tajarans and Unathi. Her respect of Vox, however, died off after a situation involving them. Family: Luca's family, that she makes known, mostly works for NanoTrasen. Her sister, Klara, is a Blueshield Lieutenant and probably the most highly advanced of her family within the corporation. Her stepmother Kyla, now retired, once worked as a Roboticist and Chief Engineer up until she was 70 years old. Her marriage to Vexenn Noms was rendered null and void following the return of Noms' previous wife and the lack of official papers. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Standing six feet tall with her black hair pulled back into her usual ponytail, Luca's facial features are largely average, though her red eyes stand out the most. Her right arm is missing from years in the ERT, a war wound she doesn't mind showing. All other features on her are average and nothing is quite remarkable. 14. Took these from me :V Idea was NT Rep gets a pigeon that you can put a paper on and have it drop it at a desk somewhere. Like, direct to the captain, or direct to IAA rather than having to wait on the fax machine to realign. Probably impractical, but it was an amusing idea to me so the Rep wasn't entirely left out. As for the wolf, a sort of guard dog the Blueshield can take with them. Not sure how it could be coded, but if Greyshirt McCrowbar decides to slap the Captain with the aforementioned crowbar, the wolf would go after them immediately. And of course defend itself from attacks. Maybe base it on the mindrole code a bit? It could be a fluffy ED-209 for heads and VIPs. Obviously would need a second officer's beret to put on the wolf of course. Otherwise I think Head of Security's best pet would be a German Shepherd just because it's your stereotypical police dog. At least it's better than Araneus. Oh the stories I have of dragging Araneus through the halls of a station. Hell, maybe not even JUST Head of Security. It could be a Security mascot on its own, sort of like E-N is Science's in some sense. Also brought up was giving the captain a pet fox. Why a fox? Why the hell not? I would recommend a cat as a sort of Ship's Cat, but then there's Runtime already. Granted this one is slightly inspired from Urist McStation where the Captain has a fox as a pet (Renault is the best pet). Of course all of this would require spriting and probably coding, but if I get the time I'd gladly try to sprite it a bit, just to see how it turns out and if it's usable.
  15. I disagree entirely, but this isn't the place, so I'll keep it short. Captain isn't security. Captain shouldn't act like security. Captain should sit in his office. If he is playing crime fighter, someone or something really fucked up.
  16. I am inclined to agree with this actually. A second Blueshield would ease a lot of burden off one person, but there's a flipside to that. If you have competant heads of staff then a single Blueshield can keep an eye on everyone because everyone won't be fucking off to play Super CaptainCop or something. They'll do their jobs and not take risks. With a second Blueshield, especially with the implementation of ambassadors at some point, things would be easier, particularly when there are bad heads of staff (always). Adding them into the office would be fairly easy too. Remove the closet and crew monitor (or move them), add in another desk to make a T, add a locker and a rack and a chair on the opposite side. Maybe not perfect, but it would sort of work. Maybe.
  17. Most of the blueshields I've seen inevitably end up being super cop, med sun glasses to lure them away from the sec HuDs can only be a good thing. When I play, I hardly even use the Medical HUD anymore (because of the flashes that people love to use on me), and just stick to regular sunglasses. Sec HUD can be nice, but ultimately unnecessary. If you're doing Sec's job, you're not doing the Blueshield job. But with that being said... Why not a blue colored Medglasses, rather than the Sec Red? Really the medical HUD on its own shouldn't be flash proof, given it's a fairly transparent HUD over one eye, not both. Sort of impractical to make it flashproof if it shouldn't realistically be so. Also, because I was writing this, did the minor tweak to an idea of what I had in mind.
  18. Name: Klara Rio Age: 30 Gender: Female+ Race: Tajaran Blood Type: O+ General Occupational Role(s): - Blueshield Lieutenant Biography: Despite being Tajaran, Klara was born and raised in human space among humans. As such, she adopted most of the mannerisms of the humans she lived with and around, and a more human sounding name to separate herself from the rest of her kind. Though she is fluent in Siik'Tajr, she resents its use. Early on she had an interest in the sciences as they continually advanced and progressed, and wanting to, in her words "be on the forefront of technological advancement". She was recruited into NanoTrasen when she was 17 and has worked various odd jobs while getting special education. She was turned down for a Scientist position, despite it being what she had wanted to do, and instead received forensic training. Qualifications: - Command Training - Security Training - Forensic Training - Weapons Training - Basic Engineering Knowledge - Basic Medical Knowledge - Basic Surgical Knowledge Employment Records: Since joining the corporation, Klara has had a meritorious service. After an initial rotation through various jobs in her early days as she received forensic training, she was quick to adjust to the role of a detective and was not one to stand by idly as a station was threatened. That was what, rapidly, jumped her from Detective to Head of Security by saving and protecting a Captain. Her service as Head of Security was typically very eventful, dealing with various threats both internal and external and gathering the prejudices and lessons that shaped her current career. Eventually she reached a level of Captaincy due to her achievements, and as such settled down into a more stable role. After some time she was chosen as a candidate for the Blueshields, and rapidly rose to become a Lieutenant. She still does odd jobs on the NCS Cyberiad, but focuses primarily on the jobs that brought her to her current level within the corporation. There are rumors that Klara is feared among the xenomorph hives, though all rumors are unconfirmed. Previous Occupations: In Order from First to Most Recent: - Cargo Technician - Security Officer - Detective - Head of Security - Captain - Blueshield Security Records: All around Klara has a clean security record aside from minor incidents and an "attempted murder" charge after shooting an officer with a shotgun during her initial rotation. Any other crimes have been whitewashed or pardoned due to minor faults or proper corporate service. Medical Records: Mostly fit and healthy, Klara has lost her right arm and right leg, having them replaced with robotic prostheses. She received a new, mechanical heart after extensive damage to her chest caused her natural one to cease functioning. Her eyes were replaced with mechanical eyes after another accident on the job. Otherwise she's as healthy as a Tajaran woman can get at her age. Klara has been noted on records, for quite a while, as being a known vampire and actively working with NanoTrasen due to enjoyment of employment. Unlike many, she keeps thirst in check most of the time, which causes a falling off of her abilities during that period. Mental Evaluation: While mentally stable, Klara has a particular hatred of the Unathi for currently unknown reasons, or at least reasons that she will not share. Typically shrugs off generally racist remarks, but is known to threaten violence for more overt and hostile remarks directed at her. Family: Only known family - the only family she'll admit to having - are all also employed by NanoTrasen in various roles. Her biological mother, Kyla Rio, works chiefly as a Roboticist on various stations. Her stepsister, Luca Rio, works as a Virologist and is a former Chief Engineer, and a Blueshield before that. She is recently married to Si'Makra, a fellow Tajaran. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Standing just under five and a half feet tall, Klara is hardly intimidating for a person of her standing and experience. Were she to remove her uniforms, she'd show seemingly countless scars on her body from the fights she was in and the actions she partook in over the many years working for NanoTrasen. She keeps herself neatly groomed though, covering up the worst of the scars and maintaining an excellent appearance overall. One thing that stands out from the clean appearance she keeps are blue silks around her tail as part of Tajaran culture, signifying a marriage. Tajaran Tweaks

The claws were that very thought really. As I said, 3:20 in the morning and thoughts weren't all there, I was just throwing a few thoughts that I had partially worked out and seeing how it was received. Really I wasn't aiming for a specific niche, just trying to make cats a bit more like cats I guess.
  20. This was just sort of some thoughts that came to mind this morning. I was thinking about the Tajaran and looking over different racial things for the non-karma locked races, and thought about maybe a couple things to add on to make the cats more, well, cat-like rather than the thickly furred humans they seem to be like. Let me just say it's 3:10 am right now, so these probably aren't nearly as coherent as they could be. 1.) Retractable Claws Just a thought, and probably impossible/difficult to code, but I guess first and foremost would be a sort of work around from the gloves in a way that balances (sort of). As I said, more cat-like was what I was aiming for, and I figure this could be one of the higher up things among that. Way I am thinking of it would be, perhaps, when they're extended gloves can't be worn normally, but while retracted they can be, but they can't be extended with gloves on. Probably a pointless idea, but sort of a way to get around accidental scratching and the damage that it could cause unintentionally. 2.) Passive Leap Sort of like the Vox, but weaker. The description for the Vox leap does say (roughly) "Gibberish-x leaps aggressively at Greytide McGriffin". So my thought is something like that, but without necessarily being aggressive by nature. With a chance of missing entirely and going rolling across the floor of course, because it can still be amusing to watch that. This thought comes to mind mostly because Security is ending up half Tajaran half the time and being able to leap could make them more efficient. Of course, the flip-side on this is griefers having easier access to such a thing and jumping at people, but that's part of why I mentioned a chance of missing. Anyway, that's really all that came to mind and I'd like some feedback, if only to tell me that I should get to sleep and stop trying to come up with things.
