Just because you didn't get a response from the admin doesn't mean it wasn't handled. Sometimes admins are too busy to respond to everything, it's more important to actually deal with the rule breaking that is happening than it is to respond to everyone about it. Even if you saw the accused player in later rounds it doesn't mean it wasn't handled. Players will usually get a warning for first time offenses, bans usually only come from repeat behavior and/or simply the person being combative with the admin instead of accepting responsibility for what they did wrong. Don't let a lack of response deter you from reporting things. Admins can't fix it if they don't know about it. I feel like I should just add this quote in my signature cuz I repeat it frequently; while admins are capable of seeing everything, they are not omnipresent. They can only look at one thing at a time, and some stuff takes more digging than others.

@Benjaminfallout we need to lead the charge on a new breed of vox who shame their fellow vox for making them look bad instead of defending everything they do no matter how bad it is.

Not saying it didn't get handled, just saying I didn't get any confirmation it was even being looked at. I'm not going into ahelps and admins here. That's a whole other kettle of fish and I'd like to keep this on topic as best as possible

The first one seems worthy of a player complaint all by its lonesome. The last I've seen happy many times, and not always by vox. Really just any pair of IC friends. As I've done it myself before, and have been helped by it, I suppose I am part of the problem there.

Thing is the two players that got beaten to death were clearly new to the server. They went into the box without internals ?

  3. I'm not really here to talk about Vox from a mechanical standpoint. Just purely of recent behavior of certain Vox players. I can't say I have any solutions other then more scrutiny. But that's something only we as a playerbase can do.

  4. So this is something I want to get off my chest. It's been a point of contention for me and I feel it's at the point where it needs to be discussed among the player base.

Vox are becoming more regular among the crew as more people have attained the Karma needed to purchase them and with that "Vox Clique" has became an issue that isn't really being addressed. In the past two weeks I've witnessed:

    • A group of vox beating non-vox into crit for entering a vox box (All non-antags, I ahelped but it was 30 seconds before the shuttle arrived and I got no reply from an admin on the matter)
    • A Blueshield Vox abandon their duty to protect the Command staff and elected to help an assistant Vox who has some minor burns and a fractured foot while the Captain was dead 3 tiles away, being stripped by an Atmos Tech (The Atmos Tech was me removing the hardsuit to defib the Captain, had I been an antag I could of looted him with ease)
    • I've seen a Vox be arrested only for the officer conducting to the arrest be pushed over by a pair of other Vox (The pair being non-antags)

Instances like these, as well as other smaller instances, are becoming more prevalent and honestly I feel its getting dangerously close to meta-friend territory. I understand that Vox have a strong bond, I have a Vox myself - I get it. But with that being said that doesn't give a free pass to start self-antagging because "MUH KINSIES!!1".

I totally understand why "Vox are Pox" is a thing now. But I want to hear other views on the matter.

  5. Security is always a problem. If you try to RP as an officer the powergamers will kill you mid-sentence and space your corpse because they only care about greentexting. If you match them and go for the kill, you get bitched at in deadchat for "Powergaming sec". It's a situation you can't feasibly win and is infuriating to deal with, especially with that as well as greytide, cliques and officers being idiots. I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 robust players who will actually RP while antags.

  6. Name of Event: Fashion Police

One Sentence Description: The Fashion Police think that the NSS Cyberiad's crew are long overdue for a makeover.

    Map Changes: No

Any of the shuttles can be used to get the Fashion Police to the station; the Trader shuttle is probably best.

    Code Changes: No*

Suggested Number of Players: Could be feasible in low pop but would be better with higher population. Preferably midround.

    Full Description of Event:

Similarly to Abductors, the Fashion Police has a list of crew that need a make over. Their Ship (The Trader ship can be used) has lockers with garish haute couture that the designated crew are to be restrained and dressed with. The Fashion police are armed with "Fabulous Batons" (See below*), Fluffy cuffs and maybe additional equipment such as a Glitter Grenade (Again see below*)

Its an RP event with little aggressive/killing people from the Fashion Police, probably a healthy amount of Zoolander quotes thrown in for good measure. Once the fashion police have given makeovers to the designated crew they can leave the station. Naturally the crew and security will be apprehensive about a group of fashionable mercenaries abducting and forcibly giving make overs to the crew and so the is good opportunities for some RP shenanigans.

I'd love to hear anyone else's ideas towards this and get some feedback.

*With regards to the unique equipment I'm not fully sure of the extent that admins can VV items. If its possible to spawn a telebaton, rename it to "Fabulous Baton", increase its knockdown time so that the victim can be restrained and even spawn confetti when it connects with someone (Oh hit effect?) then I think this could not require any code change and can be purely adminbussed. Like with the baton hopefully additional equipment can also be adminbussed in. If an admin could weigh in with what is and isn't feasible that'd be great.

  7. I don't understand how "Having the crew turn on you and valid you" can be considered fun by any measure. If the cluwne had some powers like superfart, vomitting lube and maybe eventually exploding after a minute or two then I can see it. Then your basically those kamikaze bombers from Serious Sam.

  8. Yeah these are the "Strange Objects" found in maint, that when put through the experimentor become a useable device with varying effects.

Best ones are the ones that launch critters. There's an odd catharsis to firing a pug at the HoS and then watching them work out if they can claim assault charges for it

It used to give some (10%?) of the people the "survive" objective.

Thats actually the reason I stopped playing YogStation; give a handful of players free reign to murderbone. Be one of the players that didn't get the objective and get bwoinked for defending yourself. Jesus it was a dumb idea.

I always thought wizards were too overt. I know stealth wizards can be a thing but its hardly ever done. I'd love to see wizard be more of a "puppetmaster" making the crew fight each other, inciting greytide, causing chaos among the crew. Also it allows for more RP which never happens in wizard rounds (aside from that one time Ipsum RP'd as a wizard because he was tired of people making fun of him)

The very concept that the uninfluenced crew would be unaware that they are being toyed with by a magician sounds more inline with "magic" than fireballs and frost novas to me. Things like:

    • Casting a spell on the HoS to make them hallucinate the clown is attacking them
    • Casting a spell that makes the bomb beeping sound near the bridge to freak out the Captain
    • Conjuring illusions of Xenos in maint and waiting for someone to stumble across them
    • Taking over another player (like a Borer) and making them start a fight to make them look deranged or insane
    • Conjuring fake food or drink that set people on fire/poisons people when they consume it.
    • Conjuring a medkit mimic that, once opened, explodes

Maybe the wizard could see who has eligible antag on and recruit/coerce them into murdering the HoP, stealing all-access etc. to further cause chaos and disarray

  10. There's a few problems with this method mainly around the fact that these crewmembers are basically unreachable. Nothing is worse than having to kill a shift miner who is never on the station for very long, having to kill a gateway explorer that's comfortably building away in a nice little colony world would be a nightmare.

I had my own ideas for the gateway, maybe I'll get round to make a post of my own. Eventually. Maybe...

  11. This is a hypothetical plot and one that requires an incredibly specific set of circumstances but still.

    • Have objective to kill the Chaplain.
    • Mindslave someone or have another tator assist you
    • Make a pair of sawn off pipe shotguns loaded with slug rounds
    • Tell the Chaplain you and your accomplice want to get married.
    • Have the wedding, forget to mention it's a shotgun wedding
    • Both you and your buddy blast the Chaplain at the same time.

    Medical.

Get good at medical. Save peoples lives. Have good bedside manner.

Last time I gave karma it was to an assistant who, unlike all the doctors in medbay, realised I was hooked up to an anesthetic tank.....as a Vox and that I needed a blood transfusion.

I was defibbed 16 times that round.

However, such a character can make people think you're not taking the role seriously - which is not what I've seen at all. But I can see why people think that. There have been many examples of captains taking their gimmicks too far.

I feel it very much boils down to this. It's a fine line between having a gimmick and being a memer. I remember once there was a "Cat Detective" complete with cat tail and ears who spent the entire shift laying in a dog bed in central primary hallway hissing and meowing at passersby. The did no detective work the whole round.

Now, if they had actually done their job while doing quirky things (Hissing at the scanner when it prints a log, sitting on a table in processing, pouncing on Vox players etc) it would of been fine. It's striking a balance between doing the job and making it entertaining to watch.

  14. When I first started I actually used the Assistant role as intended and asked the HoP if I could work for a department. That way you don't take up a slot for that roles and you get to learn the mechanics. Some people will be all meta and say no because they'll think you're an antag trying to get access to your target or whatever. But conversely others will love teaching new people.

I wouldn't recommend it for jobs that have a specific tool or resource that is in limited quantity (Mining Hardsuits, Engineering Hardsuits etc) since chances are they are all taken. But this way I learned Robotics, RnD, Chef, Bartender

  15. I believe it was Tea who originally developed the voxxy dialect people picked it up since.

In Vox-Pidgin / :v they talk normally, though they refer to each other as kin

There's a lot of leeway in terms of how you go about voxxy talk

"I'm not feeling well" could be "Is feelings bads yaya" or "Voxxy not feeling goods" and still "sound" vox-like

  16. Security

    • Security skirting the law or even straight up break the law without consequence.
    • Security jumping the bar, thinking they own the place (I will still shoot you as bartender, unless you are actually here to investigate)
    • HoS players not taking the role seriously, breaking SoP and sometimes even Space Law without reprimand
    • Detectives who don't do their job
    • Detectives who don't do their job, while laying in a dog bed in the hallway hissing and meowing like a cat at passers by.....
    • Over Sentencing
    • Security using non-standard equipment without any clear reason other than "I want a baseball bat"
    • Security with Hulk without good reason
    • Security putting loaded weapons into Evidence/not disarming potential weapons
    • Wardens who claim they know Space Law but brig with bizarre charges and times ("Sabotaging the brig" =/= picking up metal rods and glass sheets)
    • Security who fire weapons down a crowded hallway (This should honestly be "Reckless Endangerment" and be subject to demotion)
    • Security who just want to ruin the antags day as fast as possible resulting in 90 minutes of extended

Security should be scrutinised a lot more not just ICly, this goes double for the HoS/Warden. There's a reason a lot of old sec players stopped playing and its not just the antags
