A regular player quickly accrues (on average) enough karma to buy everything thrice over.
You see, the fact that this topic has come up repeatedly, people's behavior in OOC, and my own personal experience all make me doubt this statistic.
Do you have logs that you could anonymize that prove this? Otherwise, this seems highly unlikely to me for any reasonable definition of "quickly"

I believe that the last community meeting confirmed that new races currently aren't being considered. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I also believe that it's been a longstanding rule that races that would require all of the clothing to be remade for them will also not be approved. I think they have to work with either the normal or vox clothes.

Getting away from adding a field to the system, I would like to ask a question.
What specific design goal does the Karma system serve?
If it's to ensure a minimum competency for things, then really only magistrate, blue shield and NT Rep need to be in there. Everyone else should be time based like normal jobs.
If it's to make sure that certain races don't become to common, then it no longer serves that purpose. A few days ago I played a round where 4 members of command were IPC's. At least half of all RD's seem to be Vox too. Several species (but these two in particular) are simply quite common.
What are we trying to do by keeping this divisive system that locks content, sometimes quite a lot of content (such as easier space exploration or pod shootouts) away from a significant portion of the player base?
Other than the three roles that I listed, what really needs karma?

Pretty much anything to fix Karma, which is a broken system that lends itself to all sorts of cliqueishness, etc would be welcome.
At the very minimum, I'd say prices generally need to be reduced by 2/3rds, and most races should be removed from the list. Leave only IPC, Plasmaman, and Vox.
I would also remove the option to disable round end karma reminders. Let everyone see a big old popup.

I really don't think that this is a good idea, especially for karma locked races.
Throwing in traitor items to racial balancing, which already causes a lot of Ill will isn't desirable imho.

Ion laws are randomly generated.

Supply and mining has its own door remote for the QM. But I would rather have the Supply Remote removed and added into the Civilian Door remote. The Command Remote has HOP office access, but I agree though with that.
I disagree. The QM needs a way to remotely open doors just like the pseudo-head that he is.

I'd agree, but do you have any specific ideas?

The one change I would make is making a war declaration automatically declare martial law so that if, for example, a janitor wants to go around mass-slipping people, or someone wants to go around stealing things, security can simply gun them down on the spot and keep on moving.
We already have a precedent for security getting pretty hardcore during Delta and Gamma alerts.
This might need to be coordinated via ahelps for each on the spot execution, but there's no possible IC excuse for the ridiculous graytiding that some people seem to get up to during a war ops round.

I really don't think we need any more races that can hang out in space more easily like the zombies can.
-
I'm pretty sure that this would require a massive amount of coding to be playable.

I think that limited knowledge for both antags and the crew would be useful.
I also think that we have a problem with people going out of their way to be converted. I think that an admin bwonking someone to say "You've been told that there's a cult around, yet you're a civilian alone deep in maintenance, what's your IC excuse?" is totally legitimate and something we should have more of.
I'm not going to stir up drama or name names, but we all know that there are certain people who seem to roll antag more than others. They're not somehow managing to be lucky round after round after round, that's not really mathematically possible. What they're actually doing is going well out of their way to be converted.

We kinda need a bigger map for highpop anyway. This will improve the highpop experience.

As a frequent surgeon, I disagree with this idea. It takes a player out of the round and leaves them staring at a mostly black screen for pretty much no reason, despite the possibility that they may be there for quite a while if they need several long surgeries, which Is quite common (think IB, heart, and ribcage repair, a very common combination.)
Also, surgeons may get dragged off somewhere (they're the target of an assasination, bomb explosion, etc) and then the poor patient has to wait a potentially very long time until someone saves them.
I'm all for increasing the level of RP, but I don't think this is the way to do it, especially not when we've literally got an all-access fridge full of medicine that people shove down their throats despite not being doctors.

This would be very useful. I don't talk in pic much during rounds, but It's too easy to almost hit it when you're in hotkey mode.

Sounds more like a lack of game knowledge to me.
