  2. One time, as a NT Rep., I was terribly bored (I believe it was an extended round and the departments didn't have any outstanding issues). I then decide to prank the Captain. Grab my stamp, paper and pen and viola, we have a approval of request for a HONK squad from "Central Command", and sent to the Captain's fax machine.

During that time, we have a xeno outbreak, and what does the Captain announce? For the crew to fight and hold off the xenos until the HONK squad from "Central Command" arrives.

We fight the xenos, removed them and then evacuate. During that time, I tell the Captain the HONK squad was a fake, he shows disbelief and relief at that very moment.

Nah the Lawyer title is fine because it's ambiguous in its allegiance. The Public Defender title squarely puts the Agent in the camp of the defendants which engenders specific expectations of the agent as well as declaring their mindset from the onset.

There isn't any clear specifications for Lawyer and Public Defender, besides technically, in some way, they have IAA responsibilities.

I can mostly see the Lawyer and Public Defender being mostly on the side of the Crew, as both jobs imply that they are there to defend someone during Security proceedings.

  4. I would say the same with Lawyer too, or, at the most, a different job, since public defender and Lawyer makes one assume they are defending a client, while IAA focus more on corporate regulations.

It also can be unclear to those new to the job if their responsibility, as a Public Defender/Lawyer, is the same to IAA (I even had ahelped it when I used to have the alt title of Lawyer).

  5. Some pet peeves I have (and see often during the shifts).

    • Janitors who clean up the hallways of blood and dirt, but not the random clutter (backpacks, clothes)
    • People who run up the HoP line the first few moments of the shift, starting to scream and bang on the windows for the HoP to come, while the HoP is getting ready.
    • Scientists that are wearing magboots, a bluespace belt and bag, with a full set of upgraded tools, and a gas mask.
    • People who use the radio to complain non-stop instead of talking to a IAA.
    • Glowshrooms that are outside of botany.
    • People who break into the gateway and disappearing into it without any prior notification, bonus points if they come back with contraband and complains that security has confiscated it.
    • People who do not do their job and just wanders about doing nothing.
    • Improperly preserved corpses in the morgue.
    • That one head that is complaining and wants the shuttle called, even though their department is running well or improvement can be easily done.
    • People who insist that touching a airlock multiple times will make it open for them, even though they don't have the access and it keeps buzzing at them.
    • People who calls airlocks doors.
    • People who go SSD/commit suicide at the start of the shift because they got a job they didn't want, bonus points if its Security, the QM, or a Command staff.
    • People who flips when you are talking to them, no matter if you are in a neutral mood or are upset.

  6. I agree that Space Law may require some tweaking and additions, but some of the suggestions are a bit too much.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

Crimes commited against a clown is legal

The Clown is technically a crew member, and this hinders the Clown greatly, especially if they are a target of a antag.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

Petty theft is now merged into robbery

Petty theft mostly refers to the theft of lowly department items (e.g. medkits, screwdrivers, beakers, etc.) while robbery mostly leans the theft of a item from a person (e.g. ID, pda, bag).

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

All drugs and anything to do with them are legal

Drugs can be deadly, and nothing can be done if a unassuming victim consumes or uses an item laced with a drug.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

Breaking and entering is now merged with major trespass

Both forms of Breaking and Entering (Regular area and restricted area) allows Security to confiscate the tools used in the actual, while trespass doesn't.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

Emotional Distress - Any insults or negative comments towards superiors in the individuals department only

I somewhat agree on this, as it doesn't improve morale, and often times, the one insulting is a troublemaking jerk (It's also annoying when the common channel is clogged with their crap). Though, I think a different name would be better and it being a Major crime is a bit too much.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

    Assault on an officer
    Kidnapping an officer

I think it's a bit too much, as it can land you in permabrig, and the fact that some officers and command staff (they fall in as officers too) can make a acting of battery into assault of a officer.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

Emotional Battery - Any insult or offensive terminology such as "Shitcurity" towards security

As much as I hate hearing the insultive terminology, it's a too much, it can land you in permabrig, execution, or forced cyborfication.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

Clown Misconduct - Primarly refers to clowns slipping with bananna's however soap does not apply.

Hinders the Clown a lot, and the possible sentences are very harsh. Clown using a banana to slip people is kind of expected of them, although they shouldn't be doing it in a emergency.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

EoC - Anyone who is an enemy of the corporation.

EoC actually used to be a Capital crime, but was most likely removed and made it's own section in order to prevent security to outright execute a antag that is shown to not be a threat under imprisonment.

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

Station Priority Misconduct - Anyone who disses or questions space

Some people (such as Magistrate, Head of Security or Captain) may have different views on Space Law, questioning those views is important to ensure that the use of Space Law doesn't cross the line (unless you have that kind of person who screams at you and think they have any power in processing...)

    1 hour ago, Buford said:

Securitism - Commiting two major or above major crimes against a security guard

While I also agree the regular crew shouldn't be taking time from Security while they are dealing with a serious matter, the possible sentences are too harsh.

In my opinion, I think Space Law should have a section that deals with greytide behavior more easily (such as hooliganism that Bay has in its own version of Space Law).

  7. When doing paperwork, I like to consider that I am doing it to keep records, on other occasions, I have it to make it tedious because I am evil make it so getting access isn't just some general or easy affair.

What reasons do you have in doing paperwork?

  8. As of the moment, Tajaran, Unathi and Vulpkanin have the same blood color as Human, while the other species have their own blood color.

My suggestion is that Unathi, Tajaran and Vulpkanin get their own blood color, in order to make them seem more alien.

  9. With the occasional testing of the new, stronger Atmos, it has lead to humorous to hindering outcomes, mostly on the crew forgetting about it.

    Do tell us your experience!

For me, as a deactivated Borg, one of the crew tried to haul me into robotics, before being sucked into a breach in toxins storage. After a short while they almost get me and themselves out, before someone walks by and gets sucked into, knocking them down. After two minutes and three more unfortunate crew, we finally got out.

  11. Granted, the economic system works so well, that the HoP ends up funneling all the money into a off station account before disappearing.

I wish Science had other types of research available instead of blowing up or RnD.

  12. When I first started to use paperwork, I first started to use the wiki's examples, later one, customizing my paperwork to differentiate it. As I started to plague give the station paperwork, I soon realized two things: One, most applicants tend to not know what spots to fill, and, Two, adding a section of "Terms and Condition" helps in notifying the applicant what they are expected of or, if they are the sort that don't read the Terms and Conditions, make the applicant lose something or be forced to do something.

Here are some basic paperwork that a HoP may regularly use! (NOTE: Replace any <> with brackets [ ])
