  1. I mean, having to kill your IC friend/wife/husband/ex is /great/ for RP.  Because you can interact and not do it wordlessly. Make up some context. "You know how I said I sorted the money problems we had? Yeah it isn't handled and They want me to do this..." blah blah. Sometimes having an established character do criminal things is good.

  2. People don't like change, sometimes you just have to get through it.

As for R&D not having the answers to everything now, that's great. The station shouldn't have an easy peasy way of beating the antags in the majority of cases. The bonuses that science gives the rest of the station are being viewed a necessary items to have, and not useful upgrades. Removing that mindset might well be required in order to make any alterations palatable.

  3. I have heard, before, that people do specifically late-join to avoid being antag targets, which is something to consider.

I think we might need some fresh objectives, too. The current ones are a bit predictable, maybe some more "freeform" ones (Mutilate objective was good for this, and other things like getting someone brigged/framing, stealing money and other things that like that?) and as for the ID card objective, perhaps. We could also rehash the lore to justify it with things like emags and agent IDs utilising stolen ID cards to justify it occuring in game.

  4. Indeed if we're critiquing on the basis of "The perfect Mix of RP & Action.", we can throw out Extended, Nuke Ops, Wizard, Shadowling etc etc until we're left with maybe just Changelings.

Indeed the majority of the game modes are exclusionary towards the majority of players, but that's just how it is. It works in a system that gives most people a chance to be one of the antagonists.

If it were a smaller group, much like a D&D session size then you could easily tailor-make the events and scenarios to target what gets people going the most, but that isn't really possible with well over a hundred people at peak.

  5. I'd like to go over a list of items that I believe are used too little that need reviewing, either mechanically or TC wise.

I know someone has a list of how often things have been purchased, do please link to that whoever you are. I think it was @Purpose2 but I'm not certain.

Ambrosia Cruciatus, 2TC - Not really sure how much these can be improved as I think they will never be relevant.
    Boozey Shells, 6TC - I don't think I've ever seen these used.
Fibre Wire Garotte, 12TC - Whilst effective, the high price does turn a lot of people off from what I've seen.
Camera Bug, 1TC - Very rarely useful, perhaps if it gave the user an AI-like method of viewing cameras and/or tracking people it would be more used.
Hacked AI Module, 14TC - Often skipped out on because R&D have the ability to effectively replace this at will.
Dart Pistol, 4TC - The size bonus is nice, but the RSG gives you more chance if you miss your first shot; and can be made for little material cost.
Binary Encryption Key, 5TC - Likely due to access to :b is much less valuable than hearing security.
Syndie Surgery bag, 4TC - Majority of items can be made from a 'lathe for little material cost.
Military Belt, 3TC - Very quick red flag that something is going on, despite not being S class contraband and made moot by Bag of Holding in most situations.

If anyone else knows of any other traitor items that may require a review on what they do and/or their price, I'd be interested to hear.

  6. Having played with quite a few clowns, the best way to deal with clowns you dislike and/or aggressive clowns is to ignore them, yes.

Think of bad clowns like trolls. Don't rise to it and they'll wander off somewhere else.

#notallclowns are bad though, there are some genuinely entertaining clowns; but I expect they are in the minority.

  7. Considering that removing the flash capability (Does the AOE using flash in-hand stun?) leaves EMP as the only reliable counter to a borg, this severely impacts one of the most popular races, IPCs. Emagging borgs would basically be impossible without a flash, too. I can't agree with these suggestions, far too much.

  8. So, the conversion staff has a few issues in my opinion.

1 - Security and Command have no way of knowing that thralls are actually thralls, or knowing when they stop being thralls.

2 - You can't tell that it's being used until the point of being converted, so you can't actually reasonably defend yourself from being enthralled.

3 - The amount of thralls one could possibly get can easily lend itself to instantly lethal battles.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

  9. If a clown or anyone else is interfering in your medical work to the point that somebody dies; push for sabotage or manslaughter charges and/or ahelp it.

If someone is consistently doing this, ahelp it.

If someone is round in, round out, being a shit who is only concerned with their own fun to the point where it's involving the death of other people, that can and will be dealt with.

  10. Pretty much. Why would NT hire people who moonlight in making nuclear explosions happen on their stations? Wouldn't make too much sense; so I think it's safe to assume that you are not your character that round, so should be a generic human.

  11. Handy in a crisis indeed, but also pretty useful outside. In fact, this would basically be a portable cryotube if it didn't fix bones. If it did, it's a portable medical. I'm not a fan.
