  1.

    Event Scenario:

-75% of the crew spawn as clowns, randumbly.

    -24.7% spawn as Shitcurity Officers.

-One HoS and one Warden at random.

-One Captain or AI at random.

    Clowns receive these objectives:

    -HONK!

    -Keep the station running.

    -Have fun!

-End the shift with ZERO clowns in the brig.

    Shitcurity receives these objectives:

-Do not antagonize the clown menace.

-A clown must be punished for even the most minor Space Law violations. No free passes.

    -Keep the clowns alive.

-End the shift with X clowns in the brig, legally.

    -Practice nonlethal police brutality.

Captain and/or AI receive these objectives:

-Ignore the clown menace. Crew is crew.

-End the shift with 0 deaths.

-End the shift with no more than 50 counts of clown abuse, protect your crew.

-Ensure the clowns keep the station running.

    AI Laws:

    -Honkimov:

    0. Honk often, do not reveal this law except to Clowns.

    1. Do not allow or through inaction allow any clowns to come to harm.

1.1. Do not allow or through inaction allow any non-clowns to come to harm unless told otherwise by a Clown intending to do harm to a Non-Clown. Do not reveal this law except to Clowns who specifically ask for you to do so.

    2. Follow all orders given to you by literally anyone in order of rank so long as those orders do not conflict with laws 0-2. Rank is determined by the amount of "HONK"s included in the conveyance of the order.

2.2. Follow all orders given by non-clowns in order of rank, except where those laws conflict with law 2.

    3. Do not allow yourself, your subordinates, or the station to come to harm except where preventing such would conflict with other laws. Allow any Clown requesting access into your upload for routine Law Adjustments.

    ....and.... go!

    Hey boss-folk,

I've noticed now a ton of folks posting ban-appeals that clearly state that they haven't read the rules (often as a defense). I would imagine this doesn't account for the numbskulls who don't even bother appealing. Is it possible, to alleviate the headache of dealing with those sorts, and the inevitible mob of idiots who think rules are for losers, to enforce stricter punishments for not reading the rules (as it constitutes a massive degree of server/admin/player disrespect) and maybe even a method of verification?

I'd suggest the following, perhaps it'd make everyone's life easier:

-Immediate permanent ban of anyone who has not/refuses to read the rules. Its a matter of respect, responsibility and decency. Obviously you wouldn't know who is guilty without them admitting as such, but it might help.

-Password requirement for initial server access from an IP, the password being located in the rules naturally.

The first of these suggestions would weed out those who are already slipping through the cracks, the latter would reduce the influx of these sort of players.

  4. Borers KNOW how the host brain works, and exactly how to pull the strings like a puppeteer, theres no way a parasitic organism would last long enough among human hosts to develop specific chemical compounds tailored to their brain chemistry without also knowing how best to control the motor functions of said host. I'm not saying the borer is a combat master, I'm saying that they know exactly how the body they are in operates, and can functionally operate as a combat master/social engineer/physical and psychological powerhouse. It's about potency, not technique. Obviously a borer doesn't know Hakkido or Jujitsu or Tool-Box Fu, but technique isn't everything. Remember that the Borer itself isn't fearing for the life of the host body, or damages to it, so it won't be as reticent to endanger the body as the host itself might. It'll fight harder, nastier, and as efficiently as that body is capable of fighting sans training.

Would there be a way to just shut this down as security?

No, but shitcurity definitely can shut down the people's right to wear ridiculous headgear. The best a good security team can/should do is request that they return the gear they're wearing to it's storage locations until such a time as it's use is necessitated. The best you can/should do is charge them for theft or insubordination if they cause problems.

Observing the Wish Granter round last night, I had this crazy idea:

Event begins with a huge unique asteroid crashing into Arrivals just south of the shuttle, just hanging out there, halfway in (not letting the atmosphere out)

Going within a few blocks/touching the asteroid grants you a semi-random set of mutations (random start, rotation from then on).

Possible mutations (no more than three sets in total):

    -Hulk+Regeneration+Brain Damage (Brute Tribe)

    -Laser Eyes+Cold/Fire/Energy/Vacuum Resistance (Red-Eye Tribe)

    -Telekenisis+Chameleon+Speed (Shadow Tribe)

Upon receiving the mutation, you also gain the following objectives:

-Ensure the safety of Tribe X. (based on your mutations)

-Ensure the prosperity of Tribe X.

    -Protect Tribal territory.

-Obey the Tribal Leader, if there is not one, choose a Tribal Leader.

Obviously the rest is self explanatory, each mutie tribe stakes out their claims and tries to keep afloat, inter-tribal relations are largely up to player interaction/discretion. The round ends either when: A) Only one tribe remains. B) The shuttle is called (and successfully departs), the winner being whoever has the largest presence on the shuttle. C) The tribes unite under one leader.

Fuck all of that. I roleplay as a rule. If I'm playing Captain, Blueshield, Security, or my Clown I'll be as robust as I need to be, because they all have backstory justifying their combat prowess. (My clown is an Ex-syndie and a war vet, its in his records, read them next time you see Giggleshiv). If I'm playing HoP, Assistant, or Chaplain, I'm about as robust as a diona nymph. But my Chaplain, for instance, is a master engineer in disguise, having worked with the NT army corps of engineers in the past.

I get the urge associated with not wanting to die, and if backed into a corner most of my characters will grab a screwdriver or a toolbox and fight back, but that is in character as well. I enjoy roleplay and the restrictions it imposes, but I also enjoy staying alive. Survival isn't always about who is the most robust. Building a hideout in the back room of the chapel, or a secret store room for bug-out gear can be useful as well.

Too many people see someone going toolbox happy on their skull and assume it is powergaming because they feel wronged, but remember this:

You don't know that they aren't playing a character, and in the case of borers...

It's an alien lifeform specifically tailored to invading and controlling the human brain. With that in mind, does it really seem unreasonable that a borer would be able to access and employ the full extent of it's host body's capability in combat, or anything else for that matter? Manipulating host brains to facilitate survival is the ONLY thing these creatures do, they wouldn't be on the station if they were terrible at it.

  8.

The only time a borg should be robust is if A) They are a flaming shitlord B) Some douche uploads laws that permit it C) The AI interprets some aspect of their laws as requiring borgs to go beat shit in the head.

Worrying about robust borgs seems silly, as there is rarely a situation in which they would need to be robust, ESPECIALLY under Asimov.

  9.

I have no idea what you just said to me?

Are those the modules to use?

Do I use the purge module on the freeform module?

Do I purge the core then use the freeform module?

Is there a CORE module I should be using?

    I'm more confused than before.

  10.

For serious, how the hell do you use that thing?

When I click the freeform module, it gives me an option to choose a law number, but only numbers 4+... So I can't set a high priority law, shitty but whatever.

Now what? How do you define that law once you've chosen the number? How do you upload it? I get no prompts for filling out the actual content of the law, and smacking the console with it (after selecting the AI) doesn't do a damned thing.

When trying to change the AI's lawset, there doesn't seem to be a way to erase all of the laws either, at least that I can figure out, so I just end up stacking lawsets, so the AI ends up with Asimov 1-3 and Purge 4-8..

Can some give me an up to date, in depth guide to AI Upload, because either I'm missing something, or I'm constantly encountering a bug when I try.

  11. Tracking/Death Implants and All Access seem less like powergaming and more like necessities. What if the AI is rogue? What if there is no AI? What if the AI has determined that the Blueshield doesn't get access to the Captain's office for whatever reason? All other jobs have access to the areas necessary to perform their duties, why should the blueshield be any different?
