  1. I feel like a big issue here is that if you do this then roboticists are completely hung out to dry when Science doesn't have someone doing RnD or when there aren't any scientists around. There should be a priority for people being able to fill the things that they're completely reliant on if need be (in the case of Roboticists NEEDING RnD to build), as opposed to someone having to deal with somebody else possibly stepping on their toes in RnD, in my opinion.

  2. Does it matter what the Secbelt CAN store? The detective is given a flash, handcuffs, police tape and a telebaton. That's four of the five slots of a belt in their office, which, combined with the light, gives them a full belt of items. What the secbelt is meant for storing is items that can fit on the secbelt, which the detective gets more than enough of to warrant it.

You say that like having to use a box isn't the most irritating thing there is. It basically requires you to put away any current task to do the next one, and in a game like SS13 I don't really think we need to be taking routes that make the game more unwieldly. I agree with the lack of brig access, that's a good thing - but I don't see how giving the detective storage space for items they're given in their office encourages them to play like a full fledged security officer.

Either way, the main component of this suggestion is the seclite, which is something I've seen the detective ask for pretty much every second shift. The belt is just an easy way of delivering on this with some extra ease of use for zero fuss.

As a Detective, you are given a lot of equipment as part of your standard kit. Your office contains a flash, a roll of police tape, and a pair of cuffs, and you start your round with a telescopic baton among three other items in your backpack, starting half full before you've even had a chance to do anything. On top of it all, what's the first thing you're likely to hear from the detective in a round?

"Could somebody give me a seclite, please?"

My suggestion is fairly simple: Add a security belt complete with flashlight to the Detective's locker so he or she has a place for all the security items given to them. No more waiting at the warden's office or tapping on glass trying to get a security officer to toss you equipment.

  5. Actually. If this were somehow made functional, would that also allow you to make gas bombs the same way you can mix two beakers in a grenade? Because now that would be something interesting.

  6. I've wanted something like this for quite a while. Plasma fire? Mix up that stuff that the atmos extinguishers use and pipe it in. Virus outbreak? Start pumping in radium or such to fight the disease. Lots of applications, if it can be coded and not result in a complete mess.

    Name of Event: The Exchange

One Sentence Description: Two of the Syndicate Corporations must exchange sensitive documents, and the Cyberiad is the place to do it.

    Map Changes: No

    Code Changes: No (I think)

    Suggested Number of Players: 50+

Full Description of Event: Two teams of syndicate agents have infiltrated the Cyberiad, for the purpose of trading secrets under the nose of other corporations. One member of each team is in possession of a set of documents, and has only a time and place at which to make the deal, with no knowledge of the identities of their allies. Though all parties would like to keep their personal secrets to themselves, the trade is mutually beneficial. The other members are aware simply of the team member they are to protect, and the time of the deal, and must introduce themselves thusly before the exchange begins. A syndicate outpost on a nearby asteroid has been piping out bluespace interference on nanotrasen channels, so there won't be any interruptions in the form of an early escape shuttle for whatever calamity.

However, the plan has gone awry. A third team of operatives has gone rogue from the syndicate and have their own plans. They've got the names, times and an urge to sell the documents off for their own personal gain. They've organised a transport shuttle to be docked upon the Cyberiad, for a quick getaway after snatching the documents, but their blundering and suspicious setup has tipped off Nanotrasen's security that something might be going down, leaving the crew of the Cyberiad in the midst of a four-way standoff between multiple syndicate corps and their own security force.

  8. I was the Captain and was personally involved in this event. Amelia Rose is basically seeing things that aren't there, and behaved in a very childish manner when called on acting inappropriately IC. I support Luigi, this ban was completely justified, that kind of behaviour as a member of sec staff is ridiculous, and trying to call meta on it seems like just being sour because some people like to play one role / have a character specifically for one role.

While improving the look is a good endeavor, it's not something that can be done a sprite at a time without causing a huge period of disassociated styles. If the entire game were to be redone to a higher degree of quality, huge numbers of sprites would need to be redone at once, which is a hell of a lot of work for something that is pretty much okay right now anyways.

Also, I'm working on something for this. Might be worth putting up. We'll see.

    Name: Tanya Stroud

    Age: 34

    Gender: Female

    Race: Human

    Blood Type: A+

General Occupational Role(s): Head of Security or Security Officer, also cleared for Blueshield work.

Biography: Born to a military family on one of Mars’ largest military cities, Tanya Stroud followed a father and two older brothers into the service of the Sol Defence Fleet at the age of 16. Though her youth caused a lot of grief to herself and her superiors early in her training, by the time she entered proper service Tanya had matured into a sharp and dedicated soldier. She remained in military service for seven years of her life, but never strayed far from the work of a footsoldier, choosing to take no promotion that would take her off of the front lines.

However, Tanya’s military career came to an end at the age of 28, when a breach of a disabled Vox skipjack found her in the explosive range of an IED set in place by the crew. Tanya was alive fortunately protected by a jammed door, however the right side of her body was damaged beyond repair. It was as such that she was honourably discharged from the force, returned to her home city with a promise that she would be rehabilitated.

Cybernetics gave Tanya her limbs back, with Xion Manufacturing Group providing the mechanics and the military providing the funding. After a year of rehabilitation and healing she was once again considered combat capable, but no longer satisfied with the simple forces of Sol, instead pledging herself to a PMC in the service of several different companies across the Tau Ceti sector. Guard duty turned into military action, which turned into guerrilla warfare as Tanya proved herself in service, though she found herself facing a moral crisis as it was clear that this syndicate of corporate entities cared little for civilian loss or collateral damage. She did not renew her contract.

At the age of 31, Tanya found herself propositioned by a recruiter for the NanoTrasen security division, and eagerly took the role to heart. Though her previous employment raised some questions with executives, her dedication and military strictness (tempered further by what she was forced to do in PMC service) combined with her skill at civilian interaction found her in good favour. She continues to serve the corporation to the best of her ability, maintaining security and control to NanoTrasen stations.

    Qualifications:

    - Knowledge of Space Law

    - Seven years military service, one in medical role, three in squad command

    - Three years PMC/Private Security service, advanced weapon training as a result

Employment Records: Tanya Stroud has served on NanoTrasen stations for three years, beginning with smaller vessels and ending on the Cyberiad. She has proven her dedication to the cause time and time again, even without the influence of loyalty implants on her psyche, and is more than qualified for command.

Security Records: Given her strict and dedicated service, Tanya Stroud has had previous security concerns stricken from the record.

Medical Records: Of sound mind, and despite complications in her cybernetic augmentation, of sound body. Her right arm and leg are robotic, and complications in her injury means that any cloning results in the eventual loss of her limbs’ use regardless, confining her to modern cybernetics. Besides these issues, she is healthy.

  11. Hey guys! I've been around for a while now but never really got off my butt to write this, so, hello from down under! I'm the player of Julissa Lloyd, Tai Domae, Violet Taylor and Tanya Stroud, though most people probably only know one of the latter two. On top of all that, If you've ever seen one of the SCARLETT- or AMITY- cyborgs, that's me too!
