In response to the OP, while this is a "common" thing in medieval RPG's and the like, it the truth is that the "poison" would be is such low quantity, or would try out too quickly to do any real damage, unless it is extremely potent. This means that either this needs to be extremely OP, by applying a lot of the reagent smeared on the item, or have no effect at all. It seems like it'd be very hard to balance as well, and I don't see it being used for anything else than scientists and chemists becoming more powerful. It has the same problem as syringe stabbing and auto-injector refilling has---it's the go to thing to use in most situations as an antag (or even as a defensive weapon), and will be utilized constantly by anyone with even the slightest of "powergamey" leanings. But a big no to this idea, the one hypospray on station we have already is powerful enough on its own. There shouldn't be more things like it.
