[Traitor suggestion] Fake replacements

Ever get the objective to steal the captain or HoS's laser, or to steal the blueprints?

 

Well shit, they go missing and the manhunt immediately begins.

 

Why not as an optional item give agents access to fakes that they can replace their objectives with in order to not raise suspicion?

 

Nuke ops? What? No worries! I have the fukken disk right here. *Insert whatthefuckboom*

 

[*] The Captain / the HoS' laser.

The fake does exactly what the original does, except for it does absolutely no damage and is nothing but a fancy flashlight.

 

[*] The blueprint of the station.

The blueprints get opened and instead of a detailed map of the station, it's a random ASCII face

 

[*] The nuclear authentication disk.

Looks just like the real thing, except for it gives an electric (mild) shock to whoever is unfortunate enough to shove it into a nuke.

I could see this working at a hefty TC cost (double digit), to reward traitors who could otherwise pull off theft undetected with little gear anyway. There would be serious balance concerns with it otherwise.

 

This could also see some interesting use outside of faking your theft objective, though (replacing the HoS' gun with a fake then attacking him, giving you the upper hand whilst he tries to figure out why his gun's not firing).

 

As far as specific examples go, the nuke disk may have issues in that it's unlikely to be discovered as a fake at all until it'd ruin the round by having been replaced, though that might actually be pretty interesting.

Sounds fun, but every replacement item would have to be done "handcrafted" (coded). I mean if a coder is up to it, it would be even better.

 

But how about a less fancy version and creating a single item that is a "chameleon pojector for items". It takes on the icon, sprite and maybe the size of the item it is used on. Maybe you could also buy another item that could reset the chameleon item projector so it could be turned into somethign else.

 

The new fake item doesn't work at all, you can just carry it around and move it around in your bags and stuff like that. But once you try to use it, for example the HoS laser, it won't change firemodes or shoot at all.
