Casino Time

Recommended Posts

The area between the mechanic and the engineering areas of the non used "assembly line" area.

Lets turn it into a casino.

Perks

-It will bring more people to the south of the station.

-it will make a new job called the dealer and another reason to need a guard.

-it will bring more use for credit chips and cards.

-more need for a chef and barkeeper and possible a need for another one.

-Last but not least, New job "Dealer".

-Engineering looses a great building site

-More crazy specific jobs are not needed

-Money is still completely useless

-More people around engineering is bad

As much as I enjoy re-purposing the Assembly Line, I'm going with what Fj said.

We have enough problems with people pestering/breaking into Engineering without a casino in there to ramp up civvie traffic. Next thing we know we have a bunch of angry betters trying to take it out on us.

Unless, of course, we can add a permabrig-style N2O system to it! Then it'd be awesome.

I don't think the assembly line should be replaced, it's a brilliant construction site for engineering. I also don't think heavily economy-based features would work particularly well since nobody cares about money anyway.

Hypothetically, if we ever to add in VG's mechanic, this is where it would go---and I personally feel that would be a better job than ...casino operator.

That and I also feel that, for the most part, the points brought up here are quite valid.

Aren't slot machines and the like constructable? If not, they should be.

Making a casino OUT of the assembly line IC and having your job changed IC by the Head of Personnel is way more interesting than it simply being a thing, and more than that, it's not something everybody would necessarily want or need every single round.

Ok all very valid points to which i agree with but i thought it would be nice to add a casino to the station somewhere at some point. also it would encourage betting which i have not seen ever on the station.

this is true but security would always be right there then.

to counter your idea why not add a sec check point right in the middle of the science section next to roboticist and such.

Thats funny coming from the guy throwing twenty suggestions around to powercreep borgs.

I shall neither confirm nor deny that allegation.

But really, shitcurity wouldn't change much with a checkpoint, the big problems are with mapping space and usefulness of the room

Again I don't shirk from that charge; that doesn't impugn me because borgs are obviously UP and have a skewed cost/benefit leaning towards the former as anyone who uses them often knows, so of course I'm going to keep suggesting and coding improvements for them until they are adequately rewarded for what they give up.

An encouraged security presence at one of the grief nerve centres of the game is pretty reasonable and definitely more useful than an empty room or a gambling hall.

Honestly if there was a casino, it wouldn't technically have to be nanotrasen. It could have its own station on its own Z level, maybe have a shuttle or gateway access, though it will probably be a bad idea for some reason or other.
