No, no no and no. Rev is hard enough to moderate on single shifts. Having it in rotation? Nevah. I'd rather have highlander.

Good idea, lets add that too!

  2. I chose to play Vox because they are spaceproof with few downsides. Since then a few more downsides have been introduced; however I still think they're pretty strong mechanically.

Although RP isn't my first thought, I do like how Vox are roleplayed and I think they are the only true unique species on the station and because of that I would still play them now even if there were no mechanical benefits.

  3. Very much opposed to this - and I would like to know the motivations of the staff members who asked for its removal. If the intention is to prevent IC in OOC then I would argue that removing the entire OOC because of a few rule-breakers is unfair to the majority of the playerbase who use it responsibly.

OOC can be a very positive experience when used correctly to get to know other members of the community - laughs and jokes can be had on dull rounds, people can get to know the ckeys behind the characters, observers can chat with others when dchat is slow.

Overall I see this as a net negative to the community and server. I doubt it would serve to make the discord more active - we already have a small community of active discorders and I don't really see people alt tabbing to talk during rounds happening often.

If people are mis-using OOC then they should be muted from OOC to allow the more responsible players to still enjoy it.

  4. IPCs are just horrible to deal with.

    • Their pings are loud, annoying, and used far too frequently. Sometimes a whole group of them will get together and *buzz constantly just to make themselves as annoying as possible. I cannot think of any other race that does annoying shit en-masse like this.
    • They're prone to stealing things, then either denying it, or simply claiming they had to because the thing was 'shiny'. No matter what job they're in.
    • They will literally fight each other for the sake of a fancy hat.
    • They're quick to scream bloody murder over comms, and generally insult other crew, given the slighest (usually not justified) reason.
    • They come off as disrespectful, snarky, annoying, and convinced of their own superiority, despite being by far the most annoying race to deal with.

Are there some decent IPCs? Of course. There are decent characters of every species.

On average, though? I suspect a good chunk of the players who play IPC, play it because they enjoy the fact that being IPC gives them a license to act a bit shitty. Stealing things, screaming a lot, annoying people, etc. Rather like how most people playing janitor, or clown, do it because they like being annoying, rather than because they like cleaning things, or telling jokes.

Not all IPCs are bad. But they do have a disproportionate number of annoying characters.

    • Swapping out your sec boots for normal black shoes, enables you to sneak up on people.

Apply tape roll to your sec boots to achieve the same result.

    • Carry a backup weapon.
    • Grab some medical supplies if you can to take in your backpack, a pill bottle with patches in works wonders.
    • People can be buckled to certain pipes once cuffed in emergencies to stop them running off.
    • Flashbangs are overpowered; get a few of them and spam them if you're outnumbered or verses a dangerous opponent.
    • Prepare accordingly. Security have many more tools they can use in addition to their kit.
    • Be pro-active and not reactive. Think about what the antag may be doing and prepare in advance, what kit may they have, what weapons, what powers?
    • Take action first and worry later. If you suspect something is up then don't hesitate. Things can always be worked out later.

But mechanically I wouldn't have to do that.I don't see it being a problem if this type of feature was added to the game. It's just for roundstart disabilities and nothing else. Unless there is a legit reason, which I don't see any, then that is something that should be discussed.

It is being discussed right here.

Well whether you see it or not. Why do you not want people to have the option?

I don't want people to have the option because I just see it as ridiculous to have an opt-out for a game-play feature which is designed for a certain purpose. Why can't I have an opt out for being stunned because my character is super strong and unstunnable?
