  1. The Magistrate has no business telling the Captain how to do his job or who he appoints. If that was the case, you should of ahelped it. However, if it was a legal issue, which we were discussing parole, the Magistrate has the final say.

This could of been an issue of a terrible choice from Central (badmin?) or there is more to the story that you are not telling us.

HoS is irrelevant to this discussion. My point is that the captain has less actual control over the running of the station than the Heads of Staff. One of the few powers the captain has, has now been removed because apparently the Magistrate needs something to justify their existence.

Okay so, this is a problem about who holds more power. What power do you want the Captain to have over the Magistrate exactly? Is this about giving the Captain more control? If I interpret your sentence correctly, you are basically saying that the Captain is useless because they do not have full power/control of what goes on in the station?

  3. And to reinforce some of the statements above. The Captain ≠ Security. Captain is there to supervise the entire station overall, not to micromanage. That's what the Heads of each department are for. This is a problem with the lack of understanding. Being a Captain doesn't mean you have power to control security of its entirety. You'll only piss off the HOS both IC and OOC.

That being said. The Magistrate puts less work on both the Captain, and HoS/Warden sometimes if the situation calls for it. The Magistrate, in my opinion, serves as a supervisor as well. Making sure the sec team is giving everyone a proper/fair sentence. They don't need to be their to sentence every single criminal that walks in the brig. Most of the sec team knows what each prisoner should be sentence to. You are just there if a decision cannot be made or to look into high profile cases.

  4. Both the CE and Robonerd pretty much have access to the same resources.

Lets start with the cries for help. What are the chances that the suspect playing the victim in the situation? It's almost uncommon. They are both in deliveries so I am assuming Cargo? If its Cargo, who is around? Are they alone or is their witnesses? What is the alert level at?

You find the CE and the Robonerd is on top of them. Is the Robonerd fleeing? He has the CE in restrains. is he hurting him? Did you examine both their injuries (ie, He/she appears to have burns or bruises).

What does it take for someone to craft a stunprod? Cable Cuffs... CE has Cables Cuffs in his bag. Did they make two by accident? If possible, check his toolbelt. Does he have any more cables? Do the same with the Robonerd in the same examination.

Those are the questions that need to be answered.

  5. What about objectives that require you to murder someone? How can you make that fun without permanently kicking someone out of the game? I would like to hear some suggestions (cause what I just thought was dumb).

    *Finds antag loot*

"yep, fuck it, let's not waste time cloning now."

That's not 100% true. Many antags who are found to be antag do get cloned or resuscitated, regardless if loot was found or not. The executions have been toned down a few months ago to allow this to happen much more instead of just leaving them in the morgue to rot.

And I think some of you have taken my post out of context. Lethal ≠ Kill/Murder. What I meant by using lethal, is to disengage the threat. As most of us know, we have an idea on the difference of putting someone to crit, and actually killing someone. If they are in crit, there is no purpose to continue your engagement. I would ahelp if it does continue when there is a clear sign that the antag no longer has the ability to continue being a threat. This is how it should be. If for some chance, the threat dies without any malicious intent to actually kill the antag, then oh well, you shouldn't have pulled a esword, you fuck (<-- directed to antags).

This would probably allow more use of bomb implants as well.

Meanwhile IRL, cop's constantly shoot innocents out of false suspicion but get to keep their jobs.

"You're expected to follow higher standards" yeah, well mistakes always happen.

Well this isn't real life and the difference between playing a game and IRL is (whether you are a cop or not, idk), you are not risking your life every day with chance that the 'innocent' person that you thought was okay to allow to let your guard down kills you. Of course everyone is expect to have high standard and to this day, I believe that (Yeah there are bad cops out there) if a Cop can justified there action and provides a solid reason, then fine whatever. Most of the cop shooting is because of stupid idiots not following a lawful order. I'm subscribed to many police video channels on youtube and i can gaurentee you that, THAT is mostly the case. You do something stupid, you get shot.

Here is a freeby (Warning, its someone getting shot but they are alive and well to this day): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr0NFyD0Nzw

Another freebie: 75 percent of people who did get shot (regardless of them getting shot multiple times) tend to survive. At least that is what I was told by an actual police officer when getting my conceal permit a while ago.

Next Day Edit: I think that is really how it should be. The "Security should try to take someone down with non-lethal measures first" should be taken more lightly than it should. We have Defibs and Cloning for a reason. If the person is dangerous, considered a antag, etc. I say Lethal should be the FIRST option, not the second.

  8. I think the problem is that players who play security are afraid to go from non-lethal to lethal, because they expect to get BWOINK, Jobban, and/or even permaban. Even if you had a good reason (I had a good reason but got permabanned and jobbanned thinking that someone was a shadowling), In my experience, you have a chance to get banned regardless.

edit: and when I mean good reason, I mean a solid reason that you assume something was true happened to be true/false in the end. For example, when an admin bwoinks you and tells you that they were not a shadowling and then get banned because you failed to recognize that.

  9. If you have a smart geneticist that doesn't just give syringes like handouts and understand how to make copies of multiple SE AND knows how to fix instabilities....Still makes the DNA not worth it.

the instabilities can be fix so easy, its almost like you never had it in the first place.

Thats a problem with the player not the title. Its also a reason to get them fired. and depending on the extent of the players actions. BWOINKed. It is NOT a reason to removal the title.

I put it up at least to see how it goes. It a Pull 'Request' for a reason.

  11. I discuss this in my recent post https://nanotrasen.se/forum/topic/11146-reduce-the-amount-of-civilian-slots/

Station goals aren't technically station goals if you look at it. Most of the goals are handed to engineering to do all the dirty work and as long as science and the crew cooperates with them. There is no advantage to completing them including the meteor satellites (especially when you have meteors come in and a unrelated station goal appears that round).

Stations goals doesn't allow engineers any free time to do anything. Most of the time, the Captain, NT Rep, or CE would force the engineers to get working on it and not allowing any engineer any free time to do anything and engage in actual roleplay. Many times their is a CE that would fire you if you don't help with building these goals as well as making it very hard to roleplay when you want to play as an engineer and take a few breaks once in a while. It's not only wrong, but it promotes low-rp more than anything. Free the engineers from this hell and remove station goals.

TLDR: Station Goals doesn't allow Engineers any autonomously to do anything and reinforces low roleplay by putting mechanics of the game first than actual engagement to roleplay in general. Might as well call them Engineer Goals.

I find it strange how no one has bought this up yet... but when it comes to cult rounds it would mean you pretty much have to kill cultists as holy water would damage them and charcoal would only hinder the deconversion process as it has a 50% chance to remove 1u of reagents in the cultists system per cycle, as on average it requires around 30u to 40u of holy water to actually cure one of them. In other words it would only cause salt in another way unless the deconversion amount was drastically lowered. Or the whole brain damage thing could come back, I think that would personally be much better as that can be fixed without halting things for too long.

I mean Holy Water doesn't have an overdose limit. Maybe after being fed 100 times, then that should be considered drowning someone to death.

  13. Wow these are out of order...damnit

Edit: I would also note, that I would apologize for my behavior that round as well. Forgot to mention.

Complaint: My feelings were hurt basically

Writing a formal complaint about an incident that occur with me and a new player. The Tesla was loose during the round and I notice that he was closing the firelocks to block people from going to the shuttle. I smacked him with a crowbar twice for him to get the message to not do that is a very stressful situation (Being a mute vulp). I although, I did deserve being assaulted by him for those actions and yet he gone a bit to far that I had to ahelp. And here is part of the conversation that I want able to screenshot. I took as many as I can and would explain if it was taken out of context.

They're going to do that anyway to arm themselves. Rather than have a rule, have the department head secure anything they want to keep safe before all access is handed out.

Well just recently I ahelp when a few people raided the security lockers...lets just say the admins werent too happy about it. Yeah it should be in the rules.

  16. Those are all good points, but I would like to point out a life lesson I learn..."Work with what you got". I believe there needs to be a stop to allowing people to take advantage of these all access and use their brain to figure how they can contribute to the fight instead of trying to what...powergame?
