It also means that you're conveniently able to get a ton of extra protection, for free, just because you're wearing a coat.

DZD did extensive math on this, and it's a ridiculously huge additional advantage, to the degree that you have to dramatically nerf armor stats for it to be balanced against vests.

A bit confused by what you mean here. You know a lot more about this then I do, but from how I see it there is no difference between having a armored vest or a armored vest and a unarmored coat, except cosmetics. Does every coat/jacket have armor values? I assumed most did not unless it said so in the description upon examination.

If that is the case, and every coat/jacket has armor values, then this theoretically can be circumvented by the highest armor value always overwriting the other smaller values, thus eliminating stacking armor values. Of Which, I assume, the highest armor value would always be the vest.

  2. Yeah I figured that this feature would be incompatible with any sort of jacket/coat that gives bonus and is not purely cosmetic, such as the HoS's armored coat or the Warden's armored jacket. Also as Coldflame and Farya mentioned, it should also mention something of the sort on examination. Furthermore, a stealth armored vest which Farya mentioned could be a pretty cool idea.

  3.

I propose that most of all armored vests, such as Bulletproof and Security vests be able to be attached to coats/jackets, or vise versa, while still retaining the benefit of the armored vest. This would mean that, for example, a detective can wear his trench coat and his armor in conjunction with each other, in the same slot. The main purpose of this is for cosmetics and the ability to hide armor vests under some types of coats/jackets. From a practical perspective, it also does not make much sense to not be able to wear a armor vest and a coat over it.

Of course, armored vests wouldn't be able to be attached to armored coats/jackets as that would be stacking armor values. Armored vests would also not be able to be attached to any sort of exosuit such as hardsuits or space suits. The reason why armored vests would attached to jackets/coats and not be able to be attached to jumpsuits is because then somebody could wear another armored vest or coat over a armored vest; Thus stacking armor. For some armored vests, such as Ablative or captains carapace, would be entirely up to you peoples as I can see how that may be a balance issue.

Please let me know if there are possible issues with this idea, why you disagree/agree with it, etc.

  4. Makes sense that NT would strongly oppose the idea of Unions on their ships and stations. Sadly, there is little reason to try and form a Union other than to try and create RP. However I like the idea and would be willing to, at the very least, try it out.

  5. Cant say I agree with this, we definitely do not need more engineers, and I dont think we need more sec officers either. 2 detectives would not make sense because there is only enough equipment to fully gear one detective, not to mention only one office meant for one detective. Im not quite sure how removal atmos tech would help either.

  6.

This would be a nice thing to have but it's better not to have it, the snufleks are real.

I'm not joking, you used to be able to name and extensively customise your ERT character and we lost that because people started using on-station characters and BS arrpee'ing themselves into metashitdom, there were more than a couple of petty officers/fleet lieutenants running around and it was terrible.

The same thing would happen with customizable nuke ops.

Im with Doukan on this one, I dont think that allowing this would be a good idea

Perma is supposed to actually feel punishing ICly. This almost completely removes that suspension of disbelief. I wouldn't really call cryoing out as soon as you are arrested RP, the notion of adding cryosleepers to perma pretty much encourages that.

I understand what you are saying, but if a player is bored, or they have to go IRL reasons, lack of a cryosleeper will not stop them what so ever. If a person logs out as soon as they are arrested is not rp, but people like that would do that with or without a cryosleeper in perma. The only thing perma Cryosleeper would really effect here is removing a SSD body from laying on a floor the rest of the round

A change nobody seems to suggest is adjusting SMES units so they can't vent excess power as effectively- meaning that overloading the grid unintentionally is a genuine risk associated with the more heavy-duty engines. This would force engineers to juggle the PA when running the tesla to keep it within an area where it's producing enough power without producing too much.

I think that this would be a interesting change, and one for the better in my opinion. I support this.

Well is clear we are not going to agree on complete, normal security antags, so how about we come to a compromise? First off, Warden, HoS, and Detective cant be antags, only Security Officers and Brig Physicians. Next, the antag officers and physicians can only be Traitor, not changelings and shadowlings and so on. Also if there is 3 or less officers than they do not spawn as antags, and only 1/4 officers will be a antag.

Final part is that traitor officers will not have normal traitor objectives, but rather the officers are more "Bad Cops". Let me give ya a list of what these "Bad Cops" objectives would be like

Disconfigure the face or break the bones of X

Make sure X spends at least Y amount of time in a cell

Make sure X does not die

Make sure fellow officer X does not die

Increase the money in your bank account by X amount

Escape on the shuttle alive and free

    And maybe

Die a glorious death- Some people may interpret this as shooting fellow officers in the back

Steal X- It would need to be something non-grand theft, but then it comes to me whats the point of stealing it?

Well thats my idea of security antag compromise, let me know what you think

  10. I understand your concerns for wanting to make surgery safer, but I do not see a reason in remapping it, maybe removing the doors might make sense if everyone would like that. However if people are messing around there ask the CMO to lock it or the AI, im sure they would be happy too if there is a alert or suspicious activity in maint.

I completely agree that Tesla needs a change, as there is no reason to choose singularity over it unless you think someone may let the Tesla out. Which at the start of the round, role play wise there is no reason to suspect that as nothing has happened yet. The possibility of the grid shorting out, or a wire somewhere sometimes gets fried and possibly causes a fire would be a good way to balance the two.

Another way of balancing it is to make it so some of the parts for the Tesla have to ordered from cargo, so therefore if someone wants to have the amazing Tesla, they will have to wait in line at cargo. However this may be nerfing the Tesla too much, as many people would likely set up the singularity instead of waiting for parts for the Tesla.

There have been other ideas regarding the Tesla in the past which have come to little or naught. I think the most that people were willing to do is lower the energy output of the tesla so that it puts out less energy than the singularity at first, but slowly builds in output over the course of the round.

I dont think this would balance it out, because no maintenance will always triumph over effectiveness in my opinion, however perhaps I am wrong, and some CE's would prefer singularity in that regard.
