  3. Ah yes our beloved R&D consoles with their ID access locking mechanism. Completely impenetrable by any non scientists (not even EMAGs work on the believe me i tried) and cant be used by anyone who isnt a filthy scientist or begged the HoP for r&d access one the 1 out of 100 chance they gave it to them. In other words that damn ID lock is a nightmare for anyone outside of sci. Want to get creative as Sling thrall, traitor, bookclub member and build a ghetto protholathe in maint you and somehow get the parts you still cant use the console. .Instead of having it be unbreakable i propose that if you take the R&D console board and allow you to multitool it just like you can multitool the supply console in order to remove the access restrictions (not remove weapon lockboxes just keep remove access restriction on the r&d console) This would be a way for every antag to use r&d consoles and make their own ghetto laboratories. Hacking a r&d console should count as sabatouge under space law since dangerous stuff can be made via protholathe and requiring all hacked r&d console be removed immediately. This would also allow for science to not be as OP in nations since atmosia could make their own equipment.

  6. Something should be done about it. I always thought that the R&D console should be hackable like the cargo shuttle computer by by ripping out the board and multitooling it to remove access restrictions. It would make secret antag science labs tucked away in maint possible without being a syndie and buying a emag possible and if you were to do it in the main r&d lab the science team would beat the ever living daylights out of you since you broke in and messing with their equipment.
  7. Still its nigh impossible to make since you need rare items from seperate departments when it is difficult to get anything from either department. It should be hard to make but not near impossible

  10. actually you can make lethals and riot shells from a hacked autolathe and i say that tech shells stay protholathe level stuff to keep it from being absolutely OP
  11. Currently some of the makeshift weaponry on the station is so expensive and resource intensive to make that it is essentially not worth it to make. For example the shotgun needs a pipe from engineering/atmos, wood from cargo/botany and the hardest of all a modular receiver from science. The first two are doable but a modular receiver from sci is impossible to get since it involves having a scientist at the r&d desk, said scientist willing to make you a modular receiver, and said scientist not outright calling security on you. For this i propose that the modular receiver be made a hacked autolathe product and be able to substitute metal in the place of wood. Also the crossbow should have the plastic requirement removed since plastic is a cargo only product since it is a left over from the old mining system. To balance this extra wood would be needed in place of the missing plastic.
  12. +1 this is good for moderatly ambitious engineers who are training to do mega projects like derelict reconstruction, space fort building, and is important to give them a hatred for science due to their access locked protholathe
  13. agreed with flat but i have a alternative. the description says it does less damage to your eyes when it still messes up your eyes when used without a mask. Maybe make it so id doesnt do eye damage maskless
  14. eh i suppose your right but i still stand by airlock customization for the ADV RCD. Normal RCD's should be unchanged
  15. I had meant a full window no grill since 2 small windows are inferior in construction to full windows since blueprints only work if the room is completely 100% enclosed with walls, airlocks, and full windows only. Still being able to quickly build things is the point of the RCD.
  16. have you ever tried to build anything outside of repairing breaches? Its not easy to do it in a short amount of time. Any kind of construction that's more than floors and walls takes a extreme amount of time on a large scale. Being able to create reinforced windows, airlocks with access and airlock type and a larger matter capacity would be excellent and would be balanced out by the fact there is only 1 on station and it belongs to the CE. Normal RCD's are fine the way they are and are nearly accessible to everyone since all you need is a hacked autolathe and cargo/sci usually does it 5 minutes into the shift making the steal the RCD objective a absolute cakewalk
  17. hmm maybe your right about the size change but still it is something that should be used by construction workers. Maybe make the ADV RCD fit in toolbelt and normals non toolbeltable?

The CE's RCD should be replaced with the same RCD that the engineer ERT's have since normal RCD's are trivial to acquire and the easiest greentext possible and all of the heads have special super duper cool experimental equipment that only very few people have access to (ERT and deathsquad). Giving the CE a ADV RCD and changing the objective to steal a ADV RCD would actually make the task a bit more challenging and not a simple walk in cargo hack lathe and be done kinda deal. Also a ADV RCD would make grand engineering project go a bit faster and make emergency repairs station repairs easier due to 5 times the capacity Also some RCD changes would be wondrous for ambitious engineers. Reduce the RCD size to allow it to be put in a tool belt, allow it to make reinforced and regular full windows, and be able to change the door style and door access on the door option.

  21. Know that window that pops up when the shuttle docks with CC that states if the scientists and robotisists " Did their fucking job" if they maxed R&D or built a cyborg. Well maybe there could be one for engineers as well where if they wire up all 4 solar arrays and they are all detected by the solar computer or have a tesla/singularity in the pit would give them their own little "did their fucking job" greentext and a small amount of cash wired to their bank accounts. Also side note add a airlock on the engineering station to make construction easier on the construction site
