  1. Yes, Spark revived DaKittaX playing as their Tajaran Kirl at the time for along the lines of "Being the least cheesy of them all." Not exactly words for but very close.There after when the four princes killed everyone and Spark was talking about it in Deadchat how two would have just been fine. Rancresh, one of hte people we where with immediately logged off from the game entirely upset. Sergey Petreoniv* whom was the one hoarding all but one of the guns from others (And got the rest of the team killed by opening the prince and mother cages earlier) ghosted and afked for the rest of the round to what I understand. I myself was dragged to medbay and finally revived ten minutes later and sepnt the rest of the round in medbay undergoing massive surgery which ended the round for me as well. Meanwhile, Kirl whom wanted to do stuff with Meex was also very upset as now their round was officially over in her mind since the person they wanted to play with was gone for the rest of the round. Shortly after the round even; they logged off entirely because of the admin abuse from a direct quote from our discord chat.

    And it's a 100% accurate statement as the game is meant to be fun, you're meant to make the game fun for others, especially as antagonists; but spawning several game ending mobs on a small and low armed group of people to end their round is not okay.

    Complaint: So at around 2:25pm -7 GMT time was a Extended RP Gamemode round. The gateway was UO71, a very deadly terror spider gateway with very low loot rewards. During this we cleared up through all of it (And even had someone release the prince and mother early which killed all but three of the seven man team) and continued on to the queen. There we had only two people armed with guns, and the other two one being myself having at least one while he other had some five weapons with them. 

     

    During this we cleared out an area for a arena boss battle and started to get ready to break in from the side with 100% legal means within our rights especially since it was all destructible aside from the area leading directly in. We constrcted an arena with welded glass airlocks with the provided combat RCD from engineering to fight in securely. As I started to RCD the regular metal walls down Spark spawned not one, but four Prince of Terror Spiders ontop of the team in the safety area; brtually killing everyone inside before rejuving one of the victims claiming they where (The least cheesey of them all)

     

    This is just blatant abuse of Admin powers. We where using 100% in game equipment we obtained through regular means and using in game knowledge of terror spiders not being able to break through welded glass airlocks which we ourselves can fire through. This is absolutely unacceptable to spawn four Prince of Terrors ontop of every one killing them all because they where "Being cheesey" There is absolutely no reason what so ever to abue Admin spawning powers to end not one but four players' rounds because you did not like how one of them was playing it smart to avoid being easily killed.

    I know even with the old system, there were a lot of times where it was incredibly frustrating to deal with people asking you in 10 minutes if you have ___ yet, and if you can give it to them. Or everyone in the station PDA'ing you for upgrades. I can't imagine what that would be like now. I don't think I would actually bother.

    In short every time I do R&D which is the only time we get at least femtos and bluespace matter bins but hardly any good equipment because no one but sometimes an experienced miner is helping out R&D, not even Xenobio; they start yelling calling you shit, asshole, etc because you

    A) Don't have an autolathe

    B) You can't make NV Med Huds

    C) You can't make them their IMS

    D) You can't give miners more than two pieces of equipment

    C) War ops are coming and you lack decent guns and parts to upgrade for medbay to not be shit, more materials, etc until they are already here.

     

    I actually did this duriong a war ops once who where even so kind as to wait an extra 10 minutes before destroying telecomms. It was 100% shit and I would not recommend doing it. We also lost if you could believe it or not since well; there where guns out there, but not enough to make a difference even when buying auto rifles.

While it could be possible to make an ID slot thing work the issue is that pAI's work as a bounced radio; and to make matters worse if they could access other channels even temporarily, that means stealing access or granting it pretty much allows any antag whom gets a pAI to access thsoe channels even if they never even bothered to loot a headset. 

     

    While this could be fine for things like Medical, Engineering, Science, Supply and Service; allowing access to Command and Security would be horrid.

  7. The issue with slowing down and enjoying the game more is;War declared by Nukies you have until 12:15 to try and get crew armed with weapons from R&D and Cargo. Well good luck getting the crew armed from R&D as now it will take about an hour before you can feesibly arm crew. Same with blob you have some 20-30 minutes (30 minutes being for blobs that arent doing so well) to get the crew armed and to help in taking down the blob which are already as roundstart blobs incredibly difficult to do with welders unless the blob messes up horribly.

  8. As I said this PR seems incredibly rushed fro mthe original whci hwas up much longer for such drastic changes, espeically all in one PR alone. It should have in all honestly been several PRs and up long enough for the more slow people who already voiced their opinions on the previous and did not even know there was a second new PR until it has only just been merged after being up for about 9 days before being merged.

     

    Quite honestly from the last few rounds watching and being in; No one wants to do R&D anymore. It was already a hassle to get someone willing to sit there and do it; but now even those who did decide they where fine with doing it are deciding against doing R&D. This was entirely not the way to go for Science what so ever. And as said; you can literally not in the current state get max tech levels nor even progress in illegal tech tree unless you get super lucky with RNG: and if there's one thing I've learned from other games like WoW is that; RNG is the one thing you don't want to make people put up with. It can and will force people away from that for good.

  9. There are very few "pros" to the "cons" form it. For starters: it reeneables manipulator effiency on Protolathes and Exosuit fabricators. While I do not know how much on exosuit fabs I can tell you this. I was already to made four bags of holding from one sheet of uranium with femtos in the protolathe after finally getting them nearly an hour in from how horrid it is.

     

    Four bags of holding. Before it was some five sheets requires for just one bag of holding. One of the main highlights that was made in the original PR that uraniummeltdown posted originally was that it was meant to curb powergaming; however. I do not see this happening what so ever from just that. A matter of fact; this is only going to help feed the current meta of science power gamers allowing them to create even more Xrays, AEGs, bags of holding, anything and everything. Jaws of life for instance cost roughly 5 diamonds each. Well with femtos it's one diamond to make almsot two jaws of life. This was very much not thought about clear enough; and it one of the only main reasons some people supported it as now you can make god knows how many durands and entire armories when you get the tech levels after an insane amount of time.

     

    The autolathe removal is incredibly tedious and as someone said I can't recall which admin but; the removal of the autolathe from R&D roundstart was one of the only ways it could possibly get merged. And it did get merged; it is so incredibly unnecessary to remove it and make your life more annoying that I cannot fathom the reasoning behind it as now Robotics sit on their thumbs waiting for one to be made just so they can make some more bots in the first thirty minutes of a round with nothing to do.

     

    Then there's the EXPERIMENTOR change. Sure it's a horrible thing and we may be better off without it; however giving strange objects a pure RNG to either be helpful or absolutely useless is not what I'd hope for. More so they still just sit at the desk since there is quite literally no need for them to deconstruct and it was just useless junk to throw into an already large PR that should have been several.

     

    Then there is the tech tree rebalance; which in all honesty. Is complete garbage. I spent just one round making a new list; which half of it I already had done in ten minutes. This "balance" for the R&D tech tree is quite frankly not balance. The only reason it took me ten minutes is solely on the fact I had to guess at what I should put in next; which I did. And by 12:20 I was able to upgrade the ORM with picos after lots of talking to other scientists on what we should try next; and now that I have a bases for a new "what to put in after what" I can literally say the main arguement that was made for this in how it would deal with R&D guides like mine which narrowed it down on what goes in next is moot. It did absolutely nothing to change it and is only causing more trouble for both new and experiecned players; especially the ones that are not veteran scientists that know how R&D works well. 

     

    One of the main arguments I originally made regarding the first PR for this was how R&D is already incredibly difficult for new players that don't have 400+ hours of crew playtime. But no one seems to listen nor care. This entire R&D change was targeted at veteran players that know what they are doing because they have the hundreds of hours in Science clocked in and clocked in for a darn good reason. Unfortunately; newer players who do not are going to have an even more rough time. Even with my now old R&D guide that many people use; it could still take up until 13:00 for players not very good at R&D to get it there with as much hand holding as I offered.

     

    To make matters worse before this R&D and robotics REALLY needed Mining to have at least one competent miner; but because it's a veyr low play time job (One of the first you get) and is absolutely boring and hardly rewarding; no experienced player would want to actually do mining unless they are bored or did not have much of a choice in the late joiners job selection. This is needless to say about Botany which even with that full botany guide on literally everything for people to read and be hand held even more than the R&D one I made; botanists still rarely make anything aside from wheat, corn; and sometimes the bored long time player botanists making super healing food and meme plants. Which is highly unfortunate as you need four seperate things form botany (five if you don't get the chain of command from the Captain) which they rarely will ever do.

     

    All in all; this should have been several PRs and not merged in a week after remaking it on a new PR unlike the previous which was around much longer so more people could look at it and voice their opinions on how this will effect the server in Science; an already bad place.

In theory this sounds like a possibly good idea, however; it also would have av ery bad side effect: That being in the current state of things; most karma is awarded to people, usually power gamers or antags, or a clown that slips good for doing shit to security or other players in a 100% non rp way. Currently, just about all karma it seems being given out by people is going to these power gamey people who easily out robusto a few security guys or someone who is answering a call for help nearby etc with their full power game belt and goodies they spent a few minutes working on.

    This creates a problem where it would breed more low RP and breed more people rolling science to purely power game for example just so they can farm karma points and get those antag tokens to blow and make even more karma on an on stop train. Even if you gated it behind XXX karma these people would still be going out of their way to fuck with security, karma farm, power game to the extreme, out robusto people not very good, or even go as far as karma trading with a group of friends to slowly farm karma and all become antag at the same time.

    Unless something was genuinely done for instance you can only karma people if you're alive,  maybe it'd help; however that likely would not be the case, nor are there really all that many options that could be done to make the karma system less unstable to involve a karma token.

    In Short this is just like communism; good in theory, back in practice.

  11. Not gonna lie, I'd like it if we focused on improving and developing roleplay.

    Currently, I like how we have several maps in development. We have Metastation which is nearly done and focused on a much larger playerbase like we currently struggle with at times, and @Twinmold's Ragnarok which is an evem ore massive station which I hope we finish before the school year ends and get some testing on as we'll end up having a lot more players than we currently do.

    We also have the Virtual Reality project going on which is focused as a complete remaster to the Holodeck system and massively improviing. This is very wonderful as it helps builds and strengthen tne Roleplay aspect of SS13. I'd like it even if we could try and do the same  for other things. The things taht where stated above about the 'l33t txt speak' and the likes of making it an RP atmosphere is something I'd really like being enforced. Something that just kills me right now is how far we are drifting from our Medium RP that we like to toss out there quite a bit and more to a powergamey low RP server.

     

    All in all I'd really like it if we could start enforicing Roleplay more actively rather than letting the community slowly start to decay more and more to a Low RP ascept because we just aren't caring about it. That's what I really think we should focus on most importantly.

    Nanotrasen SWE Fight Night

    Pretense (if you want me to message the station prior)

    Greetings NSS Cyberiad. You have been 100% randomly selected to be apart of Nanotrasen's new hit series, SWE Fight Mania. As such, you are hereby ordered to create a "Rage Cage" Inside of either the Bar or Dorms with either Shield Generators, or Electrified grilles (Though the first is preferred) along with any seating accommodations that you see fit. A video camera should be placed near or inside of the cage. The crew will be pitted against each other in an epic brawl up to and leading not only the title of Cyberiad's Number One Brawler, but a mystical prize for them to take home! The Captain and Head of Personnel are to collect names of contestants while the cage is being constructed and made into a ladder format.

    Equipment Necessary(Style of equipment, flavor, surroundings what do you want?):

    None really, Everything the crew should be making on their own. Any possible would be potentially a brawl of several people against some giant, horrifying monster.

    Plot (if one exists):

    Nanotrasen recently become obsessed with Reality TV Shows and decided to pitch their robust lot into the mix by starting a broadcasted Fight Night series in which to make even more revenue from a very untouched market. After recent successes and random selections; the Cyberiad has been picked as the next host for Nanotrasens bloody money and gamling addiction.

    Prize for Completion? (If yes, then explain):

    Championship Belt and a tricycle to the overall champion.

  13. Not really. Multiple planets like more than 3 on some servers can be pretty bad if they arent built to handle it well. It also sucks badly when servers dont automatically reset planets and moons etc which means every hole people dig stays that can create massive lag. Other than that they're pretty fine. Minor rubberbanding still but that's because of server hosting being meh for most servers.

  14. Depending on the server there's entire faction based PvP. Most servers are PvPvE so space pirates and hostile players that wish to destroy everything you own.

     

    Currently it's in mid stage beta after 4 years of following development so I'm pretty excited about it again since it has a lot of improvements from what I used to play even during hte Alpha. 

     

    Been checking out servers so far there are two which are most enjoyable to me anyways since they arent always high popped which get full; and a lot less laggy since the game has to render, ping, etc every single item person and object that is around every single player.

  15. Anyone currently playing it in their off time? It's finally in Beta after following it for some 3 years or so which is fantastic and finally runs a lot smoother. Been having an itch to play lately so likely going to play it in my off tiime if anyone is down for making a Faction on some Multiplayer server.
