  1. Asked for a permaban on myself today. Consider my characters dead.
  2. That'd be the point I think it should be used more often, tbh. Maybe a Greytide or two might start logging on as a Miner and do some actual work, or something? But then, my expectations are always so unrealistic...
  3. Thought: Sec is there for the crew's protection. They are paid to be worried about these things and to prepare for them, if/when they happen. The crew is there to do their damned job! Not get mixed up with antag's and such. You are putting valuable NT property at risk when you approach an antag as a non-Sec crew member. I feel like this should be a bit more prevalent. I don't care if you were an ex-navy seal deathsquad commander from the Bogon Wars and could single-handedly eviscerate the whole of the Vox Raider Fleet... You're a janitor, now. You aren't paid to concern yourself with such things.
  4. ~Mostly brain-storming and throwing a series of thoughts up here. Totally open to suggestion and such.~ So I have played a fair bit of Shaft Miner, lately.... And I cannot help but keep feeling like there ought to be someone back at the mining outpost, managing the smeltery so the miners do not have to walk back across the whole asteroid when someone needs a delivery. The QM is pretty (or ought to be) busy, ship-side, and is generally not over on the asteroid. I know this sounds like a hella boring job... Managing the smelters, getting the refined goods to the station.... But they could also spend time on getting new equipment for the miners (read: pestering R&D and Robotics), maintaining the Mining Station (something about limited air supply for the airlocks, comes to mind) or cracking Abandoned Crates. Heck, they could even co-ordinate w/ XenoArch (who should have access to the Supply channel, to begin with) to get more out of that job, as well. 3 Shaft Miners may seem like a lot, and it certainly can be! (Love seeing rounds with 10k+ value mined, or w/e) But Miners tend to, well... Mine. They don't really seem to go back to the mining station unless it is to unload, deal with a call or if they're bored and are just gonna spend the rest of the round fucking around. That's another thing. The Foreman could make sure that the Hardsuits worn by players not on the rock (Gooning it up or SSD) become available for new miners that arrive on station. Too often have I seen folks log on late, only to find that there are no Hardsuits available. Beyond tasks expected of the job, it would also be a good position for experienced miners, giving new miners someone who is _there_ and can help them out. Helping them with getting hardsuits on/modified, unloading ore, etc. Anywho, thoughts?
  5. So I think I might take a break from Paradise... Things have gotten waaaaaaay too immature, in a general sense, lately... I know there are plenty of folks who do try and play the game and they are fun to interact with, but it is far out-weighed by the shenanigans that have been going on. It has just gotten to the point where I can't go off and mine and ignore it... Anywho, I have enjoyed my time here, for the most part. Met a few cool people and had some awesome gaming experiences. I may pop in, from time to time, but I do not know how often that will be. Thanks for all of the help and guidance for all who gave it! I have tried to be nice and helpful with other new players, when I come across them. Take care and don't get caught by the antag! o/

    Hello!

Heya o/ Might see you, if you're ever down in the mines.
  7. Walked off the Mining Asteroid by accident... Landed on another rock... got shot by sentry guns.... had activated GPS while flying through space and re-tagged "HELP"... Krakricha tried to save me and got shot for the effort. Gave them Karma for at least trying. Such an awesome game!
  8. I honestly had no intention of such things. Seriously, hadn't crossed my mind until you mentioned it! Karl's character sheet is basically putting a joke background to a civvie I might pop on with, if I really wanna play and missed the round start. Besides, the dude's retired with a bad ticker... He literally cannot get funky anymore or he'll just gib himself! (okay, readin' that after I type it out...)
  9. A Trial Admin, a Mod and the HoS have seen Karl's name. I assume, at this point, that it passes the "appropriateness" test? I don't have to change it?
  10. http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/Category:Locations "Locations on NCS Cyberiad" http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/NCS_Cyberiad While I have no qualms with being wrong, I would like to point out that I am merely wrongly informed ^^ Thank you, though. *fixes character sheet*
  11. I used to play 40k. Started with an Orc army, then stopped playing for a few years. Picked up a CSM army 2nd hand, had a blast painting/kitbashing things... Got sick of 'the scene'... Moved on to other wargames. I am mostly into "historical" wargaming, these days (FFoT, FoW, BG)
  12. A quick it about me, as a player, I guess... I am still learning the game and trying to focus on being a Custodian while poking at Shaft Miner information. I have been playing RPG's (from D&D to Rogue Trader to GURPS to...) for over a decade and, while I'm not the best at it, I am aware of and respect role playing. As I become more learned of the game and community, I will, hopefully, start to immerse myself in my character and role more. Bear with me, until then, please. I will do my best to remain a polite and courteous noob..... Though there may be the occasional Cleaner Grenade popped... Hehehehehe!
  13. Name: Karl Humungus Age: 45 Gender: Male Race: Human Blood Type: B+ General Occupational Role(s): Tourist Biography: Karl is a retired adult performer just traveling across the galaxy to his dream retirement. He finds himself stuck on NSS Cyberaid for the time being, between system jumps. The booze in the bar is good and the smokes in the vends aren't stale, so he doesn't mind, for now. In his late 30's, he had major surgery of his heart, ultimately leading to his retirement from the industry. Qualifications: Retired Employment Records: Adult Entertainment Professional Security Records: No criminal flags. Medical Records: Cleared of STD's. Recent heart replacement. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]: Other Notes: I use this character mainly for exploring the game/ship/UI and learning with minimal impact on the activities of the crew. Also for when showing the game to others or when I just want to take it easy. I noticed some posts about using appropriate character names, if this name is an issue, I will gladly use something less... "professional" sounding.
  14. Name: Gerhardt Schmidt Age: 34 Gender: Male Race: Human Blood Type: B+ General Occupational Role(s): [will add as I learn/play the roles] Janitor, Shaft Miner Biography: Bitter and withdrawn, Gerhardt has spent too many years between getting his boots on the ground. A spacer not by choice, Gerhardt toils away for NT, sending his earnings back to support his family on Mars. Years of experience have worn him down to only the most essential of social interactions and a focus on completing his work that leaves no time for small-talk. Qualifications: Custodian: - Knows how to point and what to point at. - Able to transfer liquids from one container to another. - Not brain-dead. Shaft Miner: - Have the basics down. Able to assemble and wear a Mining Hardsuit, properly. Dig, pick up loot, take loot to processing, etc. - Can set up, operate and service Mining Drills. - Knows how to operate the conveyors and processors. - Knows how to send resources back to the station. - Has not drained the Mining Station of atmosphere by leaving the airlocks open. - Has not fallen off the asteroid, yet. Employment Records: Custodian: 5 rounds. Shaft Miner: 4 rounds. Security Records: No known charges on file. Medical Records: Generally fit. Potentially mentally unstable. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Sandy blonde hair kept generally neat with a "Lincoln" style beard. Rarely seen not wearing his Jumpsuit. Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]: Other Notes:
