    I think you'll still find some commonalities to humour, even between radically different people and settings.

     

    For example people will generally find funny.

    1) Unexpected outcomes that none the less logically follow from perceived events.

    2) A reversal in status. Something serious being treated frivolously or something frivolous being treated seriously.

     

    While what things fall into these categories vary between cultures and individuals, the broad principles generally remain the same. This isn't to imply that these are the only comedic things, that's not even touching on slapstick, farce and surrealism. These two are just examples that I can quote off the top of my head.

     

    Psychologists sometimes read too much into humour, I agree. Particularly those from the fairly Freudian camps of psycho-analysis. But it's definitely a universal human phenomenon that occurs across all cultural bounds, so there's definitely some underlying structure.

    Hi Jaden, welcome aboard. I'm glad you're enjoying it so much here.

     

    My biggest question would be how everyone feels about recording shifts and putting them up on youtube. I really think this game has huge potential for comedy / intrigue even if its not going to get a million views, but I don't want to be seen as some low effort spammer.

     

    You're definitely welcome to stream your gameplay from our server, make let's play videos and otherwise share it with other people.

     

    As an example, one of our other players has made a series of comedy videos on youtube about playing SS13. I've placed a link to one of the episodes below.

    AFL, Where you carry the ball in your hands, dribble it, pass it to other players and only kick for the goals. Also we award points for trying if you miss the goal.

    Receiving adminhelps that use people's job-title, i.e. "the Virologist is griefing me" rather than "Nicholas Bennett is griefing me". I don't enjoy looking up the crew manifest to find their character name, then searching for that character name in the list of 90 odd people (which is sorted by Ckey and not character name) to find their player Ckey and then messaging them. When they use the person's name though it creates a hyperlink that I can just click on.

     

    Receiving adminhelps saying "Why aren't you doing anything?", especially while I'm doing the above.

     

    Receiving adminhelps that include the words "for no reason" since about 90% of the time whatever they just said is a lie and two minutes down the line I'm asking them "could it be because you attacked them with a mining drill earlier?".

     

    Receiving adminhelps that say "Kiana Ender is griefing/metagaming/powergaming/bad RPing" without providing details about what they're doing. I'm usually too busy to play twenty questions.

     

    Receiving adminhelps insulting another player behind their back.

     

    Being told to read the server rules I helped write.

     

    Asking someone a question and being told to "check the logs" rather than them just answering the question.

    Stray away from jobs costing karma

    Actually having seen the karma list, I wouldn't say that it frequently goes to the spotlight-grabbing attention seekers. Many of the higher karma totals on the server belong to some of the more quiet and unassuming players who often have nothing that they can spend it on anymore. If nothing else, the spotlight chasers tend to spend time sitting out in the ban appeal forum and not getting any karma while they can't play.

     

    When I admin I sit there watching the chat-logs, and my karma for the round almost always goes to the person I see having an actual conversation with someone else in character. Someone once made my day by noticing that my assistant had the same hairstyle as them and started trading hair-care tips.

    Insomniac Edit: They loved eachother, but he could never say it. She never seemed to take their relationship seriously. Over time he started putting up walls and giving her the silent treatment. That night though as the crowds rushed to the escape shuttle they fell into eachother's arms and both blushing remembered how they first fell for one another... damn janitor.

    The rules have already been quoted above. If your RP requires violence as a non-antagonist, you should contact the administration staff first to receive permission. These rules are clear and explicit, you either knowingly broke them or had not chosen to familiarize yourself with the rules of our server. Administration staff are required to enforce the server rules and as such complaints against them for doing so are not applicable.

     

    Since you do not mention any other issues with social system's conduct, beyond the ban itself, this is not a valid complaint.

     

    Complaint Closed

     

    If you have any complaints about this or any other admin's behaviour other than enforcing the server rules, please open a specific complaint regarding that conduct.

     

    Should you feel that the server rules are incorrect or require changing, I recommend the suggestions forum as the appropriate venue. However do note that playing on our server requires accepting the rules as they currently are and that disagreeing with the rules is not justification for breaking them.

     

    Had your ban not already elapsed, you could appeal it within our appeals forum.

    To be honest, I don't really understand the complaint here.

     

    Bone-white clarified with you that "shitler" was meant as an insult, you then followed up with "fuck the AI".

     

    You were told to stop and had OOC privileges revoked because you seemed to feel that using OOC venues to insult other players were appropriate and we didn't want to risk you doing it in a public forum until we had your commitment to stop.

     

    You never gave us that commitment and showed no understanding that your actions could be offensive. You were banned only at your own request at the end.

     

    I was on at the same time, communicating privately with Bone-white and approved the ban.

     

    Since I was involved myself, I will allow the other admins to chime in here. It's not appropriate for me to make a ruling about actions I was a part of.

    Thankyou for lodging your complaint.

     

    Insulting someone behind their back isn't any more pleasant than doing it to their face.

     

    Bone white asked you to stop, because quite frankly it's not our place nor role to hear you bitching about other people. You could have expressed your difficulties with the AI in a mature, responsible way. Instead you chose to describe them as "Shitler".

     

    Had you simply acknowledged the request to stop it wouldn't have needed to go further. Instead you proceeded to argue with the admin.

     

    I may have missed something amidst the long torrent of log you posted, so an edit would be appreciated for proper handling of this complaint. However from a surface reading, it looks as though Bone White's actions were justified under the circumstances.
