  1. TL;DR:

    Spoiler

Some departments already have the culture to not need this, but it's a useful tool for department heads and mentors. Also raise time limits

    Full:

I used to 'main' CMO - my pet peeve was incompetant doctors who didn't ask for help, and did more harm than good. Having this will help (good) CMO players, and other medical staff, to know who to watch over incase they need a nudge in the right direction.

Currently I play antag a lot, and yea, I do feel sorry for the new secoffs I drain as a vamp. (Though its worth noting I always bring all my drains to medical no matter who they are). However, I don't think the problem with antags targetting newer officers for the gear would be the issue, like, sure theres plenty of asshole antags who WILL do that, but I think the problem is other security officers, mainly security officers known for redtexting and overescalation, who will see the 'cadet' and completely disregard them or refuse to come to their aid when they need it, or prefer other robust/redtexty partners. Yea, I also know that these types of officers are the loud minority, there are plenty of amazing officers who are great at teaching new seccies, Corvidium & Oorm are two examples.
Side note: With the other proposal (Constables), why not have Constables as the 'entry to security' role?

As for engineering, I believe they already have the 'help new guys' culture perfected already, whenever I've asked for help on the (admittedly few) times ive played engineering, there has ALWAYS been someone there who is enthusiastic about teaching me.

I can't speak much for science, or cargo, as I don't play those at all, and with the Upcoming 'NT Careers Advisor' thing thats proposed and being made, Service will also have a mentor to help them out in character.

Fiiiinally, I do believe it should be a bit more than 4 hours - 10 hours at least. Its hard to grasp the basic game mechanics in 4 hours, let alone learning a somewhat complicated job with lots of dead ends and weird niche mechanics such as Medical Doctor.

  2. Desecrating the Dead would include robbing bodies from the Morgue or Chapel, vandalising corpses, looting corpses, placing heads on spears, and posthumous execution.

Whilst some of these things are not common, they would be incredibly frowned upon in character (atleast by sane characters).
Other things, such as Looting corpses, is incredibly common, but still equally as nasty.

This could fit into the '101' slot - A minor crime with 5 minute sentence.
I don't know much (aka I know nothing) about coding, but this should only really be a wiki change on the Space law page, and maybe the Coroner and Detective page.

Don't know what else to add to be honest. Not exactly the most impactful of suggestions out there but hey, it is what it is.

  3. Name: Horatio Cochrane
    Age: 41
    Gender: Male
    Race: Human
    Blood Type: B+

    General Occupational Role(s):
    Captain

    Biography:
The Right Honourable Horatio Cochrane, Viscount of Almrãnsa, served in the TSF Navy, born into a rich family, his parents were able to purchase him a commission as an officer, where he quickly distinguished himself, serving as a Lieutenant on the frigate SGV Eurealis. During an engagement, he led a party of sailors & marines onto another ship, the Harper, capturing it. The ship was taken by him to Sol, where he was given command of it. He proved an effective captain, mastering single-ship combat, often taking on ships larger than itself.

Eventually, his luck ran out. Whilst leading a party of marines onto another ship, he was struck in the arm by a sabre, where his arm had to be removed for cryogenic treatment, it was eventually reattached, but with lasting damage. This saw the end to his illustrious career with the TSF Navy, though his time commanding would not yet come to an end, as he seeked further employment with Nanotrasen, who took him on as a captain for their civilian stations.

    Qualifications:
    Lieutenant's Examination Pass
    Master of Fencing
    Advanced Gunnery
    Advanced Stellar Navigation

Employment, Security & Medical Records Coming Mid-Late 2569

    Personnel Photo:
Horatio is a middle aged man, almost 6ft tall.
His hair is tied back into a neat ponytail, and he has scruffy sideburns, which seem longer than the rest of his hair. His hair is also starting to go grey, though he doesn't appear to be balding at all.

    ROUND ID: Not Available

Nature of complaint: Misapplication of rules
Links to all relevant ban appeals for any bans related to this complaint: Not Appealed Yet

Brief description: Antag Banned for things I believe to be within the rules, as well as things that I know are permitted. Also an incredibly long minimum time until I can appeal.

    Full description of events:
I'll start this by saying that I have not currently wrote an appeal for this ban as it hasn't been 6 months.
This will be a long complaint, and I'm sorry for that, but everything I am saying here relates to it.
This is also not my ban appeal, and please don't treat it as such, I'll write an appeal when I want to.
As of the 16th of January, I've been banned from all special roles. The full ban reason is:

    Spoiler

Frequent and consistently problematic behavior as an antagonist, including:
-attempting to maximize the number of 'legitimate' kills allowed per round by 'assisting' every other antagonist around,
-frequent unnecessary permakilling, including decapitations and hiding bodies,
-unnecessary cases of "secbaiting" to provoke a response leading to more chances to kill, and
-frequent cases of complaining in both IC and OOC chat about others' behavior when caught.

I'm getting tired of cleaning up after the messes you cause every other round. You may appeal this ban no sooner than six months from now.

I've discussed this with Norwest on discord, and have received clarification, it was good clarification too, but I still believe that this is an unjust ban.
In the round I was banned, I killed 7 people, all of which were valid, though I was told this doesn't relate to my ban, even though in the discord discussion Norwest wrote:

    Spoiler

"The issue is not any one of these cases. The issue is that you spent most of the round that I observed running around in major hallways and in the middle of major departments with changeling armour and an armblade out, and responding lethally the moment anyone tried to respond to a Kill-On-Sight threat wandering around in the open. That's the sort of thing which we can acknowledge happens, but with you, it happens constantly.
You rack up a large body count every time you play antagonist. This creates a lot of unhappy players, who feel their free time is being wasted, and that we admins are tolerating problematic behavior by letting you kill so many people. Dchat likes to salt, ofc, and we can (and do) dismiss a solid amount of it. However, it would be absurd to ignore it forever, and it's not unreasonable for people to be unhappy that you killed them. Which, again, happens a LOT.

Ok so if it happened constantly, am I not allowed to use halls to get from point A-B? Also, messes, yes, antags do create messes, people will always ahelp about themselves being killed, even if they were in the wrong, for example, one of the 7 people I killed that round was a scientist who locked me in a locker and dragged me towards where a fight between security and some assistant was happening, so I broke the locker and killed them, they were killed via random chance decap, I did not hide their head or their body, I left them both where they died, in the middle of science hall.
Security play security to fight antags, and it's expected for them to die, if they're unhappy about dying as security, they shouldn't play security. People who do stuff like locking antags in lockers then dragging them towards security (which as far as I know is validhunting) should also expect to be killed, and should not be mad that they died. But then again, this apparently wasn't related to my ban so I'll move on.

"-attempting to maximize the number of 'legitimate' kills allowed per round by 'assisting' every other antagonist around,"
Now I'm not allowed to help other antagonists? I was always told (by other admins) that helping antags complete their objectives, provided the other antag isn't hijack, is permitted. I always try to help other antags, I don't consider myself good enough to complete my objectives alone anyway, and I've been playing for over 1700hrs. (or around 1500hrs at the time of the ban, but my thoughts still haven't changed).
I don't play antagonist to kill other players, I play antagonist so I don't get bored with the monotony of normal rounds (and to be fair, I was slowly starting to get bored of antagonist). AKA I do not play to win, I play to have fun, and if I can help others win, I've had fun, even if it doesn't mean I complete my objectives within the first 30 minutes of the round.

"-frequent unnecessary permakilling, including decapitations and hiding bodies,"
I do not hide bodies unless they are my target or have constantly tried to kill me as non sec (which has happened only 2 or 3 times).
Everyone I've talked to does not consider decapitations permakilling unless you hide the brain. On the round I was banned on, I got really lucky with changeling armblade decap, 5/7 people I killed were decapped, if I had any choice in it I would've just wanted them to die or be severely wounded that they engage, but due to the lack of self preservation rules, or other reasons, no one wants to disengage first.

"-unnecessary cases of "secbaiting" to provoke a response leading to more chances to kill,"
Every security member I killed on the round I was banned on was left either with suit sensors on, thrown in the halls, or in Rurik's case, left with another dead officer who had suit sensors. Example; myself and another changeling, as well as a traitor in the round I was banned on, was in a maint room just south of the Experimentor, talking and planning on what to do, when a lone secoff who I forget the name of came in and was then armbladed, then ran away. About 2 minutes later, Dahk rushes the same room solo, and he decided not to disengage, and was killed for his efforts. Another minute or 2 whilst we were looting Officer Dahk's body for sec gear, Officer Rurik came in, and was also killed, I then absorbed Rurik for a reason I forget. Before we killed Rurik, I decided to leave Dahk with sensors on, and Rurik's body next to Dahk's, this was intentionally to avoid causing too much chaos, and to allow them to be revived. This was not to bait more sec to the location, as we had left soon after Rurik was killed (then 2 minutes later I was lockered by the previously mentioned scientist in scichem).

"-frequent cases of complaining in both IC and OOC chat about others' behavior when caught."
This is the only thing in the ban I do not see as unjustified, as I constantly did it. I was warned by Eric to calm it down in looc about it, but a few days later I got pissed off with sec using some reeeeal shitty behaviour and LOOC'd about it again, and was warned by Eric again, who was kind enough to actually give me warnings about LOOC'ing, instead of straight up antagbanning me without so much as a hint to calm down, like this ban. Yes, obviously I did stop LOOC salting after the 2nd warning, and even after the 1st I tried to stop.

"You may appeal this ban no sooner than six months from now."
And to top it all of, I'm not even allowed to appeal this ban for 6 months. 2 months I can get (note that it hasn't been 2 months since the appeal either), hell, even 3 months at a push, but 6 months for something I wasn't even warned for? That seems incredibly long for this.

As I told Norwest, I don't dislike him, I enjoy his events and think he's a great admin, usually, at least. I just think that this judgement was, to put it bluntly, awful, considering the circumstances.
There were alot of things myself and Norwest discussed in discord DMs, but if I listed them all here it would take until I can appeal the ban to read the entire thing let along write it, and I know you don't want to waste that amount of time on this.
I'm sorry if this came across as rude, I didn't intend it to - English isn't my first language, and I'm from England born to English parents, lol.
If you do have any questions, or want me to add anything, please inform me, I'm more than happy to explain anything or add anything.

    Thanks,
    Louise.

You made this post in response to the round where a clingtot decimated all of a security and a malf AI gone nuclear, forcing an unrecallable shuttle 40 minutes in.

So yeah I agree, remove clingtot.

yea i was the totcling this round. it wasn't fun for me either - there was no challenge, the only thing i feared was the other cling, and even then i had better gear than them. i was effectively immortal, which is 0 fun for anyone.

  7. Name of Event: VARLE Drive Test

One Sentence Description: Testing of a new type of Faster-Than-Light jump drive goes horribly wrong when the station and her crew are transported hundreds of years into our dead system's future. Inspired by the 'IXION' videogame's storyline (will contain minor spoilers!)

    Map Changes: No

    Code Changes: No

Suggested Number of Players: Atleast 30 crew, and 5 or 6 ghosts.

    Full Description of Event:
    Start of Shift:
Once everyone is setup, kitted with all their standard stuff, a CC announcement (CC#1) (see bottom of thread for all CC announcements) stating that the station's goal has been changed to construct and test 'VARLE Drive' - a brand new type of Faster-than-Light warp drive capable of moving even the largest of stations and ships anywhere in the galaxy within minutes. The AI should also be set to Station Efficency lawset.
    VARLE Drive:
The engineering department will construct the VARLE Drive (which will be a SMES but resprited to look like the gravity generator and renamed to 'VARLE Drive'. If you can edit descriptions, it should read 'A Prototype VARLE Drive designed by Nanotrasen to move large stations across the galaxy').
The engineering department should fully charge the resprited SMES, and have the output set to 0, once this is done, another CC announcement (CC#2) stating that final checks are being run, wait around 5 minutes, then another CC announcement (CC#3) will be sent, stating they are remotely starting the VARLE Drive, and all crew should brace
    VARLE Jump:
As soon as the previous CC announcement is sent, all crew should be either slept, or knocked down and flashed immediatley, the VARLE Drive exploded, and then all station lights will go out. An 'automated' station announcement (CC#4) will be sent, stating that there are discrenpencies between expected time and current time, and that they are receiving no communications signals from anyone. The cargo shuttle should be deleted, however mining and labour shuttles will be useable - The station is now on its own.
    Post-Jump:
From here on, chaos starts to slowly seep in, with the crew realising that all of their family and loved ones are now dead a few hundred years into the past. Cargo Technicians, becomming useless due to being unable to receive shipments from the NAS Trurl, are the first to break, receiving objectives to incite protest against the Captain's leadership, and perform minor acts of sabotage (breaking windows, hacking open doors, making the place a mess, etc). From here on, there are 3 paths/endings to this event, which I will detail now:
    Ending 1 (A New Chapter):
This ending is most inspired by the IXION videogame's ending.
A while after the cargo techs go rogue, 'automated' station announcement sends another announcement (E1#1), stating that there is a ship, unmanned but with fully active and automated defences, it is protecting lavaland, and will attempt to destroy the station if any attempt is made to move all crew there. It will also state that there is a solution - Ramming the station into the ship, whilst simultaneusly evacuating the crew to lavaland.
Remember that the AI should be on the station efficiency lawset, and upon hearing this automated announcement, will be malf'd, and given objectives to prevent the station's destruction through any means necessary, even if that means murder. The AI will be given strict rules NOT to use the doomsday device, however the borging machine is permitted. It will also not be permitted to plasmaflood, as that destroys the station. When the AI is killed, the station will send another automated announcement (E1#2), stating that the nuke has been armed, and that the station is headed for a collision course with the automated ship, all crew are to evacute to lavaland immediatley. Once the nuke detonates, the round will end.
    Ending 2 (Trans-Solar Federation):
Provided the cargo techs are arrested or do little damage, another 'automated' station announcement will be sent (E2#1), which is written as a distress signal sent across the stars. After about 10 minutes, a response will be received by a Trans-Solar Federation Vessel (E2#2), explaining that the Cyberiad/Kerberos/Cereberon disapeered ages ago, but they are sending a crew to investigate onboard a shuttle.
The shuttle they send will be the emergency shuttle, with a group of TSF Marines onboard, the shuttle will arrive at the station, and its departure will be delayed by admins, the TSF Marines will evacuate the crew onto the shuttle, once a good proportion of crew are on the shuttle, it will leave, upon arrival at its destination, the round will end.
    Ending 3 (Change of Command):
If the rogue cargo techs have done enough damage, or convinced the crew, and are not all arrested, they will be converted into Revolutionary Heads, given one flash each, and tasked to kill all of command, security, and the AI, not just command as a normal revolution would have. Once all command, security, and the AI are dead, the round will end.

    All CC & automated announcements:

    Central Command Announcement
    VARLE Drive

    Attention NSS Cyberiad/Kerberos/Cerebron
As you may have seen in the news recently, the NSS Tartarus has discoverred and invented a new type of FTL travel - the VARLE Drive.
This is a device capable of moving ships and stations of incredibly size across the far reaches of the galaxy in an instant, and your station will be the first to test it.
The specifics have been sent to the Chief Engineer, who will be in charge of constructing this device - it is rather simple, and needs a room roughly the size of the gravity generator. Once it is built, it must be fully charged, and its output set to 0kw.
We do not expect this to take long. Good luck, Cyberiad/Kerberos/Cerebron.

    CC#2:

    Central Command Announcement
    VARLE Drive Final Checks

We are now running our final diagnostic scans to make sure everything is in order.
This should take about 5 minutes. All staff are to remain on station, including miners and explorers, until the jump sequence has completed.

    CC#3:

    Central Command Announcement
    VARLE Drive Activation

We are remotely activating the VARLE Drive now. All crew MUST Brace for jump.
Know that the future of bluespace travel rests in your hands, and we could not ask for a more skilled station to do this for us.
    Godspeed.

    Distress Signal Received

Attention NSS Cyberiad/Kereberos/Cerebron: Your distress signal has been received by the SGV Centaurus.
Please note: Your station disapeered over 250 years ago, after its VARLE Drive's cybersecurity was breached by the Syndicate, causing it to rip through a moon sized asteroid, shattering it, sending debris everywhere, making the system entirely uninhabitable, even for stations. For you to suddenly appear out of thin air is either a miracle, or bait - if there are any of you left.
We will be sending a squad of marines, along with a shuttle, to evacuate any of you who managed to survive such an ordeal.
    Godspeed.

question 3: what is your favourite antag (excluding tot, cling, wiz, xeno, terror, blob, demon, revenant, revolutionary, nukie, morph, holopara, vampire, abductor)?

  9. right ok, presume i am insane for suggesting this, but...

what if everything had a weight, everything larger than a pen. except for unprotective clothing, or something like that... and there were limits to how much a person could carry.
carry capacity is only limited by how large your bag is. i can fit like 5 piano synths in my bag, which makes me incredibly strong (dont heck with me), but like, why?

species could have different weight capacity, going over your carry capacity will slow you down until you cannot pick up anymore. remove duffel slowdown all together - an empty but larger bag shouldnt slow you down more than a full satchel (which doesnt slow you down at all).

stuff like riot armours would be quite heavy (as they should be, considering they are lumps of metal and kevlar and magical bluespace protection), and effectively restrict you from carrying too many items, especially not in a backpack, if you want to walk at normal speeds. guns would also be rather heavy, cos guns arent just cheap plastic toys, they are military hardware, steel is not light.

yea that was a rather psychotic suggestion but its a complicated solution to a simple problem.

  10. Probably one of the newer players here, but I've grabbed just under 1,200 crew hours, and over 7,200 discord messages since March 2021. This isn't alot compared to some people, but I still need to touch grass.

Dont have many interesting stories, cos I'm a boring person!

I'm still here because, as previously mentioned, I have no life.
    Yea.

  11. Simply remove tcomms and employ assistants as message runners, or make Ian a carrier corgidgeon.

Could make it require a room away from servers due to interference or whatever

Alternatively make the little PDA room thingy near gravgen a coldroom and put tcomms in there - the PDA messaging server is already in it, so it would make some sense

Welcome to the De'naro Astronautics Home Page!

De'naro Astronautics is determined to bring you the finest ships in the galaxy.
From multirole civilian ships, to specialised military strike craft, we make it all.

    Our History

Founded by Damien and Tobias De'naro in 2291 as the De'naro Brothers Aviation Company, our history spans over 275 years, and it has been a long, sometimes challenging journey. Let us take you through the key events that led up to what we are today.

January 12th, 2291: Damien and Tobias De'naro found the De'naro Brothers Aviation Company, building light aircraft for use in the thin atmopshere of Mars, fulfilling a gap in the market. Their products sell well, and are known for their reliability and long lifespan.
August 14th, 2297: De'naro purchases a company on the edge of bankruptcy, and the ability to use their copyrighted designs, which sell well under the influence of the company.
May 4th, 2305: The company begins producing light civilian spacecraft, unable to use FTL drives, but are able to ferry people in and out of planetary gravity. These designs do not prove succesful.
October 30th, 2311: A De'naro spacecraft on its maiden voyage suffers a catatstrophic failure causing its engines catch fire inside a station docking bay. The station, thought not destroyed, had to be evacuated for repairs. De'naro was charged 50,000,000 credits in damages, and lost a further 7,500,000 credits in out of court settlements with families of victims.
March 3rd, 2313: Still not having financially recoverred from the previously mentioned disaster, De'naro merges with Frontier Dynamic Astronautics, a spacecraft company specialising in military vessels. The company's name is changed to De'naro Frontier Astronautics.
February 22nd, 2323: Damien De'naro dies in his sleep of a heart attack, Tobias De'naro takes over his shares in the company, which now make up 41%.
December 29th, 2329: Tobias De'naro, now owning over 53% of shares in the company, changes its name to De'naro Astronautics. De'naro also releases the first version of what would eventually evolve into the Cobra class, De'naro's most popular spacecraft.
    [ERR#UNKN]
November 26th, 2507: De'naro ceases production of its [ERR#UNKN] class dreadnought, the AIs onboard all active dreadnoughts are remotely disabled. De'naro also releases the first version of the modern Cobra class, fitted with the new MK1-De'naro-FTL, capable of 5000c FTL travel.
July 19th, 2526: De'naro is now the 3rd largest manufacturer of spacecraft in the entire galaxy, after purchasing the 7th, 10th, and 14th, as well as a few minor spacecraft companies in one large deal. A few days later, De'naro releases the 'Mule' class, a freighter similar to the Astron class, produced by a company it previously bought out.
September 9th, 2540: De'naro release the MK4-De'naro-FTL, a state-of-the-art FTL drive capable of propelling ships to 10,000x the speed of light, able to travel 10 lightyears in a matter of hours. This drive is fitted to all De'naro-produced ships, and a production license is sold to Nanotrasen, who would later reverse engineer the drive, and create one of their own.
April 20th, 2560: De'naro release a new line of fighter spacecraft, which are an immediate hit with all major galactic powers, models are sold to the Trans-Solar Federation, Nanotrasen, and even the Syndicate.

    Our Ship Catalogue

De'naro Astronautics produces a vast range of 12 ships, fit for varying purposes.
This catalogue will tell you a brief description of each ship, and their price.
Please note, most details have been left out, if you wish to learn more about a specific ship, please head to your local De'naro Astronautics Salesman, or look in a local library for a book about the ship you wish to purchase.

    Serpentes Line
The Serpentes Line are a series of multirole ships.
    The Cobra Class
Cobras are small, 2-crew ships with 10 tons of cargo space. The minimum price for these ships are 20,000 credits. You can often find these in the hands of Military scout fleets, or private owners wishing for adventure, or maybe even space-courier services.
    The Anaconda Class
Anacondas are medium, 5-crew ships with space for a couple of passengers. They can hold 30 tons of cargo. These usually cost 50,000 credits. They're the perfect choice for anyone looking for a general purpose ship, or maybe even a ship to live on.
    The Viper Class
Vipers are large, 10-crew ships with space for another 5 passenger, They hold 50 tons of cargo. They cost around 80,000 credits. They are usually used for running trade through unsecure or dangerous routes, where they may also need to defend themself.

    Equine Line
The Equine Line are a series of freighter ships.

Mules are our smallest dedicated freighter ship, though don't let 'small' deceive you, these are the size of Anacondas! They usually have around 7 crew, and can hold 100 tons of cargo. They cost around 60,000 credits, but have a higher FTL range than the Anacondas.
    The Zebra Class
Zebras are our midline freighters, typically carrying around 16 crew, they can carry up to 250 tons! They cost around 100,000 credits but the money these typically make can easily outweigh the cost. They are the perfect logisitical backbone for any navy or shipping company.
    The Horse Class
Horses, also simply known as 'Equines', are our largest ships, they are manned by up to 30 crew, and can carry an astonishing 500 tons. They cost 250,000 credits, and are often considered the peak of any shipping company's fleet. Not many of these ships have been produced.

    Childhood:

    Spoiler

Born in one of Nanotrasen's first major settlements, and largest economic hub on Xarxis 5, Chaching was quickly introduced to the way of capitalism and currency. At an early age, he helped move papers and clean up in a Used Mini-Submarine dealership, where he often watched the salesmen charge what seemed like extortionate prices for sub-par vessels - he knew he had to try it himself.

His first job he signed a contract for was as a Junior Sales Associate for Abigail Shipyards - a relatively new (14 years old) company that specialised in the production of small passenger inter-atmospheric ferrys. Whilst new, he showed great potential, and easily passed his probation period on his 18th birthday, making him a Certified Sales Associate for the company.

    Adulthood:

    Spoiler

Chaching loved his job, his boss, his coworkers, and the company he worked for. He performed brilliantly in his role, and earned several raises, and a promotion to Senior Sales Associate within just 3 years of working there. But all good things must come to an end, and despite his best efforts, one man cannot save a company from bankruptcy. On the 4th of October 2557, Abigail Shipyards declared bankruptcy, and all assets were bought by De'naro Astronautics - An enourmous company that produces all kinds of ships, from military grade fighters, all the way to large passenger cruise ships. De'naro Astronautics already had the staff needed to run all aspects of Abigail Shipyards, so Chaching's entire career was at risk, luckily for him, however, De'naro Astronautics was looking for an Assistant Regional Manager for one of their areas on Earth. Due to his previous experiences and brilliant conduct, Chaching was barely able to get the job.

Seven years later, a few days after the Regional Manager's retirement, Chaching was offered the position of Regional Manager, which he gladly accepted. Though, Chaching wasn't too happy with the path his career had taken, he was content with just selling ships, now he had to manage and control an entire region of stores, offices, warehouses, and all the staff that came with them, this was a responsibility he didn't want to handle.
A year after his promotion to Regional Manager, he decided he no longer wanted to undertake his duties, and seeked employment elsewhere in the company. He found his opporutnity - A Company Representative position onboard a Nanotrasen station 10 lightyears from Sol, where all he would do is represent De'naro Astronautics' interests onboard this specific station, and maybe sell a few ships along the way.

    Childhood:
    Pre-Birth:

    Spoiler

Two weeks before her birth, Capella's parents boarded a long range Nanotrasen Transport Vessel on route to a Residential Station in the Sol system. The transport vessel was hijacked mid flight, and a bomb was detonated on the third-class cabin rooms, where her parents were sat. A fire broke out, causing evacuation to be called. Her parents boarded one of 3 cryo-fitted escape pods, and left the vessel. The pod drifted through space for a week, before being picked up by a scavenger vessel, the ISV Shakespeare. Her parents and the 4 other people in the escape pod, was woken from cryosleep, though 4/6 of the cryopods had malfunctioned mid-flight, causing 3 survivors, including her father, to die in their sleep. The fourth pod contained her mother, who sustained a coma. Her mother was taken to the ship's medical ward, where she would undergoe a procedure to surgically give birth to Capella. Her mother would die a few hours after her birth, still in the coma.

    Post-Birth:

    Spoiler

Capella was raised onboard the ISV Shakespeare, mainly by the ship's doctor, an IPC called Juliet, though all 7 crew assisted in some way. Her galactic-common name was given to her by the ship's first officer, a Human known by Claudius, though her bubblish name she chose herself as she got older. During her time onboard the ship, she acted as an assistant in all aspects of the ships duties, learning the basics of every onboard department, though the ship never had a security or science department, and she was never permitted on EVA-Scavenging missions due to her age. She never learnt to specialise in any field onboard the ship.

In her spare time - which she had alot of, considering she was a child - she was often found in the ships crew lounge, which hosted three arcade machines, two copies of orion's trail, and a claw machine, which was her favourite. When she first started using the claw machines, it always barely had any stock, but as Claudius noticed her enjoying it, he would often buy restocking units when they docked at the various stations they travelled between. On her 13th birthday, the crew of the ISV Shakespeare gifted her a Piano Synth, whilst she wasn't very good at playing it, she treasured for as long as she could.

On the 11th of May 2558, whilst docked at a station in the Sol system for trade and scheduled maintainence, Claudius, the ship's First Officer, was killed by an old 'friend', who turned to the syndicate for some insane form of revenge. This hit Capella, and the crew of the ISV Shakespeare hard, they had all known eachother for atleast 16 years, and then Claudius was just... gone, like he had never existed. Capella, whilst not being qualified to act as 2ic of a space vessel, was promoted to Acting First Officer, where she gained experience on the helm of the ship, and assisting the captain in overseeing the ship's wellbeing

    Adulthood:

    Spoiler

A few weeks after her 18th birthday, she took the exam to become a qualified First Officer... and failed by 9%. Whilst she failed the exam, the crew of the ISV Shakespeare didn't have anyone else in mind for the role, and she had already done well in the role for over a year and a half, so she unofficially kept the role, though on paper the ship was listed as having no first officer. She never tried to retake the test, as the first try set her back a few thousand credits, and she had no intention of losing that much money again.

On the 25th of November, 2565, the night before her 24th birthday, the entire crew was asleep, except Capella, who was on 2nd watch, the ship was not due to arrive at a dock for a week, when the ship's alarm started the shriek. A small rogue piece of metal had struck a weakspot in the ship's side, depressurising the sleeping quarters, quickly killing everyone but Juliet, who was recharging in the ship's medbay. Capella sent out a distress signal from the middle of nowhere, then Capella found Juliet waiting for someone, anyone, in the ship's only escape pod. Capella and Juliet quickly rushed inside, and the pod automatically launched. Capella was able to use the pod's cryo-sleeper, but Juliet, being an IPC was unable to be statis-frozen.

Their pod drifted far from the wreck, but still emitted a distress signal once per week. Juliet had used a majority of the pod's reserve power in an attempt to stay alive, but could realise that her time was running out. Juliet shutdown her systems for the final time, corrupting her Posibrain in the process, killing her.

Capella's pod was finally found on the 7th of June 2566 by a Nanotrasen shuttle, the NTV Charon, drifting through the Epsilon Eridani sector.
She was awoken from cryosleep onboard a Nanotrasen station the NSS Cyberiad(or Kereberos/Cerebron, depending on ingame round), but suffered cryosleep sickness for a few days. Once able, she was approached by the station's Head of Personnel, offering her shelter and safety in exchange for labour onboard the station. Within a week she was assigned residence at a nearby station, the NCS Genesis, and a workplace aboard the station she was awoken at.

    Other Information

    ISV Shakespeare

    Spoiler

The ISV Shakespeare was a London-Class mining vessel, retrofitted solely for scavenging, and fitted with an FTL drive.
Unlike most London Classes, which held 28 crew, the Shakespeare only had 7; A Captain, A First Officer, An engineer, A doctor, and Three Scavengers, all three scavengers assisted in the other departments whilst not out in space. The ship did have space for 10 people in total.

London Classes were huge ships, often the size of military space carriers, they were to large to build in any single shipyard, so parts were built in various shipyards around the Sol system, and shipped to one of the largest shipyard orbitting Luna, the moon of Earth, where they were assembled. The first of its class was built in 2527, and the last in 2539. Only 51 were ever built, and just 12 remain, making them a rare sight. They were originally built to mine the inner asteroid fields, between Mars and Jupiter, hence the lack of FTL drive.

She made a profit by scavenging through ship wreckage sites, pulling off useful parts, sometimes including entire ship systems, and selling them to the closest station in need of such parts, or to orbital wreckers, or even more rarely, to black market traders, such as the Syndicate.

In her lifetime, she assisted in the rescue of two ships, excluding the one which led up to Capella's birth.
These were the SGV Broadsword, a TSF Scout Corvette deep in the frontier of space, there were only 5 fatalities, which was considered a miracle considering the only other ship in the area was the ISV Shakespeare.
The second was the ISV Oasis of the Stars, a cruise ship that suffered a failure in its Tesla containment field, a majority of passengers and crew evacuated via lifeboats and escape pods and were picked up by various ships in the area, including the ISV Shakespeare.

Foreword: This is mostly ripped from Amelia's Storyteller Club bio, found at the bottom of this page.

    Name: Amelia Kent

    Age: 24 (26/11/2541)

    Gender: Female

    Race: Human

    Blood Type: B-

General Occupational Role(s): Nurse, Blueshield & Security Officer

    Biography:
    Childhood:

    Spoiler

Due to her conditions (see medical record below), Amelia was always a quiet kid during most of her childhood. She often watched her father work, a Clinical Lead in a civilian hospital in her hometown on mars, and is where she got her love of medicine from. Her mother served in the TSF Marine Corps, and was often away from home. At the age of 15, she volunteered at a data storage complex, where she assisted in processing documents, requests, and files. At 16, under the supervision & assistance of her father, she studied for a Nursing Degree, which she would obtain on her 18th birthday.

    Adulthood:

    Spoiler

A few days after her 18th birthday, she underwent basic training and enlisted in the TSF Marine Corps as a Field Hospital Surgical Nurse, though she never did see a combat-drop, at the age of 22, the ship she was on, the 'Defiant', suffered a critical engine meltdown, causing a majority of engineering staff to die from their injuries, and many more to die of radiation-related causes. The ship, whilst lacking a primary engine, succesfully arrived at an NT-Affiliated Repair station, called the NCS Genesis in the Epsilon Eridani system, where the Defiant was repaired with a CX-39 Thorium Reactor engine. However, Amelia's time in the TSF Marine Corps had come to an end, as her 4-year minimum term had concluded by the time they reached the NCS Genesis. She signed her honourable discharge form, and, using part of the small fortune she saved, bought a small apartment onboard the NCS Genesis, 10 lightyears from her home, which she now rarely visits.

Whilst she had her own apartment, and a decent amount of money saved up, she was bored, and desired a stable income. She drifted through small freelance work aboard the station for a while, before being approached 4 months before her 23rd birthday by a slick Nanotrasen recruiter who had heard of her nursing time in TSF. She quickly signed on to Nanotrasen (without reading the fine print), and now here she is!

    Personnel Photo (Appearance text):

    Spoiler

She's 5 feet 3 inches tall, and her skin is an Ivory white. She has dark green eyes, which sparkle a little more than normal in the light.
Her face is lightly freckled. Her blonde hair is kinda short & a bit untidy, though you can tell she's tried to neaten it recently.

She looks very energized, but she's clearly very lazy, not paying too much attention to whatever she's doing, or whoever's talking to her, yet she admits this like it's a redeeming factor.

She has a slightly-faded scar on the back of her right hand, but usually makes an attempt to hide this. Her ears are pierced, but there are no rings, studs, or anything that would usually be there.

She usually wears a relatively large blue pin with the TSF Marine Corps logo on it, on the left of her shirt, but this pin has a small chip on its front.

Station Purpose: Starship Drydock & Repairs Facility
    Crew: 1,192
    Residents: 306
Avg. Distance from NAS Trurl: 248.29 million km
    Captain: Jacques Du Blanc
Date of Commission: 14/03/2505 (61 years old)

    History:
The NCS Genesis started construction 3 years before its commissioning, and was initially only host to 250 crew and a few tens of residents, still, that was considered large for its day. It was one of the jewels of Nanotrasen's crown for 10 years, until other newer more advanced stations, for example; the NSS Cyberiad, stole its spotlight.
Being, at the time, a highly advanced and sophisticated station, as well as one of the few and first in the system, employees and residents flocked to the station, quickly surpassing the supply of jobs and housing, creating a minor, but noticable, homeless-ness situation aboard the station, this was, in a few years, resolved, by expanding the station. The expansion brought jobs and housing, which in turn brought more crew and residents, which required more housing, so there was another expansion, and the cycle continued slowly, and still continues today, the station is ever-expanding, and ever-growing, even though its cracks are starting to show.

    Notable Disasters:
The first disaster onboard the NCS Genesis was the death of it's first captain, Mister William Cornwallis. Captain Cornwallis was seen as a kind and empathetic captain, who truely cared for his station and crew. It came as an even bigger shock when it was discoverred that it was a murder. An infiltrator from an unknown organisation had stowed-away on a vessel due for repairs and slipped into the captain's bedroom undetected, and the captain was killed in his sleep, with incredibly high amounts of Capulettium found in his blood & digestive system upon autopsy. The captain was given a burial-at-space via the station chapel's mass driver.

The second disaster occured when, during one of the regular blackouts later in the stations life, three large bombs were detonated aboard the station, one in an Upper Deck Medbay, one just starboard of the bridge, and one in one of the many ship repair docks, where a TSF Warship was docked for repairs.

    Current Status:
The NCS Genesis is one of the largest stations, in terms of both popualtion and physical size, dwarfing a majority of stations within the Epsilon Eridani sector, including the NAS Trurl & NSS Cerebron.
Its primary purpose is the construction of Large Civilian Vessels, as well as the maintenance and repairs of any other vessel that happened to find its way here. Due to its size, it has naturally evolved into one of the major economic and trade hubs within the system, and is considered home to thousands of people, including alot of families.  Unfortunatley, the station is host to serious issues with crime and corruption, although rare, there are a few large regions, usually on the lower decks, that have been irretrievably lost to crime, upkeep of these regions are usually managed by the gang leaders who claim to control the areas. The Captain, Mr. Jaques Du Blanc, is uneffective in his aims to restore these areas, and most people suspect the most prominent criminal leaders are paying him to turn a blind eye.
The station has seen better days, too. At 61 years old, it is nearing the end of its service span, and was originally intended to be decommissioned 4 years ago, however lobbying from the captain, as well as the many influencial people onboard the station, swayed Nanotrasen's hand enough for it to continue. Besides, if the station was decommissioned now, there would be no other stations in the Sector capable of doing the NCS Genesis' job, and the economic blow to the system would be crippling to further operations. For this reason, it is commonly considered to be the largest thorn in the NAS Trurl's side. They cannot get rid of it, but they do not want it around.
The station also has alot of issues with electricity, with blackouts being frequent, and often requires the aid of docked ships to assist in its ever-growing power-consumption issues, as powering a station this monstrously large is a task deemed nigh-impossible.

    Childhood:

    Detailed Information

    Appearance:

She always looks very energized, despite whatever she's (not) doing.

She has a fading scar on the back of her right hand, and usually tries to hide it. Her ears are pierced, but she never wears any jewellery on them. She always wears a small blue TSF Marine Corps logo pin badge on whatever shirt / jacket she's wearing.

    Character Voice:

    Spoiler

Her voice is slightly deeper than average for a 24-year-old woman, when speaking in galactic common, she speaks with an only-slightly noticeable stammer. Overall, she struggles with non-human names, and even some foreign human names, and usually calls people by their surname, even if she can't pronounce a single part of it.
She speaks with a distinct south-east english accent.

    Personality:

    Spoiler

Whilst always seeming energised, she is infact very lazy, though she admits this quite often, and often blames most of her problems on laziness or apparently being tired, which is clearly an excuse. Aside from that, she usually tries to be friendly, but lacks the necessary social skills to actually make friends. She has a tendency to ignore other people when she feels unsafe, and this is most likely due to her communication disorder (see medical record below).

    Medical Record:

    Spoiler

On 16/03/2546, her parents took her to a psychiatrist as she was having trouble learning to speak, and refused to speak to people outside of her family, The psychiatrist, after a few consultations, diagnosed Amelia with Selective Mutism and Social Anxiety Disorder. This was corrected on 07/09/2557, though she still suffers minor setbacks relating to it (see character voice above).
